Closing arguments- thread #173

Not only that, but let's not forget that we had the gas station employee testify that she filled up enough for 3 cans in Utah.

Yep, that's what I meant when I said gas receipts. We are on the same page - JA is full of it! :stormingmad:

Wonder if the men on the jury with SO's asked them tonight "Have you been faking?" "You have? What else have you been lying about?"

Haha, maybe that wasn't the best point he made. But it is a weird moment to fake it. Why fake it on the phone unless you're being paid?

All the THs keep saying if JA wanted to kill TA why not when she got there with the gun. Too much noise and she wanted to use her knife. Why only one shot? Because she had to silence his death sounds as roomate came home, before he came into the house. JMHO
They are also taking Jodi the LIAR at her word that she arrived
at 4:00am and spent 13 hours with him before killing him.
This just does not compute in my brain.

She is a LIAR. She didn't tell us when she really arrived.

She lied and said Travis slept until after 1:00pm.
No, Travis was up before that. He txtd Chris Hughes at 12:13pm
and if he knew she was coming and was waiting up for her, sex would
have been the 1st thing they did when she arrived??

Well I watched 3/4 of JM's closing and have hope. He really pulled at the heart stings. I'm gonna skip Nurmi tomorrow in favor of doing laundry. Yes, you read that right. I'd prefer to do laundry over listening to Nurmi or Wilcott. :scared:

That really is saying something... if you are anything like me, laundry is the household chore I detest the most! (it is never ending... kinda like listening to the DT!) :floorlaugh:

Closing argument - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

A closing argument, summation, or summing up is the concluding statement of each party's counsel (often called an attorney in the United States) reiterating the important arguments for the trier of fact, often the jury, in a court case. A closing argument occurs after the presentation of evidence. A closing argument may not contain any new information and may only use evidence introduced at trial. It is not customary to raise objections during closing arguments, except for egregious behavior. However, such objections, when made, can prove critical later in order to preserve appellate issues.

THANK YOU! That puts the "second Walmart" issue to bed. Actually, now I hope NURMI brings it up so Juan can show it wasn't even BUILT yet! :floorlaugh:

But that's the reason she didn't get the receipt and walmart has no record. She just left it there by the cleared trees. It's not hear fault walmar wasn't build yet, and she needed to return the gas can.

I notice the cat and bugs were not called to testify!! :floorlaugh::floorlaugh::floorlaugh:

Bull....bet Jodi herself wrote it.

And what was she doing hanging with an ex-boy friend when she was with Travis?

She even managed to get in the cat scratches and not killing bugs...Just like she told Det. Flores....she wrote it.

wait, i thought closing arguments means all the evidence has been presented, if the DT wanted to refute it, that time has passed. remember at this point, closing arguments may not contain any new information and may only use evidence introduced at trial. Correct me if i am wrong, but, they shouldn't be allowed any pedophelia talk as there was no evidence presented to prove this, only Jodi and her team's unsubstantiated claims and in the opening statements, i hope this is the case.

I hope so too, but I don't know. But don't worry about the second Walmart. You will see an upcoming post where a poster finds the second Walmart in Salinas was built in 2010, after the murder by two years.

I will be watching the defense closing, though perhaps surrounded by bottles of wine :) If the Alexanders have to sit & listen to it, I will be also in support of them. I'll be swearing the words they won't be able to, that's for sure!

I have to hand it to you AnArmyWife, you are much more patient than I, and God Bless you for being so virtuous. I honestly am not sure I can do any of the defense closing. I would probably be chunking large heavy objects at my T.V. And I don't think that's something I could get my DH to understand.

I will, however, record all and will at least watch Juan's rebuttal closing argument. Seriously, he is like the John Wayne version of prosecutors: courageous, strong, tough, unyielding, impenetrable. :hero:

Do you know what part of the closing this pic was taken?

This was not from today. JA was wearing a blue shirt during closings.

That must have been from yesterday...white snow-white shirt.

JW could always wear a bandana on her head, like Bret Michaels.

Okay...another defense attorney just gave his :twocents:

According to him, it cannot be premeditated because nobody would steal a gun, then drive 1000 miles to kill someone with a knife.

I must be dumber four months into this mess, because I honestly don't understand this. Anyone willing to help decode? TIA.

My guess this is a defense attorney. He spends his life thinking of ways to get his clients out of trouble, whether he believes them or not--whether he believes what he says or not.

There are 2 Walmarts in Salinas! Wurmi will of course, insist that Jodi returned the gas can at the 2nd Walmart. That's why he didn't cross the Walmart mgr. He didn't want to give Juan time to investigate this new and fraudulent excuse.

Jodi testified she returned it to the same one because it was right in the area she was in.

Yeah, true.

She could of wrote it out and handed it over to MM who would then write it.

She was arrested by then, so if she had a hand in it, she was playing phone tag with someone............kinda like JA's twitter account

That really is saying something... if you are anything like me, laundry is the household chore I detest the most! (it is never ending... kinda like listening to the DT!) :floorlaugh:

Imagine having to go to a laundromat. :banghead:

How does anyone know Nurmi is doing the DT closing? And if he is, why was JW doing all the writing today?
He was the one doing the objecting during the JM's closing-that's typically a clear sign as to which attorney will present the closing (or cross during testimony). Nurmi is first chair and handled Jodi's direct testimony, so it makes sense that he'd do the close. Also, while JM touched on ALV & the BPD vs. PTSD/fog, the bulk of his closing focused on Jodi's manipulations, lies, and connecting the dots to a clear case of premeditated murder. I think that's Nurmi territory. It wouldn't be unheard of for Nurmi and Willmott to split up the close (a la Baez and Mason in the CA trial), so we'll have to wait and see.
