7/16/25

The last witness of the day was Jennifer Herriman, who works at the Arapahoe County Detention Facility and opens mail that is returned as undeliverable from inmates.

In April 2024, she opened a letter that was returned to James Craig and said there were "suspicious" contents in it. The letter offered the recipient free dental care and money for procuring people to be witnesses in James Craig's case, including advice for avoiding detection, like burner phones.

There was also a letter within the letter, according to Herriman, which contained a description of various roles for attractive women to play as witnesses. It allegedly provided code words — like Harry Potter and Captain America — to the recipient.

The letter within the letter also directed fake witnesses to say Angela Craig approached them and wanted to frame her husband for her murder in order to gain leverage in a divorce proceeding, according to Herriman.

Testimony is expected to resume at 8:30 a.m. Thursday. The lead detective on the case, Bobbi Olson, will take the witness stand briefly to continue laying the foundation for the prosecution. Her full testimony regarding the investigation is not anticipated on Thursday.

@Niner -- Sorry, I missed a couple of witnesses earlier.

Just catching up. What a horrible man! I feel so sorry about about the misery & suffering Angela went thru towards the end of her life. And all the carp he put her thru during the entirety of their marriage. The damage he's done to his own children is shameful.

It infuriates me that Some religions insist that staying married and working it out is more important than a spouse's health and well-being. Its disgusting that abuse of any kind should be tolerated and forgiven instead of gentle and loving care and guidance being provided to victims.

Speaking of Detective Olson, this article is from February 2025 for those who are catching up on the case:

CENTENNIAL | An Aurora dentist charged with killing his wife by poisoning her protein shakes offered a fellow jail inmate $20,000 to kill the case’s lead investigator, calling her “the worst, dirtiest detective,” a prosecutor said Friday.

During an evidentiary hearing, Senior Chief Deputy Michael Mauro said the dentist, James Craig, was motivated by animus against Aurora police detective Bobbi Olson.

“This defendant hates Detective Olson for all the work she has done on his case,” he said.

The letter within the letter also directed fake witnesses to say Angela Craig approached them and wanted to frame her husband for her murder in order to gain leverage in a divorce proceeding, according to Herriman.

So this letter-within-the-letter said that these fake witnesses are to say that Angela wanted to frame her husband for her murder in order to gain leverage in a divorce proceeding? If she’s been murdered, what kind of leverage would she have in a divorce, regardless of whether he has been framed or is guilty. She’d be dead.

If this is what Craig wrote, he must really think these fake witnesses are too stupid to see that this doesn’t make sense. Or either Herriman misspoke on the stand or the reporter misquoted her. Or I’m not thinking clearly…which is always possible!

Craig had so many schemes going! I think Angela was supposed to be dead by suicide, and some paid witnesses were supposed to vouch for this plan, but it seems Craig got ahead of himself if he wanted paid witnesses to also set him up for Angela's murder to for an advantage in her divorce. That would be a wasted effort for a deceased woman, right?!

I didn't know Visine could kill someone. Who knew? It will probably get locked up now, behind glass cases. Apparently, another woman killed her husband using the same method, and a man in Chicago killed his wife with Visine. It is interesting to see how many people have been convicted of this method of poisoning. There are a lot. And those are the ones who were caught. Wow.
Another Visine killer case was the murder of Lynn Hernan by her friend Jessy Kurczewski.

You do need large doses of the stuff to kill, at least in adults. And apparently it tastes pretty awful, so it needs to be disguised somehow, like JC did by putting it into smoothies. But it's easy to source and the symptoms are generic enough that they don't immediately point to a poisoning. Who knows? You could be right that it's being used by poisoners who are able to get away with their crimes.

IMO, never trust a dentist who reads, “Homemade beverage recipes for dummies” by Jim Jones.

I can't remember how long the Jury was out for deliberation with Alex Murdaugh or Chad Daybell, both wife killers, but it was pretty short. I wonder if JC will break the record.

Alex Murdaugh: 2 hours 45 minutes

Chad Daybell: 1 day, but that was for 3 separate murders and DP case.

I freak out every time a stray drop of Visine rolls down my face or comes anywhere close to my mouth. Even though I know I probably won’t get sick from a single eye drop. I scrub my face and lips like crazy.

(Because I’m crazy! Hahaha…)

Ahhhhh…but he thinks he is. And at this point in a thread I like to trot out the definition of hubris. It’s amazing how it applies to so many murderers. Such a wonderful word!

The definition of hubris now encapsulates excessive pride or self-confidence that often blinds a person to the consequences of their actions.

Here's a more detailed look at the definition of hubris:

  • Excessive Pride: Hubris is more than just being proud of your achievements. It's when this pride becomes excessive, blinding you to your flaws or the potential repercussions of your actions.
  • Defiance: In the context of Greek tragedy, hubris was seen as defiance towards the gods. Today, this defiance can manifest as a disregard for others' opinions or feelings, or even a disregard for societal norms and expectations.
  • Consequences: A key element of hubris is that it often leads to downfall or nemesis. This is a result of the individual's overconfidence leading them to make poor decisions or overlook important factors.
Additionally, hubris is often associated with other words such as arrogance, conceit, haughtiness, vanity, self-importance, and pomposity.

Craig gives Angela’s siblings (who are in town helping them out with the kids) a capsule that he claims to be an antibiotic and asks them to make sure Angela takes it when she wakes up.
Angela’s siblings later text Craig to confirm she’d taken “her medication”.
Angela almost immediately takes a turn for the worse.
{excerpt from @cujenn81 's post above}

How diabolical. How awful. He had her own worried family members unknowingly doing his dirty work, dispensing her "medication" to her in his absence. These poor siblings. I cannot imagine how they feel knowing they were unwitting participants in their sister's murder. My heart hurts for them. I hope they are able to get justice for Angela and find some sort of peace.

Is this trial being streamed anywhere? I saw Crime Talk on YouTube has opening statements, but can’t find anything else. Thanks.

With his background, training and schooling how did he think he'd get away with this atrocious murder ?
Did he imagine that her death would be deemed natural somehow, i.e., a bad reaction to some meds (if she was on meds which I'm not sure), or food allergies ?
What an evil and idiotic fool.

Angela's death had to be horribly painful and prolonged, with no way to alert someone after her ability to speak/move had been incapacitated.
Hoping for the harshest justice possible for this vile man.

How does a person live, sleep, eat with, talk to another all while planning to murder them.
Imo.

The only thing he appears to be good at is removing all reasonable doubt.
