Are there known child trafficking rings in the state/neighbouring state ? wasnt there one recently busted in another southern state ? Could this be linked to that?

i mean anything is possible, but statistically speaking, thats not how trafficking occurs

Misconception 2: Kidnapping is the main form of recruiting children into trafficking

Another belief is that children are commonly kidnapped for both sex and labor trafficking. According to the Human Trafficking Institute’s 2023 report, in the United States, kidnapping of children occurs in only an estimated 0.45 percentof trafficking cases; which means that, while it does happen, it is rare. More commonly, according to the International Office on Migration’s (IOM) Counter-Trafficking Data Collaborative (CTDC), findings indicate family members recruit children into trafficking due to generational exploitation, financial need, or the belief that they are contributing to the family. In addition, CTDC data indicates that intimate partners recruit minors, often with promises of love, belonging, and protection. The CTDC indicates that children are also recruited through individuals considered friends, often with promises of provision of basic needs especially for runaway children or those experiencing homelessness. Additionally, in 2020 there was a 22 percent increase in online solicitation and recruitment of children for both sex and labor trafficking, as well as broader child sexual abuse crimes. These recruitment methods can include promises of employment, material needs, finances, and relationships. Children can also be recruited through the promise of educational opportunities.

ATTENTION: All trails are closed until further notice.

It's time for a press conference and address the public about what happened. Even if the info is sparse, get the photo and sketch in front of people and announce he likely has injuries.

Unless I missed a presser, one hasn't happened yet, right?

I am just surprised that he did not collapse in that 105 degree heat, in layers of dark clothing and despite there being alleged witnesses, he had the energy to get away.
I keep thinking that too, especially in light of the horrific attacks he carried out and the likelihood that he had to run back to his car before racing off out of the park. That plus the POI possibly being injured gives me the impression that he would likely be exhausted from the heat, exertion and blood by the time he reached his destination. If he doesn’t live alone, it is quite possible that others would notice his altered physical state or appearance upon returning and perhaps already alerted LE?

Does anyone know what the white-tipped object is that I’ve circled?

The top of it is symmetrical to the lines of the duffelbag. Does it have a pocket on that side? May be a bottle of somekind, or a protective white plastic or metallic end to something in the sidepocket of the bag?
Or in the pocket of his pants, that would be around there also

Good point. I would expect an adrenaline rush followed by a crash for a couple of days.

The attacker's posture looks like a person who has shrimp back from gaming / computer programming / being sedentary most of the time hunched over in a chair.
I just had to look up 'shrimp back'!

I know this sounds nuts but am I really that crazy in assuming the picture of the perp circulating from behind is actually taken post-murder? The duffel is empty and the folks who were interviewed who saw him earlier in the day had said that his bags were weighted down with heavy items.
From my understanding we the general public don’t have any context for the photo, so I think it definitely could have been

I do wonder why the person took the photo and with what (phone, go pro, digital camera, etc)

<modsnip: Quoted post was removed>
Can anyone recall a similar case where mom dad 2 children all walking together
And parents stabbed to death allowing children/witnesses to escape?

Weighted down can still fit with the photo. Maybe a rope was in the bag, for example, that gave it some weight, but still plenty of empty space.

No, but I don't see how that is an indicator that this was a kidnapping attempt

Snipped for emphasis
My fear also.
My guess would be that whoever took this photo/gopro had a chance to see the face and described it to LE, confirming it matched the sketch. And the photographer would also know the time and location, which LE could match to the crime scene.

While we don't know for sure it's the perp, I'm trusting that LE has reasonable idea that it is.

Yeah I suppose but even in the absence of the idea that he had previously been seen with items weighing the bags down, that duffle just looks almost empty. Like why bring an empty duffle?

Why indeed. You wouldn't wear one unless it had a purpose.

LE said parents died protecting children
You're thinking from being stabbed to death?

Is this something new or have the trails been closed since this happened?

I dont think killing for pleasure , is the occam razor here ? Many ppl are suggesting it, not saying impossible, but less likely than child abduction.

Thanks to the Poster, for the stats on trafficking , that was an eye opener, most of them being recruited , inducted by family rather than kidnapping ...don't know if that makes it less terrifying or more......to those of constantly worried about kids getting kidnapped off the street when we see a frightening number of them still not watched 24/7 as they should be in an ideal world

I have a neighbour with a 8 year old daughter who lets her roam the entire estate on her own .....my blood pressure has worsened just being a bystander , I draw a complete blank when I try explaining the dangers to the neighbour lady

I'm wondering if the guy was watching the girls in a creepy way and the parents intervened - and that's when chaos occurred. Maybe the guy goes to family places like state parks and lurks around to watch kids. Maybe bringing a knife makes him feel macho.

But, why bring a big bag?

I think abduction is a solid idea, though I'm open to other possibilities.

Yes! I know it doesn't make sense and it probably isn't, but all I see is a woman when I look at this person.
I do too, as do OPs here.

One possibility not yet explored on this thread is whether the perp is a trans man.

I'm wondering if anyone has information about the cell phone reception in that area.
