Death investigation underway after body of missing woman found in Colorado Springs

CSPD said officers received a report on the night of July 28 of a missing person. Police said it was reported that Cheryl Bennett, 56, had walked away from her home and had not been heard from.

"COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (KKTV) - An investigation is underway after a woman who was reported missing was found dead in Colorado Springs last week.

According to the Colorado Springs Police Department (CSPD), the department received a report on the night of July 28 of a missing person from the 4400 block of Champions View, near Dublin Boulevard and Austin Bluffs Parkway.

Police said it was reported that Cheryl Bennett, 56, had walked away from her home and had not been heard from.

On Friday, police said they were dispatched to the 6400 block of Austin Bluffs Parkway, about two miles south of that Champions View address, on a report that someone had located a dead body. When officers arrived on scene, they said they found a dead woman in the area."

Man searching for answers after his mom was found dead in Colorado Springs

A man who lives outside of Colorado is trying to retrace his mom's steps in Colorado Springs after her body was found on Aug. 1.

Not much is being released as of yet, including cause/manner of death. Her celebration of life was yesterday. I agree with her son, hopefully residents will look at any cameras that could help, even if she's NOT seen in the footage.
