I believe it is immediately, there is something that has to do with a hormonal chemical change in the body once it has been deceased. It gives off certain hormones. Even if something was only deceased for a couple of moments cadaver dogs will hit on the spot that it was in even if it has been moved. Obviously, it would hit on an area if the cadaver is there.

I would think that they would be barking or something with all the commotion. I know that my dogs would be right there in the middle of it all. In fact one would be protecting me with everything he had.

Of course they could have been crated or cowering in a corner somewhere. That might have been the smart thing to do.

Surprised that someone like her would have dogs.

I don't have a link, but I remember reading several articles about this during the Kelsey Berreth case. I know one of them said as little as four minutes. I was amazed.

Not surprised at all. As for spousal privilege - he could chose to waive it (despite her objections) if he wanted to. It's there to protect him if he didn't want to testify against her. I would be shocked if he did anything to help her at this point.
