IMO, Visine, (one of about 20 brands), was referenced based on familiarity with the brand product versus the active chemical ingredient.

From the Visine box, the product contains the active ingredient Tetrahydrozoline [HCI 0.05%], reportedly one of the fatal, culprit ingredients. However, inside a bottle of Visine is also benzalkonium chloride, boric acid, edetate disodium, purified water, sodium borate, and sodium chloride (inactive ingredients).

Looking forward to more on the facts from the preliminary hearing and how the defendant procured the chemical and how it was delivered to the victim.

Also, given the Toxicity and/or Acute Effects of Tetrahydrozoline hydrochloride being cited by NIH was for a child, an infant, (and rats and mice), the presentation of the toxicology report at trial will be interesting!

For example, 175 mg/kg (about 0.00617 ounces) given orally to a child, reportedly produced the following effects:

BRAIN AND COVERINGS: RECORDINGS FROM SPECIFIC AREAS OF CNS; LUNGS, THORAX, OR RESPIRATION: RESPIRATORY DEPRESSION; ENDOCRINE: HYPOGLYCEMIA.

And 80 mg/kg to an infant produced: BEHAVIORAL: SLEEP; LUNGS, THORAX, OR RESPIRATION: DYSPNEA

We’ve seen and discussed other cases here on WS (Murdaugh, Stauch, Richens)regarding Defendant’s choices/requests regarding their being seen in Court in street clothes, cuffed and shackled etc.

Here’s a new one for me :

There were no cameras, audio or photos allowed to be taken in the courtroom Wednesday. At the start of the hearing the defense requested the dentist have extra length on his handcuffs so he could also take notes himself.

The woman who was dating a Colorado dentist at the time he was allegedly poisoning his wife to death spoke exclusively to ABC News about the case and maintains she had no idea James Craig had lied to her about his marital status during their dates.

Karin Cain told ABC News Chief National Correspondent Matt Gutman that she doesn't believe she was the motive behind Angela Craig's alleged poisoning because there was "no planning a future together" with James Craig. In fact, they had only been dating for three weeks and she said James Craig told her that he and his wife were not together.

Cain said she met James Craig at a dentist conference in February. Cain was in the process of divorcing her husband and said that she and Craig spent time talking and texting and connecting.

Cain claimed Craig told her he was also deep in a divorce process with his wife, along with other things that weren't true.

"He told me...they hadn't been living together. He had an apartment," she said.
