Closing arguments- thread #173

Which one sold her the gas can?

I'm pretty sure that Wal-Mart Stores are numbered in the order of their opening dates. The one where I shop opened in 2008 and is Wal-Mart supercenter #4520. So IIC, the Wal-Mart supercenter #5751 wasn't open yet in 2008.

The receipt had the store number on it and JA was very specific that she returned it to the store where she bought it. The DT did not refute JM's witness. It may be too late to suggest something outside of what has already been admitted into evidence.

If there's one witness the jury won't forget, it's the Tesoro IT lady who left no doubt that the receipts in SLC showed Jodi filled up her car + 15 gal more of gasoline. If there wasn't a third can, where did the extra 5 gal. of gas go?

exactly - great reminder!

Sigh.

Today Juan gave his closing arguments.

I also did my daily check of JA's Myspace page today. This post on her page finally changed from 4 years to 5 years today:

So this was posted on 5/2/2008. We will never know if Travis posted his or if JA did.

It sure sounds like Jodi speak to me, but if Travis didn't post it, I would think he would have deleted it.

Tanisha posted on June 4th :( that makes me so sad...
JA was probably about to kill him. I wonder if she had a sense something was wrong....

Not that I think the jury will need it, but wondered why JM didn't include a mention of TA threatening to expose JA for whatever she had done? A little extra dash of motive couldn't have hurt. Or was that not in evidence?

First of all please understand I am not against any post I am just giving my opinion. Did anyone here see "Steel Magnolias"? I told my granddaughter someone responsible for part of that movie lost a child, brother, sister or beloved parent. When my son died I couldnt take the phrase "he's in a better place". I didnt want him in a better place then, I wanted him here beside me. It hurt. I will never say that again . The cemetery scenes could have been me. I know everyone who says that has love in their heart, trying to comfort a person but really it doesnt work. :seeya:

I also wanted to ask if anyone noticed the 2 white cars- one in the driveway and one in the garage. I wondered if Jodi preferred the 'white' rental car as it was less conspicuous to the neighbors. Then in addition to this, she takes off the rear license plate while the car is in the driveway and reattaches it after the murder- either on purpose upside down or in a panic upside down. Wasn't sure on this one. I just really thought the rental car agency offered her white and that is what she really would have chosen as it would have appeared to fit in with the cars at Travis' house. ??? IDK???

There was that theory on here that maybe she purposely wanted to get stopped in Utah with the upside down plate to prove she was in Utah. I don't believe it was upside down until after Arizona.

LOL!! I bet her friends think you're great while she sits and :blushing:!!! You'll be happy to know your ability to embarrass her will last at least another decade. Mine are in their mid twenties and yeah, I'm really embarrassing. I say things like cool.

Oh you Sillie Sillie Mommies! Do I have good news for you! Your ability to embarrass your kids will reappear once you hit your older years! LOLOL And then, you can blame it on getting older! It is so much fun! I'm only 53 but I use it now, already!
Oh the fun you'll have! :floorlaugh::floorlaugh::floorlaugh:

I have to say I'm somewhat looking forward to Nurmi's closing. I thought he was much more dynamic during his "keep your eye on the ball judge" argument than he was at any other point. Just in terms of his ability to deliver argument, I think you guys are selling him short.

Yes. 2nd degree AND manslaughter!:banghead:

:seeya:
Would you rather it be a reversible error, if the judge didn't instruct the jury on the manslaughter charge and the defendant gets released from prison in a few years??????

Yeah, didn't think so :giggle:

Has anyone found out why Jodi was so late for court? The judge looked PIZZED!! I saw her look in exasperation at the DT & shake her head and shrug her shoulders like "What the hay is going on?"

Perhaps she was refiusing to cooperate with the guards and did not want to go to court? JA has given them some problems in the past.

Loved the Priceline ...Budget rental card bust! Was flipping awsome!

true story. i actually remember the last time i cried. loooonnnggg time ago ( i'm a guy,
never cried much, really ), but today early they showed Hillary just start crying, i got a
big lump in my throat and started crying. i have watched this trial from the start, seen all
family crying, but boy that look on her face was so sad. i don't express myself well writing,
i know you people get me though. :blushing:

Rattkatt, you expressed yourself so well you brought tears to MY eyes. I cried too when she cried, such a sad moment, among many many too sad moments for this family.

My guess is that Jodi did it since it was in May. He was done with her and she was in a cold rage over it. The wording sounds very Jodi to me.

I wish the jury could have heard that story about how Travis said he couldn't leave Jodi because she threatened to kill herself and he couldn't live with himself if she did. It really speaks to her levels of manipulation and evilness and his good nature and naivete even. That's exactly what abusers do. They threaten self harm so the abusee feels trapped in something they want out of but can't get out of. That juror who thinks Jodi killed because she saw no way out needs to turn that around. Travis was the one with no way out. Travis was the one that felt fear. Travis was the one that ended up dead.

I am so very sorry on the loss of your Son. There is no greater loss than that of a child. I did see the movie and have more times than I can count. One of my faves. Again so very sorry. Hugs.

You'll have to listen for the both of us :) My doctor said that I should not let my ears bleed anymore..... :floorlaugh:
