CASTLE ROCK, Colo. — A woman who was last seen on Sunday morning in Castle Rock is now missing, police say.

Catherine Hay, 23, of Littleton, was last seen on Sunday around 9 a.m. in the Meadows neighborhood in northwest Castle Rock, according to the Littleton Police Department.

She is an avid hiker and often climbs 14,000-plus-foot peaks, but police said her gear was left at home.

She may be driving a blue 2019 Chevrolet Trax with license plate number BSB-B62.

Anybody with information on her whereabouts is asked to call Littleton Det. Christina Goodman at 303-795-3896.

Denver7 has reached out to the police department to gather more information on this case. No other details were available as of 7:20 a.m.
Tuesday.

What was she doing when she was last seen? Watering her front flower bed? Talking to a neighbor? Getting in her car and driving away? There’s not much info. Was she still in college?

I agree, there's not much info given. Who does she live with? According to her Linkedin page, she got BS in biochemistry from University of Michigan in 2021. She moved to Colorado in Oct 2021 and has been working as a research assistant at CU. Perhaps she's working on her Master's?

I am assuming her car is still missing. I wonder if it has a tracking device installed and if so is it operational.

If she lives in Littleton, the place she was last seen (Castle Rock) is not close to home. They are like 20 miles apart.

But yeah, I too am curious what she was doing when she was last seen.

Littleton Police FB post has updated information as to her "last known location," which is now Granite, CO. Which is a very different location than Castle Rock, where she was "last seen." LE do not say what time she was known to be in Granite. Was she seen there, or is there digital evidence? Is the difference in terminology intentional?

I’m guessing a transaction w/o video of her, or maybe a phone ping.

Either way though the Granite area makes a lot of sense if she was going for a hike/climb. Seems likely she ran into trouble in the mountains.

It also seems pretty late in the day to start a climb, which makes a hike the more likely of the two possibilities. Concerning either way, but more likely she’s still out there and relatively okay after a hiking mishap than a climbing one.

Dad is posting on a forum for hikers. I was able to find it googling Catherine's name. He offers information that is not being released by LE or media.

Wow, I second this for anyone wanting to know a little more.

[Catherine Hay had last been seen around 9 a.m. Sunday...
The Littleton Police Department said Wednesday afternoon she was found dead and that investigators do not suspect foul play. The department did not say where in Chaffee County she was found and said there was no threat to the public. The Chaffee County Sheriff's Office assisted in the investigation, police said.

Only 23. Athletic, accomplished & beautiful. I wish she had found some way to hang on.

Gone too young.
RIP, Catherine.

So she committed suicide, I guess?

Sadly, that appears to be the outcome. The media are including a suicide hotline contact in their stories, which is another clue.

Her father announced her death on a 14ers hiking forum after asking for help to locate her.

I wonder if where Catherine was located could have some "value" as to why she isn't alive.
Could that be why LE won't say more about where she was found.

I think the location kept quiet so it doesn’t become a ”point of interest” on the trails.

I swear I read that she was in some field but I cannot find it now. Maybe I'm crazy or maybe it was scrubbed for whatever reason. I did not that articles had been edited several hours after original publication. Anyway, I guess I'm saying that I think you are right but I can't prove it.

I hope her parents and other loved ones are doing ok. Although I do find it curious that she drove so far from Littleton if she planned suicide. Could it have been a place of meaning for her or someone else?
