Found Deceased CO - BARRY ARRESTED AGAIN - Suzanne Morphew, 49, Chaffee Co, 10 May 2020 *Case dismissed w/o prejudice* *found in 2023* #117

I've been reading up on this technique as well as powdered lime, the body farm, dissolving bodies and bleaching bones.

Y'all are going to have to vouch for my good character when my morning search history gets flagged.

It almost has to be the case that he used consecutive gravesites and multiple methods to destroy evidence.

I think he did most of it, whatever it was and wherever it was, the first night, before anyone knew Suzanne was missing. Two, three locations wouldn't surprise me now.

Then he gambled. He moved her again, after her body was skeletonized. He risked getting caught doing it, that's the craziest part. Fear of re-arrest and fit of greed (to the scale of $15M) muddy have fueled him. He knew they'd hunt him for life if he didn't give ac way to take the heat off him. So he apparently doubled down on the bike/abduction story which no one believed in the first place.

Shows his state of mind if he thinks he can stage an abduction this late in the game and that Moffat would somehow release him from suspicion. Better odds had he planted her bones in JL's backyard. Better odds, but bad odds all around.

Unbarrying her, it beggars belief. But here we are.

A long series of sloppy and impulsive moves --

Executive malfunction.

JMO

I agree 100%. With executive malfunction, people still function well in certain areas of life. They may be good at work but rely on others, more “globally organized”, people, to deal with the rest. I think that Suzanne helped Barry in too many areas, not only bookkeeping for work. I honestly think she was a godsend for him. People say he was a good provider, but forget to factor in Suzanne as the major contributor to his success.

This being said, his irritability and anxiety might be explained, because the best way to adjust for such people is to do things in a “quick and dirty” way, but what does one do if there is some perfectionism on top of it?

Why did he start doing things so irrationally? MOO - Suzanne had been BM’s anchor to reality for many years. She maintained the house, the family, the community ties. I suspect that without her, BM was left with the people of own type. Plus, the first trial mobilized a lot of his nervous energy. So what we see afterwards - moving in with mom, then, to AZ, is a very predicted downward drift, but not only the financial one.

I suspect that Suzanne was the “face” for Barry the businessman, the homeowner, the community member, the family guy. She did it with ease, and with her gone, he could find neither a woman with similar qualities nor even a good friend. (The bitter irony, Iris was the only person who could put a nice face on Barry, but she was his expensive lawyer). What he is left with is a loose agglomeration of people around him. It is easy to get detached from reality and start making odd decisions under the circumstances.

MOO. The basis for my opinion are interviews of Barry with agent Grusing. Barry might be aware that he is under suspicion, but behaves as if he were eager to make a friend.

I was asking the poster why was he on probation if indeed he hadn’t done anything wrong. I actually knew he had. But the poster claimed he never had a record of a felony.
He also got a deferred judgement. He paid a fine, got probation and a deferred judgement. It "might" be on a background check depending on how thorough a check is, but it will not show up as a "conviction". He completed his probation without incident so I'm assuming he met the test for the deferred judgment. This was structured as a plea deal between the state and defense that the judge accepted.

The worst thing was his orders, which parroted defense lies. I’ve never seen anything like it.

I was following the case back then but admittedly a bit superficially. I was waiting for the trial and not paying attention to all this lead-up to the trial. I had no idea this was going on.
What a farce.
Thank goodness LE kept at it.
He’s not wiggling out of this one.

Hello my dear fellow Websleuthers. It's been a hot minute, but I knew exactly where to run upon hearing the fantastic news that ole Bare Bear was back in cuffs.

I have a feeling we will be learning so many more dark details of this sordid case.

After catching up on this thread, per the possibility of BM sexually abusing his wife after shooting her with BAM, it reminded me of one of the listed grievances Suzanne left behind in her notes: "coming out of the woods with pants unzipped" (not her exact words, but something like that). Hmm. He wouldn't have, would he? Would HE? Honestly, disgusting to even type out, but just a thought. This man is a beast, imo.

