BOULDER, Colo. – New technology is giving Boulder County investigators hope that they can solve a 25-year-old cold case by putting a name to a face and bringing closure for a man known since 1993 only as John Doe.

Are these two different cases?

Original post: Post mortem photo shows a man with short hair who appears to be / was deemed to be a black man. Date found was given as October 10, 1993.

Linked article just above:
Shows a sketch of a man with long hair and testing shows European ancestry. Date found given as November 11, 1993.

Oh damn, sorry it was probably my sleep deprived eyes not reading the article properly. 2 John Does so close together.

No problem, there were 2 found a month apart with similar circumstances.
John Doe found in October '93 (NamUs UP516) -
"...lying on a talus pile at the bottom of a rock formation in Chautauqua Park in west Boulder. Aside from a few contusions and abrasions on his lower legs, there was no evidence of injury. Toxicology tests proved negative."
(CASE NUMBER - 850UMCO)

John Doe found in November '93 (NamUs UP517)-
"...near Gregory Canyon in Boulder... a man's body inside some shrubbery...causes of death remains undetermined...There’s no outward trauma. There were no findings in his toxicology testing..." (https://www.thedenverchannel.com/ne...tors-hoping-to-identify-man-in-1993-cold-case)

Easy to confuse the cases.

And I just found the thread for the man (UP517) from the article you posted:
CO - CO - White male, 25-45,long blond/light brown hair, 5'3''-5'8, ''Gregory Canyon,11 Nov. 1993

Stumbled upon this case as it shows an update yesterday, although I am unsure of what the update was.

No comparisons

Why would Victor Shin have been compared to this John Doe?

Being found at the bottom of a rock formation would lead me to believe he fell and broke his neck (or something similar) but apparently this was not the case. I wonder what killed him.

MP51107 Livingstone Kiniaru Njoroge was last heard from on 12/30/1989. He had come from the East Central African state of Kenya in 1987 to study at Hesston College in Kansas. He was 32 years old with a height of 5’8” and weight of 176lbs. His race/ethnicity is Black/African/Asian
Forensic dentistry suggests that this UID might have been a recent immigrant from North Africa.
Not only do age/height/weight/race/ethnicity align, they happen to look compellingly similar.

is it the same person in both pictures? They look like two different people, is it just me?

Same person. I’m guessing the the pic with black tank top was taken first (when found) and the second pic with hospital gown was taken later (MEO, perhaps)
