Does anyone else remember how on 12.31.16 they reported that he had blue/hazel eyes and then later that day or 1.1.17 they said his eyes are brown.

In my experience watching cases on WS, changing details tend not to indicate anything good.

No offense to anyone on these boards who works in msm.
Just an observation from past cases where I've taken msm to be the the unvarnished truth and later read something quite different on another msm site.

If there are 3 other siblings it seems as if the home was busy - how can a 6 year old just take off without anyone seeing? The house is not that big.. Also he took the time to dress himself in a jacket and boots..

THAT is a BIG difference.

I could tell you what color my kids' eyes are without thinking. Also that one of them has a mole on his leg (back of the right calf) ... and that one of them has a severe case of embedded earbuds... Ok that last bit was me being silly.

However I'm inclined to think this was msm getting it incorrect ! Hopefully a reporter didn't look at his missing photo and guess David's eye color.

They'd have asked his mother ,or checked his school records.

David's school let msm know he'd wandered away before.
Kind of surprised his school let that be known-- as some schools are pretty private about their student's records.

Ugh. Camouflage.

Why do kids ever need to wear camouflage? It's dangerous for them. Can deer and turkeys even see color? If kids go hunting they should be dressed in bright colors so no one shoots them. If they don;t go hunting, no need for camo. IMO.

What a beautiful kid, with such an impish, adorable smile. I'm surprised this case hasn't gotten more media attention.

How far can a six year old go without food/water and without a shelter when it's cold? I don't understand how he hasn't been found by searchers, and I think LE is wasting time by not exercising other options (like being picked up).

Well, I;m sure they have been exercising all options. But we won;t see them doing so because that's mostly behind the scenes.

I think the only way he could survive is by holing up somewhere sheltered.

I really hope they checked the parent's house thoroughly. (not implying anything, just that maybe he may be hiding inside and unnoticed?)

It's happened. Kids have been found dead in certain places not looked for. Like under the porch.

I can tell you firsthand that when a loved one is missing, you aren't paying much attention to what's being reported and could easily miss something like an incorrect BOLO or missing poster, especially in the first few days. And mistakes can be made by officials trying to help.

Details like eye color changing don't seem problematic, because many things can account for mistakes in initial descriptions. Now if the details surrounding the disappearance, like times and circumstance and location changed, I might be with you.

So far, what I have seen of the mom's statements indicate a frightened mother holding on to the vain hope that someone nice took her kid in and worrying about his lack of warm clothing.

The spokesperson said it was because the family spent some time looking for David before reporting him missing but that doesn't make sense. Surely the family had already told LE earlier how long David was gone and how long they looked before calling 911, otherwise LE wouldn't have reported the 5:30 disappearance time in the first place. I'm not ready yet to turn a stink eye onto family but it does make me wonder.

IMO if LE doesn't find David tonight it's going to turn into a recovery operation. I'm afraid it's already too late. :tears:

Maybe after the fight with sibling he went to his room in a huff, grandma leaves him to cool off for a bit before checking on him, 15 minutes later she goes in and he is gone. Spend another 30 - 45 minutes doing your own search around inside and outside the house, panic, then call police. That scenario does not seem hinky to me. Just moo, but if he storms off regularly the wait to call police seems legit.

It's common here in Colorado because many people take the screens out to put in storm glass, which basically just means they double-pane the glass, in order to keep out the elements.

This process is especially useful if you heat your home with a fireplace or something that is not Central heat. You end up saving a LOT of money in the winter.

Also, many people here do not have air conditioning for summer. They use these things called swamp coolers instead. You have to keep windows cracked to help the air flow to keep your house cool. You would remove the second pane of glass and put a screen in so bugs or small wildlife don't enter.

Agreed, I've lived in CO for 18 years and I never remove my screens. I didn't know that was a thing until I read that here.

I keep checking for updates. I looked out my window a bit ago to close my curtains. It's dark, cold, and scary out there for a 6 year old. My heart aches for that little boy and I hope he is found soon.

Re: Window screens

We moved to CO in the winter. The first house I lived in here had double panes and we were supposed to trade out the second pane for screens in preparation for summer. We moved before we had to do that.

The second house does not have double panes but there are screens. We never change them because it seems like an awful lot of work when half the house basically has two-story windows.
