8 People Burned, Suspect in Custody After Attack with ‘Makeshift Flamethrower’ at Israeli Hostage Rally in Colorado

Eight people have been injured after a suspect threw a 'makeshift flamethrower' and yelled 'Free Palestine' during an event in Colorado on Sunday, June 1. According to reports, the event was an Israeli hostage rally and multiple people were burned.

In a news release, Boulder Police said the attack — aimed at a “group of individuals” — took place at the Pearl Street Mall on Sunday, June 1.

The suspect is an Egyptian citizen who stayed in the United States after his tourist visa expired in 2023, an official said.

Authorities have named Mohamed Sabry Soliman as the accused perpetrator of an attack on a Jewish community gathering in Boulder, Colorado.

Witnesses say the suspect used a makeshift flamethrower and threw Molotov cocktails into the crowd during a weekly gathering in support of hostages held by Hamas in Gaza, law enforcement authorities said. Eight people were injured, ranging from 52 to 88 years old.
