I keep looking for this site to say "Found" ! "32 and not yet! Please let Gannon be found! I don't know why this means so much to me over many other cases but I guess I feel that this is solvable and in my heart Gannon needs to be united with his loving family! I so hope my heart is right!

I'm sure we've all noticed it as well, but since he's family and not a suspect or POI discussion/sleuthing him is pretty much off limits anyway.
He just hasn't been seen publicly in this case. Probably all I can say.

She’s a brazen desperado and has been for decades. That escape attempt in Kansas was her second one. The first was when she high-tailed it to SC. Cops knew it too, that’s why they moved in so fast to apprehend her. Her wriggling out of the handcuffs just showed her experience with handcuffs and her brazenness. But I would not rule out suicide at some point, if and when she feels her back is against the wall and there’s a conviction with no hope of an appeal.

I think the story was she was loading undefined sports equipment in the car to sell so she could buy G a hockey stick, "because that was the only sport that seemed to interest him". Can't forget all the passive aggressive barbs she let go about G in her statements.

Gannon is a hero!!! As much as watching this has gutted me, I also find it comforting to see his smiling face and know that in his short life he had many happy times, brought joy to others, and was/is loved!

@SleuthBee thank you for your kind words. You are so right about the mental abuse being worse than the physical. They can actually make you question your own sanity. I am so happy that you too were able to get out of that relationship. Everyone on this site has been so welcoming and so caring. We all share in the desire to see justice for Gannon and closure for his family. I imagine that we are all kindred spirits in that respect. It's so nice to have a place to vent about this horrific crime.

Like you, I was in a long term marriage with a diagnosed NPD. And despite my education and professional standing, I was truly unaware of the disorder. You are right, abuse is not always physical, but the gaslighting, the lying and blaming can be worse. The devil in disguise doesn't have horns and carry a pitchfork.

If they do offer any sort of deal here, an Alford plea would be a disaster in every sense. No admission of guilt, and no body.

2x4's are actually very common -- they're typically used to frame walls -- better known as "wall studs," and they meet code in most areas for interior walls and sometimes exterior walls. A 2x4 that was 3 or 4 feet long could easily be swung as one would swing a bat -- with both hands. But, the fact it was bloody indicates she swung multiple times and likely to the head where the board made contact with the blood from a previous head wound. It sounds as if she totally lost it, and when she came to her senses, she realized she'd gone way beyond any normal discipline. At that point, she had to disappear GS. And now she will suffer a much harsher punishment than she would have for child abuse. Her world is crashing around her and the walls are closing in.

I read on the Colorado site that fingerprint checks were mandatory. Did the South Carolina Board notify the National Reporting Database for disciplinary actions and sanctions? I’m sorry but someone like this would have never got past my Board. I know States have different administrative code and rules/regulations written into their statutes but there are mandated national standards. States have auditors that should be set in stone when agencies are up for review designated in their State Strategic Plan for each fiscal year. Did North Carolina check the database?

eta: I should have noted I didn’t work for an education licensing board so I probably should just shut my mouth. I think I will leave it to the educators kindly participating in this thread. You are appreciated. I worked for a physician board which may not be relevant to this topic.

I understand your frustration.
I can't answer to whether particular databases were checked before TS was granted a license by a state or employed by a particular school. But I do think it's unlikely 3 different states (and multiple individual school districts within those states) failed to carry out their published procedures.

All 3 states require fingerprints at some point too. So I don't think TS's use of "aliases" as discussed on WS is necessarily related. Plus, criminal charges aren't the same as criminal convictions.

It could be states don't always enter criminal convictions into the required database. That's probably somewhat rare BUT we have seen instances, for example, when the military failed to, allowing people who otherwise would not have qualified to pass background checks and buy weapons.

I think it's more likely the qualification procedures aren't as rigorous as one would like. Tightening those up could make sense as long as changes aren't overly "reactive" based on this case, tragic as it is. I also expect there are more licensed teachers (and other school professionals) with past criminal charges than we might suspect even in states with "rigorous" procedures.

You’d think so, but one thing that would be for sure is what AS, LH and their baby girl had to say about her, especially in light of the fact that he kicked her out of the house straightaway.
