Yes even the judge asked her if she needed some water in a pointed way. She seemed to respond with a laugh and reached for her full cup. I thought the presentation by prosecution vs defense was like apples and oranges. Not even. Apples and bowling balls.
I really hate to hear this. The defense needs to step up their game. I think that women sometimes have an instinctual reaction of laughing and smiling to cope in stressful situations and as a professional one must be aware of it and adjust accordingly. JMO

I am thinking maybe. But she had enough in her to give the middle finger salute while sitting there

I wonder who that was aimed at?

I have a question regarding jail—-can they use technology at this juncture?
All her phone calls will be subject to the usual monitoring. That should be the extent of it though.

Wonder if that was on purpose....
Gannon is my hero!... I tried to copy that in a natural way of clasping my hands... nope, that takes practice...MOO

here is my take on what the states Attorney said today, Tee did intentionally kill Gannon, she then made a plan to dispose of him and carried it out...….
Now understand that when they gathered evidence they gather all cell phone data too.......even stuff that Tee might have deleted..

now if she texted anyone and said, he is gone and I took care of the body...…...then that's all they need...….they can prove it was planned and not only that, they will use the person she texted to get more of the story if they know it...….that's the reason I strongly believe it could have been Harley she texted.....or one of her sisters..hence the reason none of them were in court today...….I believe they have way more then we can even think about on her!!

But why did she take him in the truck if not to kill him after what she’d done? I don’t believe she drove around with him and he died while she shopped dog coats.
I don't know, I guess we will have to wait until we read about the enormous amount of evidence they have.

It could not have taken very long to go into the store and buy dog coats. They were gone for four hours.

Maybe he died at some point during that truck ride and she panicked so she began scheming and planning what to do with him and how to cover her tracks.

Imo

Public Defenders.
Yes. The judge originally wanted to set the next court date for April 15th and one of them asked if they could move it up a week because she had another murder trial starting that week. Imagine getting hit with 1,000+ pages of discovery, 100+ search warrants and a wretched client when you’re in the middle of getting ready for another murder defense. Do they pick public defenders the same way they pick judges (next on rotation) or do they give consideration to skill set and/or do public defenders get to lobby for their cases?

Do you think this is a tasty morsel for the public defenders or a burden they’d rather avoid? I know it’s a case that can put them on the map but trips to King Soopers are going to involve lots of whispers and glares for a while.

In agreement with death taking place in truck.

did anyone notice that the deputy or guard that is standing close to Tee has a Gannon bracelet on!??
I’ll have to go find a picture. I didn’t notice but I love it!

I have a big cold right now, and am not arguing this point tonight.
I hope your cold gets better.

As for the defense, it isn’t arguable. In this day and age, anyone should know to carry a handkerchief with them at all times. It is indefensible.

As this case goes to trial, will AS be called as a witness against TS?

Solid write-up on today’s hearing, IMO:

“The parents of 11-year-old Gannon Stauch sat in a front row in court Tuesday as the stepmother accused in the missing boy’s presumed murder made a brief appearance.

The defendant, Letecia Stauch, 36, was formally charged with first-degree murder and three other counts.

She did not address the court during a roughly 15-minute hearing, but whispered several times to one of the public defenders representing her.

Nor did she look at Gannon’s parents, Albert Stauch and Landen Hiott, who sat next to each other and kept their gaze trained on the judge. Letecia Stauch’s long black hair mostly hid her profile from observers in the gallery.

The courtroom was filled to capacity, except for a front row reserved for Letecia Stauch’s supporters, which remained empty.

Fourth Judicial District Judge Gregory Werner ordered that prosecutors ‘immediately’ provide the defense with a copy of Letecia Stauch’s arrest affidavit. That document, which lays out grounds for her arrest, remains under a sealing order.

The judge said he will issue a written order later in response to a motion filed by numerous media outlets, including The Gazette, that the document be made available to the public. The prosecution said it did not object to the media request. The defense, which as [sic] asked for a gag order limiting pretrial statements in the case, has already filed a response opposing the document’s release.

More than 1,000 pages of law enforcement reports and at least 107 search warrants have been generated thus far; lead prosecutor Michael Allen also cited ’tons‘ of video footage, obtained from cell phones and other sources.

Because none of the material has been made available to the defense, the judge set an April 13 review hearing at which he will address next steps in the case. The judge could decide then whether any of the investigative materials will be publicly available under the state’s open record’s [sic] laws, or if they will be kept under seal.

At a news conference afterward, Allen didn’t rule out a potential death-penalty bid against Letecia Stauch, saying his office will evaluate both whether the case is eligible for a capitol trial and whether prosecutors will pursue one.

His comments come even as Democratic lawmakers in Colorado mull a repeal of the death penalty in Colorado.

Prosecutors filed the same four counts announced at the time of the defendant’s arrest. They are first-degree murder of a child less than 12 by one in a position of trust; child abuse resulting in death; tampering with a body; and tampering with evidence.

The ’position of trust’ element of the murder charge lowers the bar prosecutors must prove to obtain a mandatory life term in prison.

Prosecutors generally must prove that someone intended to kill and deliberated for causing someone’s death. In the case of the charge against Letecia Stauch, the prosecution need only prove that she ’knowingly’ caused the boy’s death.

The child abuse count his [sic] the second-highest charge against her, carrying a potential penalty of up to 48 years in prison.

She wore a lime-green jumpsuit in court Tuesday, indicating she is likely being kept separate from other inmates. Sheriff’s spokeswoman Deborah Mynatt did not return a voicemail inquiring about Letecia Stauch’s custodial arrangements.

Are you sure about that? Shower privileges have to be earned, are not given. She's dangerous, she's new to the system, and people around her are too busy to put together the means to guard and supervise her in the shower.

She is going to have to show that she can act with respect towards others (there are no private showers in most jails), and that she won't attack other prisoners. Apparently she forgot to pack her dry shampoo.

She doesn't look the least bit fragile to me. Her hair definitely looked brushed, just not recently shampoo'ed.
Bet she doesn't have money to buy shampoo. Or the shampoo is that cruddy. I think soap is provided and maybe shampoo is not. Even if it is, her hair is too long for the amount provided. moo

Since defense raised the question, if the judge does have a reputation it’s likely he’s harder on criminals. I’m OK with that.

This may have already been answered but can somebody tell me why T was sitting in the jury box instead of at the defense table?

And that blonde haired woman sitting next to her was an attorney? The way she hovered next to T and didn’t stop talking even when the judge was speaking I first thought she was a (mental) health attendant.

And can I just say it irks me beyond words that CO law prevent media coverage in court except for arraignments, some status hearings and sentencing.
As I understand, LS required being locked/chained to her chair maybe due to escape attempt in KS. The chairs in the section where she sat are bolted and safe to secure someone to. The person beside her was one of her legal team as was the coughing person. Ordinarily defendant would be at defense table with access to talk to their attorneys. Since she was in a different spot, one of her team sat with her.
