Found Deceased CO - BARRY ARRESTED AGAIN - Suzanne Morphew, 49, Chaffee Co, 10 May 2020 *Case dismissed w/o prejudice* *found in 2023* #117

I think Barry might have had thoughts and fantasized about killing Suzanne, but I now do not think he had anything preplanned. I do not think Barry plans much, he is far too disorganised. I do not think he initially thought about moving her,it was reactionary.
I think he wanted her dead in Indiana and fantasized about it when she inherited the money from her mother. I believe he talked her into moving to Salida by using the idea of being closer to Mallory’s college and Macy going to school there as well. I believe he chose that home in that area where she would be isolated. He could trot off and be gone for days at a time and Suzanne said he did just that. When she had enough, he decided his idea to kill her was a good one and then was the time. He likely talked Mallory into inviting her little sister to go on the camping trip. Remember, it was Mallory who hunted with Barry and camped with him. Macy enjoyed doing things with her mom.

correct....

I read on a thread somewhere that there was a different type of soil/ dirt at the scene? I cannot find that anywhere in the GJ indictment.... did I dream that?
I've been looking for this exact thing since this morning. I know I read that also somewhere. It isn't in the autopsy report, and I don't see it in the new AA. definitely wouldn't be int he first AA because her body wasn't found yet. It's driving me crazy because I know I read that and now I can't find it.

What BM had readily on hand was a hot tub full of chemically-treated water. And IIRC, one of BM's afternoon errands on May 9 was a trip to the store from which the Morphew's typically bought the chemicals for their hot tub. IIRC there was some early confusion about whether he visited that store that day or another based on the store's closing time or something like that.

BM also may have had on hand a barrel containing driveway salt (calcium chloride or sodium chloride), this being Colorado with winter snow and ice. I buy mine in gallon containers, but maybe BM bought it in larger.
I'd need to go back and dig, but I thought the hot tub was emptied when LE arrived and was malfunctioning or needed service hence allegedly why he contacted the spa store owners. Many people made commentary about that alleged visit because it was during covid, but I remember thinking that while "stores" were closed in my small town business continued either out the backdoor or in the parking lot just not "in" the actual door which were supposed to be closed. Because I, too, originally thought about the hot tub...but then recall it was empty. That said perhaps he emptied it?

Thinking about the biking clothes found with Suzanne’s body. Does anyone else recall that Barry packed Suzanne’s things and got rid of them right away? I seem to remember reading that in the threads.
I have always believed there was some pre-planning on his part. Not detailed, obviously, because he really made mistakes. But if he had a place prepared to bury her and intended to move her later then why not save some biking clothes to match his story for when she was found?

There was a Salida business owner who petitioned the Court for a PO against SD. SM was a customer of the Owner who alleged she was the subject of stalking and witness intimidation by SD. The hearing was held in 2021 when WebEx was still available to the public and I do recall something about BM contacting a consignment shop to take SM's clothes soon after she was reported missing. There are no recordings of WebEx so I can't provide a link. MOO

ETA: Relative the the alleged "biking clothes" found with SM's body, other than the Yeti shorts-- I disagree with the hooded Crested Butte sweatshirt being part of SM's biking gear. There are photos in prior threads of SM wearing this sweatshirt in her kitchen with her MIL. I think BM destroyed SM's turquoise color riding gear during his Broomfield trash runs. JMO

Still looking for information about whether hot tub was emptied when LE arrived as you've suggested, but regarding the visit to the spa store:

The second day of the preliminary hearing, defense attorneys questioned Grusing about why he didn't include testimony about BM visiting Salida Stove and Spa between 4 and 5:30 pm on May 9. Store employees said BM behaved normally at that visit.

See 4th paragraph from end:

I think it was the ratchet Daily Mail who said it (invented it), in that SD article.

The Indictment references the distinct lack of bug activity which is inconsistent with SM's body decomposing in the Moffat location. The Autopsy report referenced packages that appeared to
have contained probable rocks,
and One paper bag containing “4 packets botany bug" and “2 packets from hoody.”

In essence, the soil was inconsistent with that where a fresh body decomposed but there was no evidence or report of importing different soil/dirt in the documents.

Barry’s Tax Summary from Cave Creek, AZ. Who’s the person listed with him at the Nobelsville, IN address?

IIRC, he was the prior owner of the trailer and is now deceased. I believe keeping his name on the property record was intentional where BM slid into his trailer park lease ("grandfathered") without a background check and/or fanfare. MOO

Ok

I don't know that anyone has captured a pic of the RV he owned but the park seens to be more glamping than anything from images on the park website.
One of our members here took actual photos of the park themselves---it looked nothing like glamping imo. No signs of glamour anywhere. Dive bars and Biker bars behind the mini-mart .

That is a great point I hope they hammer down at trial. That sweatshirt would not have been on Suzanne when she was riding her bike. Biking clothing and that sweatshirt is very odd.

If she is taken from the house, then no stranger or even aquainance of Suzanne would stage a bike ride to throw people off. They just wouldn't do that because there would be no need to. If you are an unknown person, then you don't need to cover anything up.

If she was taken from a bike ride, then she wouldn't be in that sweatshirt so did this person go to the house to get it for some reason? Why? Makes no sense.

And let's not forget that someone taking her from her house or a bike ride either one would have no reason to move her body and risk getting their DNA on any evidence or risk getting seen. There is no benefit to a random stranger moving the body, they went this long unknown so why are they going back to move her oh and also move her clothing she was not wearing when she was decomposing? Why do all that?