Another extremely worrying detail per his arrest: Barry was living in Gilbert, AZ. Isn't that the exact city that Tyson D lives in? Creepy, creepy, creepy. If it wasn't for TD's video of Barry being caught off guard, on video, sweaty and flustered and wet, digging in the creek near his house, this case might not have taken off as sensationally as it did. Tyson would be BM's #1 enemy, imo. I just found that interesting.

As you all know, I always believed Suzanne's remains were somewhere on that PP property or just behind it. To now know that she was moved is absolutely unhinged news. And no foot bones? Or hair? And re-dressed? Just...

I think we are only at (finally!) the beginning of what will become one of the most haunting murder mysteries of this decade. I'll be following along. Great to see you all again! <3

I can't tell here if they're talking about her ring or his/CBS:
Investigators recovered documents from Suzanne's iCloud account as part of evidence. One of those documents was a list Suzanne made on May 8, 2020 entitled "grievances." It included notes like "wedding ring," which Barry allegedly took and melted at some point. She also noted women on Facebook, which Barry told her was good for business, as well as an incident in Mexico where Barry tried to take her phone away and look at it.

Evidently hers:
A note on Suzanne’s iCloud account, meanwhile, recorded a list of “grievances,” including an incident in which Barry allegedly melted her wedding ring.

He's just... absolutely disgusting. (jmo)
Oh, Barry, only a good and godly husband would melt a wife’s wedding ring.

I don’t think Suzanne was redressed. She was skeletonized and likely they were loose bones with her clothes thrown on top.

I believe Tyson has moved around. He was at one time in the Southeast, then took a job in the northwest. Haven’t heard since. Hope he is doing okay.

I just double-checked the site and did a search by Name and DOB and got a "file not found" error message...did you search by name or booking number when you found him?

Edited to correct: I just got the booking number and it looks like he's still there. If people want to keep it on file for quick reference, his booking number is G187274.

Don't check by name and DOB. It won't pull his info up that way.
Live and learn and pass it on.

Jane annoys me as much as Iris.

She dropped this absolute gem after Suzanne's autopsy results were revealed:"Barry Morphew is innocent and he could not have killed his wife," said Jane Fisher-Byrialsen, one of Barry's attorneys, at the time. "She got up the morning of Mother's Day, had her cup of coffee, that is now confirmed with the autopsy report. Also confirmed with the autopsy report is that she put on her bike clothes. She was on a bike ride and abducted."

"The tranquilizer that was found in her bones, allegedly, is a very common animal tranquilizer that could be used on farms or by hunters, which are people who are very prevalent in that area of Salida," Fisher-Byrialsen said.

An autopsy report cannot "confirm" she put on her bike clothes (we now know the bike clothes were likely added when Suzanne's body was moved).

Suzanne should have coffee in her system under the state theory of the crime (assuming this is even true).

And no, BAM is not "very common." Barry was the only private citizen in the area who had a prescription for it, and hunters don't shoot animals with tranquilizers. They shoot them with bullets.
Yeah that asinine statement- is going to live on in infamy, lol!!!! I might change my tag line to “BAM - Used by Farms & Hunters Everywhere “ …

I hope those clothes tell their own tale.

I remember an episode more than a year after her disappearance where LE made the claim they knew where Suzanne's body was but couldn't get to it.

It seemed it was someplace east or north of Salida.

Does anyone else remember that?
This is what they said. It wasn’t very specific.

… close to finding Suzanne's body "in a remote and mountainous region nearby the Morphew residence.”

Haha, you suck, Jane.

Vinelink still shows BM in custody. And I'm signed up to receive notifications...

Trial. There's no preliminary hearing or anything, so we've got what we've got (the grand jury indictment).

We'll get pieces via motions and hearings, but I'm not expecting much.
Thank you. I am so disappointed I really thought we would see them !
So we will see Barry at his arraignment and plea hearing and that will probably be it until the trial ,bar the odd scrap of new details.

Welcome to the reunion.

Has anyone noticed any old friends still missing ?

We might get peeks here and there in the motions that are filed.

Eager to prove his innocence (even my keyboard choked on that word), Barry's defense will likely lead with waiving the speedy trial, the start of endless delays.

I'm coining a new word for my good buddy Barry --

Zero parts actual innocence, I'll give him this instead --

InnoSINce.

Air quotes all over the place.
