Cloned Animals Are Safe to Eat, FDA Says

  • #21
I'd like to know WHY we need cloned animals to begin with? Don't cattle 'do it' any more? :waitasec: :waitasec:

Seriously...why the need for cloned ANYTHING? The real ones aren't good enough?

The thought of eating cloned meat just creeps me out. I can't explain why, I have no scientific evidence and haven't done any research on the subject, it just doesn't seem "right" to me. JMO.

Maybe they could clone cattle that don't produce methane gas.

I don't get it either, SieSie.

they want to clone so they can play god.. and yes it's all about making the hugest amount of profit possible. plus, also probably making it more efficient to feed the hungry hoardes of millions that continue to be born on our planet.

but no thanks.. i'll keep eating veggies from small local organic farms.. and meat that is free-roaming and hormone-free,, as much as possible. cloning may or may not be a sci-fi nightmare.. btu with the track record of scientific authorities telling us 'oh,, it's perfectly fine!! no need to be afraid!' (thalidomide, pesticides, nuclear power, vaccines, lead in paint, teflon, asbestos, etc. etc. etc. etc. etc...)
i think there's plenty of reason to be cautious.. even paranoid.

I think the thing that is most interesting is, there is virtually no consumer demand for cloned meat, so why are they pressing this issue?

I remember the same outcry when the first test-tube baby was born!!! LOL

The reason they don't have to label the cloned meat is because the processing of the meat hasn't changed.

There are many advantages to cloned meat, milk, and products, IMO.

As far as experimenting with legless animals...that is ridiculous.

Yup, I have read studies of how the University of Minnesota and Wisconsin have been working on breeding cows with no legs. What do they need them for, right? Milk cows and beef cows don't use them because they have no need to walk. Not with factory farming. And who cares about the animal, because it's life is not it's own-it is going to be consumed or worn in the end.

I want to challenge you with this thought, however. Think of how your body operates when it is miserable and stressed-think of a lifetime of those elevated chemicals seeping into the muscle and fat of these animals, or milk. Wonder how hard it is to rid your body of metabolic wastes once the ability to move is taken away? Wonder what the effect of consuming the metabolic wastes and elevated cortisol levels of these poor animals will be? I guess we will see.

When it comes to the cloning of animals and the consumption of them-all we know is that any weakness that might occur from genetic engineering has not revealed itself yet. I can say that confidently because there is a lifetime of history behind any newly released drug or tampered food product that initially was to be as safe as water. I know that human beings want to figure all of this stuff out-it is why we have such evolved brains. But, there is a ripple effect in nature when we insert ourselves. That is an absolute truth. So we will see.

I started to post, "Well I'm not eating anything without legs", when I realized how ridiculous that sounds! LOL. The whole cloning thing just bothers me, also breeding cows and pigs with no legs. When I read I have tendency to visualize, in the second paragraph of your post, I could picture these sick pathetic looking animals. No, I'll never eat cloned meat.
