How is that last one almost a Glamor Shots (sorry, dating myself here!) of mugshots? If I ever need a mugshot…this lighting is incredible. They make him look human - no easy feat these days.
Right? Other than the scrapes, he looked pretty good. The best Barry.

Just south of Moffat, tattered crime scene tape was found road near mile marker 103 on Highway 17 - roughly 50 minutes south of her Salida home.

We spoke with the Moffat Fire Chief and several other community members who confirmed they saw investigators with the CBI.

The CBI, however, has yet to officially confirm this scene as the exact location where she was found.

per my notes on the previous page -
CBI agents located human remains (dry bones found in a shallow grave (3 ft deep)) scattered (across a large swath of sagebrush-dotted prairie estimated to be around 75 yards) in a dry field of sagebrush & natural grasses (on east side of Saguache County) in the area of Moffat in Saguache County (which is 45 miles south of Salida) on State Hwy 17 & near mile marker 103 at County Road R on Friday, Sept. 22, 2023 during an unrelated investigation (CBI was searching for 55-year-old Edna Quintana who had gone missing in the region on May 3, 2023) .

Thanks @Niner , much appreciated.

So, it could be that the missing bones are still at that location, they just have not been found? The grave must have been disturbed by wild animals and perhaps some of the (larger) bones carried off and the smaller bones dispersed or just missed?

Grinds my gears that Murphy fell for that and pulled out of the Morphew case instead of the Darke one.
IIRC, he conflicted off both cases where his lifelong bosom friend represented Dark - as a defendant in the trespassing case and as a witness in the murder case. He wrote a three page analysis of why the law left him no choice, but it's no longer posted on the 11th District site.

Maybe they have to log the address shown on his drivers license?
Just a guess.
Not sure why else they would do that.
That property shows up as being owned by Mallory Morphew.

If I understand correctly, Colorado voters recently amended the constitution to state that, in the case of first degree murder, judges were once again allowed to decline setting bail in a first degree murder case.

This article (written before the vote) explains the amendment, which passed. Amendment I: No bail for first degree murder in Colorado, explained

I wonder how it will go? BM will not be able to demonstrate community ties since he was brought in from Arizona. I expect Barry's counsel will propose a plan where BM stays in Colorado with some sort of monitoring. The judge might decide that BM is not a risk to the community and set a high but not exorbitant amount of bail. Then we will see if a bonding agency thinks he is a good bet to show up for trial.

And no consequences for the various lawyers who coordinated to create the circumstances that required recusal.

If a corporation colludes in price-fixing, it is illegal, but if lawyers coordinate in judge-fixing it is another day in Colorado.

His address was a reportedly decrepit old trailer in a trailer park. I feel that SM was haunting him from beyond the grave.

Barry Morphew's listed address was in Stardust trailer park in AZ. He reportedly was living in a shabby trailer, although I do not have images to support this. MOO

The Stardust Trailer Park in Cave Creek, AZ, is a boutique kind of place. It is very small, and units are close to each other, but it is clean and well-kept.

Older trailers in the park are not decrepit, but rehabbed into nice, comfortable living quarters.

There are also spots with modern RVs.

Though it is not in the most scenic location, is is very walkable to many eateries, bars, and shops in both Cave Creek and Carefree.

The Stardust appears to be a decent place to stay rather than the envisioned “trailer trash” parks of old.

My DH and I drove through the park last year when staying for several weeks in Carefree, while doctoring at Mayo. I did not take photos because it felt conspicuous to do so.

I saw BM twice at the local grocery store, once in the parking lot, outside a white Ford pickup (with Indiana plates) and once in a checkout line behind me.

I’m so very glad he’s been arrested again, and have absolutely NO DOUBT he is guilty of murdering SUZANNE.

May justice prevail quickly.

I noticed he is in medium security! JMO Would he do something to not have to face trial and go down as a martyr to his family?
He does not have the psyche to be in prison IMO

I noticed his phone has a CO area code and his address in CO is where Mallory lives.

I looked up his listed number and saw 317 is an Indiana area code, not CO.

No, and there can't be without restricting the defendant's ability to choose her lawyer.

The problem would have been avoided completely if LE were wiser. The Sheriff thought he could squeeze Darke if he arrested her on a thin trespass charge, and the prosecutors failed to notice that she was listed as their witness. If they had dismissed the case before arraignment, she would not have needed an attorney. (They ultimately dismissed it, anyway, having shot themselves in the foot).

The choice of attorney was as much serendipity as anything else: Nielsen's husband was a partner in Judge Murphy's friend's firm - a top shelf defense firm at the time. I'm sure that's how Darke came to be represented by the firm.

But I think you're spot on about the tactical advantage Morphew gained by removing Murphy, the best criminal justice lawyer on the 11th District Court. No one else came close.
