Found Deceased CO - BARRY ARRESTED AGAIN - Suzanne Morphew, 49, Chaffee Co, 10 May 2020 *Case dismissed w/o prejudice* *found in 2023* #117

I cannot believe any decent trailer park would allow a new resident to move in without running a criminal & credit check. This is just basic SOP for almost all parks. Most places will reject anyone with a felony on their record within the last 10 years. It doesn't matter who lives there already, any new person coming to stay more than 10 days will be required to fill out an application and pay for a criminal check at the very least. Which has always made me wonder how he got in that park. The only explanation I can come up with is that this particular park doesn't require a criminal check for ANY resident.
He was not convicted of any felony.

Whatever we may feel, he was innocent until proven guilty. And I assume, not having been convicted, has no formal criminal record.

Maybe she lived in Gilbert? very nice homes there.
MM2 may have been using her Dad's address as her own , without living there, to establish residency for in state tuition.
I did read somewher so iirc, that she was attending college in Arizona for a period of time.
If you stroll around online you may happen upon an address closeby to barry's trailor, that is/was associated with MM2

I don’t remember exactly what it was Barry filed for in Indiana probate court - but wasn’t he granted control over all her assets? That’s how he was able to sell the house. Did he also get all her inheritance money? He also owed her Dad money didn’t he?
I believe he was granted a conservatorship in Indiana that was then recognized in the Colo courts.
They had already paid the Dad the 100k they owed him
I am sure @Seattle1 wil remember the exact details

I'm just cogitating here but.... we know that the most useful evidence of BM's use of the BAM is that of the metabolism activity, showing that SM was alive when it was administered. I wonder what LE would have suggested, had that not been the case. Would the entire case have fallen apart if it hadn't metabolised? Lord love forensic science!

Nothing new here really. Just a recap of arrest in Arizona. From the local newspaper serving Chaffee County.

[…]

The district attorney’s office will be assisted by the Boulder County District Attorney’s Office in this prosecution. The Denver County District Attorney’s Office will provide appellate support. Boulder County District Attorney Michael Dougherty will work the case. “He has consistently provided essential support and leadership to rural prosecutors with limited resources to pursue major cases and obtain justice for victims throughout the state,” the release said.

To follow the case as it progresses, visit Coloradojudicial.gov/cases-interest.

Kelly stated the court hearings will likely be livestreamed.

Morphew waived his extradition hearing, which means he will be held without bond in Arizona for up to 30 days while awaiting transport back to Colorado. The sheriff's office will not disclose, partly for safety reasons, when it will be able to arrange pickup, but the sheriff has until July 21. No court hearings will be scheduled until he arrives at the Alamosa Detention Center.

Anyone aware of whether he had or ever at any point operated a snowmobile? He certainly loves his toys.

Here's why I ask. Suzanne according to BM wore a windbreaker when she went out on the bike, but her remains were found with a sweatshirt that said "Crested Butte." Weather that day-- I can see a need for either sweatshirt or windbreaker just in case, but I'm wondering why the sweatshirt instead of the windbreaker (and I quite frankly don't think she wore anything that day because she was already dead, so-- he chose the clothes.)

As I searched on multiple sites for multiple issues related to BM, I happened across the fact that many, many good restaurants are located in Crested Butte, including a very good steakhouse, I wondered... is this someplace they went to a while back, when things were better? Because honestly, it seems to be a little restaurant hub out there in the area. I'm guessing this is a place where they were when times were better between them, and I doubt she'd have donned such a shirt at this particular time she's alleged to have worn it, but perhaps she did, I don't know. And the hiking opportunities there are quite good, especially off Gunnison Road, County Hwy 12. Very narrow road with a lot of pull-off opps for trails into wilderness, I can see why they sometimes close this road. It's supposedly closed until May, but exactly when it reopens in May is very fluid. I saw Tripadvisor reviews for a period just around thist timeframe where the travelers had evidently been through the area in conventional vehicles in April and early May. But they advised that no matter what, snowmobiles could be an option, and perhaps a better one. (And you can hitch a sled to a snowmobile.)

He swears they had a steak dinner and sex the night before Mother's Day. But they didn't. Maybe that was a prior date, though, and that makes that location another location of interest, jmo. I can't wait-- can't wait-- to see Barry Morphew in prison. And I know he's on his way.

Thank you.

In the days after Suzanne Morphew vanished on Mother’s Day 2020, her friend Tisha Leewaye led a group of volunteers through the wooded hills near the Morphew family home, searching for any sign of where she might have gone.

[…]

Leewaye, who had become acquainted with Suzanne a year earlier, tried to ignore the hysteria and focus on what mattered most: bringing her friend home.

She organized a search of the woods near where Suzanne’s bike was found, hoping to uncover clues that law enforcement might have missed.

Among the search party was an elderly man in his early 70s who accidentally wandered onto the Morphew property while scanning the ground for overlooked evidence.

According to Leewaye, the man was abruptly confronted by Morphew - armed with a shotgun - who shouted at him to get ‘the 🤬🤬🤬* off my property’ and never come back.

‘We were so shocked,’ Leewaye told the Daily Mail. ‘It was such an unsettling interaction, and it was hard to believe someone would act like that towards somebody who was searching for his missing wife.

‘But I guess now we know… I don’t think he ever wanted her body to be found.’

Weeks and months passed without answers.

Leewaye continued organizing search parties and claimed to have had more fractious encounters with Morphew, alleging he often drove past them angrily at speed, heckling and ordering that they stay away from the home - but never once joined in.

I tend to think he placed her on his property somewhere as a first burial site. Paranoia made him react that way.
Otherwise you would want all the help you could find.

People here in Indiana use snowmobiles. I’m sure he had used one since he grew up here.

He was not convicted of any felony.

Barry Morphew was charged with one count of forgery and one count of a mail-in ballot offense after submitting a completed absentee ballot on behalf of his missing wife during the 2020 general election in Chaffee County. Morphew told the FBI he submitted the fraudulent ballot because he "wanted Trump to win." He pleaded guilty to one felony charge of forgery and was sentenced to one year of probation. He was also fined and assessed court costs of $600.

Allowing the Expert Witnesses to testify. Judge Lama struck 12 or 14 of the State's Expert Witnesses for not turning evidence over 'on time' to the Defense before the last trial was to begin, which essentially gutted the entire case.

It’s a ski area and resort they’d been to, short drive west over Monarch Pass.
Not far from oldest daughter’s small college

Yes it was a catch-22 situation where they had sold their Indiana home with a balloon and they both "needed" to sign the final docs to finalize the sale if I becall but with her (at the time missing) he needed the conservatorship to sign for her to complete the transaction that was created before they moved to Colorado.
