Paul Gallenstein was born August 4th, 1959 in Ohio. Paul's early years were spent in Massachusetts until his family moved to Fort Collins, Colorado when he was 14. Paul received his BS degree in Economics in 1981 from Colorado State University. In 1987 he married his wife Cindy at St. Joseph Catholic church.
Paul loved fly-fishing, and was a kind and God-fearing man. He was active within his community, even Paul had no children of his own, he was known for mentoring young adults. Paul also had a entrepreneurial spirit, he founded a 55 gated community called Sunflower Active Adult community, with his wife. in 2016 Paul and Cindy had decided to retire after 20 years of operating Sunflowers, so spend the rest of their lives traveling, cooking, Fly-fishing and enjoying time with the people they cared about. Paul drove five miles from his house to hike at the popular Foothills Trail, this popular trail winds along Fort Collins's Horse tooth reservoir. Despite this being a popular trail no one heard or saw what had happened to him.
At 10:18 am a call was placed to 911, by a male runner and a female cyclist who had come cross Paul's body on the trail around skyline Picnic Area. Pauls cause of death was due to multiple gunshot wounds, The location and amount have not been released.
No weapons or casings were found at the scene, and nothing was found to be missing from Paul or his vehicle. According to the two witnesses, they didn't see anyone else on the trail and had heard no gunshots. Both of these witnesses were cleared by police. The authorities have no suspects or persons of interest and no motive, so the case is starting get cold.
There of course had been other theories as to what happened to Paul but none of them match up, suicide was a possible theory but there was no weapon at the scene and according to loved ones he had no money problems nor marital problems, so this theory doesn't check out. A source claims that Paul had his headphones in and was listing to his favorite fly-fishing podcast when he was shot which would make a confrontation unlikely Still to this day Paul's death has remained a homicide and has remained unsolved
