Under the watch of social workers, Aaroné Thompson's father and his girlfriend were reunited Friday with their children for the first time since police named them "persons of interest" in an investigation into whether the girl is dead.
The emotional, two-hour meeting at the Arapahoe County Human Services office came as police detectives continued their effort to get the couple to talk to them.
Aaron Thompson and his girlfriend, Shely Lowe, are under a judge's gag order and could not talk about the visit.
But the couple did tell their pastor, Acen Phillips, about the reunion with the eight children, which the pastor said was "emotional, but more joyful than anything."
Because of the gag order, the couple couldn't tell Phillips how many people other than the children - including a girl born in late November and Lowe's brother - were in the visitation room.
Aurora police detectives also made their way into the human services' building, but it was unclear whether their presence was related to the couple's visit.
Phillips' church, as well as churchgoers from the Greater Metro Ministerial Alliance's congregations, have rallied behind the couple, giving money and other donations.
Thompson and Lowe used some of that money to purchase gifts for the children, move into a new place and rent a vehicle.

Aaron Thompson and Shelley Lowe carried pizzas, sodas and Christmas presents into their first meeting with their children and her teenage brother since police began a homicide investigation into the disappearance of Thompson's daughter Aaroné.
On Friday's windswept morning, Lowe and Thompson arrived in a rented Chrysler, bearing wrapped gifts for the eight children who were removed from the couple's care after the homicide investigation began Nov. 17.
Sources close to the investigation say serious limitations were placed on the visit.
The parents weren't allowed to privately speak with the children. Caseworkers were present at all times in the visitation rooms, which are made to look homey, complete with a kitchen setting.
Phillips organized a fundraiser for Thompson and Lowe, and he said they spent all the money on the children.
