over

ow my ears!!!!

basically the spokesperson doesn't know anything other than she reported, it's a secret, security is an issue, it's been challenging and she has to report with the first 5 calendar days each month - she can file for interstate compact but has not - staff security is an issue

It sounds to me as if DOC is making sure to not show special treatment toward KC. Education is a viable substitute for work (especially if it is to complete her high school education) in most States for probation/parole. Most people are unable to live without a viable source of income and often can do the education on-line in conjunction with job search.

Strange nobody is bringing up the civil case depositions. As in if Casey refuses to testify, is that a breech of her probation?

Presser was pretty much nothing. Pretty much confirms that this probation is going to be a non event as far as the public is concerned unless she's screws up.

I dont know about that but as she is subpoenaed, she has to testify or face charges for refusing to do so anyways.

Lots of offenders do not have employment and go to school instead to work towards an occupation.

she was also basically saying that it is up to the discretion of the probation officer. so, no "special treatment" in that regard.

Did they say in the news conference who is paying for this schooling?

No and to be honest I don't know if that's really theirs (DOC) concern. Just the fact she is doing schooling is all they care about. How that's being paid for is out of their realm I would think.

I believe I heard her say that the monthly reports of her meetings with the probation officer would be available under FL law.

I am sure the media will request them but I don't expect them to say much either.

Knowing what I know about online courses (Teaching 6 years, full-time, between 4 colleges) she will use a fake name. Her instructors and classmates will never know. Some of the college staff will know everything.

Her attorneys were not present, just the probation officer. No security problems.

She can move out of state upon request, then the DOC prepares a pkg and sends it to that state and the new state must accept it first.

The dept is responsible for her security coming and going from probation office, she must report during the first five days of the calendar month. They are also responsible for keeping her location secret.

The dept did not make any mistakes in this case, they will go by the new court order.

It's been challenging, DOC rep says. We want to be respectful of the public interest in this case and also make sure we follow the court orders and not disclose her location.

was the BBM comment re: probation present tense?

No - they didn't

Also, I can't stand these "grey areas" about violating the law.

She can't violate any laws - but when asked about if she should get a speeding ticket the woman said - "we take everything into consideration" HUH? She broke A LAW - WTH does it matter which law she broke? Ruffles my feathers! Breaking a law is breaking a law. Can't get more black and white than that.

JMHO

Who supports them? 26 is kinda old to expect your family to support ya...anyway...no one has a job in her family.

I think in every case (not just hers) it depends on the circumstance. Getting a speeding ticket may cause her to perhaps lengthen her probation, but not jail time. The non-answer may be because DOC wouldn't be the one to make that determination, it would be the court (she said so as much during the press conference).

Of course she was polite. She is polite on purpose to schmooze people. She said so in her Cookie letters in so many words. Also, HHJP said her ADDRESS could remain secret, not her general location. I would hope they would check with him before they decided to not disclose what office she came into. Did anyone ask if her new mugshot will be posted?

I missed the first part of this video the darned thing took so long to load, but what I got from it was because of the high unemployment and the security issues she will be taking online courses which other offenders can and do take . This is okay as long as they are working toward a goal.

Blah blah blah ad nauseum re the security issues - geez give it up!

Random checks throughout the month.

A quick gloss over the fact that as of last night the DOC seems to have a new boss and aren't we all pleased - a 27 year veteran of investigative and forensic something and yes, we are looking forward to working with him. WTH? Secretary of something....

Didn't hear anything about how they will check that FCA is actually accomplishing anything but as I said was late to the presser.

Don't know, was just repeating what was stated during the presser. DOC obviously doesn't have an issue with it if they allow schooling to take the place of work for many on probation.
