I've been wondering about this.

If airtight and well sealed, this excludes a rented public storage unit. Public storage units usually are not temp controlled, at least the ones that I've seen are not. I could be wrong, obviously. However, I don't think Barry would spend money on such a thing; we know he's a bit of a tightwad.

Therefore, because he was running a "deer farm", he might have access to temperature-regulated storage units. Units usually used for storing deer meat. Suzanne was so tiny; she would easily have fit into a cooler, which could easily be placed in such a storage unit.

The above makes me ill thinking about it, but it makes sense, IMO.

Just my musings.

Agree with public rented storage not being Barry's thing. He's a cagey kinda guy (literally caged now!) and don't think he'd take that risk, but maybe under an alias such as Lee Moore he would? Wonder how long he's been using that alias?
Can't get over the shallow grave as secondary and final location. Where on earth would he have put her at first? When did he move her ? Did he have help (SD)? he was being surveiled by LE for a time, when did they start surveillance because that could narrow the time frame
And SD trespassing on PP property is still shady as heck, and now mind is in creative overdrive!

Iirc, wasn't there some statement that LE were waiting for the snowpack to melt to further look for Suzanne's body? I wonder if they had an inkling of possible places he could have buried her (prior to later moving her to where her bones were found).

Finally !! Justice for Suzanne, finally. All these years, and the fiasco of the first arrest....this time the monster will PAY.......big time.

Interesting. Likely smothered post-sedation. Body stored indoor/sealed. No insect or scavenger access during decomp. Hair likely detached early during decomp and stayed at storage site. No hair mass found w/ remains. Body mostly skeletonized before move. Remains staged (possibly dressed). Placed in shallow grave well after death . Site shows minimal insect/scavenger activity. Classic secondary disposal. imo

After putting the BAM in his hands, the key point seems to be demonstrating that she was injected while alive. That is proven because her body had begun to metabolize the drug.

What exactly happened? He murdered her and hid her body, but then for some unknown reason decided that her body should be found wearing biking clothing. Was he afraid that BAM would be detected in soft tissue or hair so he waited until she was nothing but bones, not realizing that BAM would be found in her bone marrow? Did he assume that locating her body in biking clothing would clear him? Did he assume that investigators would speculate that animals took her hair?

Did he put her body near her house because he wanted it to be found and so the children could move on?

I don't know about Colorado or now, but in 2004 I was passing through AZ with a truck load of goods for a Renaissance Faire. I wanted to store it for the week while I went to do something else because I was coming back that way for another Renn Faire the following weekend. I stopped at a handy dandy storage rental place and for the low low price of $30 cash rented a 5X8 space for five days, no questions asked, no name given. Not sure how it is now.

Why move the remains? They had stayed hidden for better than 4 years. Why risk the exposures of the simple process of relocating them?

One has to consider that LE was lucky to find them in the known location.....MOO
