I'm pretty sure police can question a minor (as a witness) without parental consent. The way it works where I live is that they can question the child, but if a parent is present they can stop the questioning and tell police they don't want their child questioned. I think it works that way in most states.

So without a parent present LE can question a minor about a crime without consent.

However, if it is the minor who is suspected of committing a crime they can't question them without parental consent.

I'm not sure if TS's daughter has turned 18 yet, but I see no reason why she wouldn't be allowed to testify.
Children have testified against their parents in court before.

There was a case in which a child drowned and the mother was accused of drowning her. Her five or six year old brother testified against his own mother, telling the court that she held his sister under the water. I can't remember the exact case but I saw the little boy testify in court. It was heart breaking. He cried when he saw his mother again sitting in the courtroom.

Imo

Yes, they can question a minor without a parent’s consent, at least in my state they can. Example: Domestic violence. Phone call made to police, mom is outside of home speaking to PO, domestic partner has been arrested and children are inside the home with a PO. They will definitely question the children as to what happened without the parents even knowing. They know parents may coach their children so they would rather get them away from the parents in hopes they get the truth and not what a parent coached them into saying.
Also, I’m shocked I didn’t see CPS/DCFS as witnesses. They should have been involved immediately if she’s a minor. She may be 18, but Laina is a minor and this automatically puts CPS in the picture. They have to ensure Laina has a safe place to live, with whom, look into their past and any involvement a family may have had with them prior to this. Pretty sure CPS/DCFS process works about the same across all states. I may be missing something or maybe this has already been talked about somewhere.

Thanks so much! Is it possible T is talking???
I don’t know. Spencer Wilson reported that it was just a search and the Sheriff’s office would be tweeting about it soon.

Maybe they are just picking up where they left off or we can hope and pray she is talking. Jmo

Unless they are only going to use the Ring provider testimony, I don't understand why he wouldn't be a witness. Yes that's video from my home. I showed it to so and so and gave a copy to so and so.??

His camera wasn't even Ring brand. I think it was Century Link? I did see that a Ring law enforcement specialist was listed, but that may be because the Stauchs and other neighbors have Rings.

Edit: RD's camera is Xfinity

I read the complaint:
https://www.courts.state.co.us/user...so/20CR1358/001/Complaint and Information.pdf

and felt sick reading out the descriptions of the charges. So many witnesses! And I agree @Gray this tells us where she was. Hoping that Gannon is found soon - we're expecting snow again tomorrow night :(

Gannon, may you rest in peace!!! We're taking care of justice for you!

The witness list is interesting.

Items to note IMO:
  • Waste Management Transfer Station in Colorado Springs
  • Big Wave Car Wash
  • Petco (on N. Nevada Ave)
  • Nintendo Product Support
  • Several banks and credit card companies
  • A cloud computing company
  • Avis Rental and Enterprise Rental
  • Kohls
  • Subway
  • Several gas stations
  • Tile Inc (hmmm could this have to do with replacing flooring? EBM - Nope, not flooring. It's the Tile keychain thing. I guess LS must have had one of those on her keychain!)
  • Vapor Source (I'm assuming this is a vape shop)
  • Widefield Water and Sanitation and some other utility companies
  • Ring (door bell cameras!)
  • Verizon
  • Memorial Hospital Security (this might be one in Abilene, Kansas - close to Salina)
  • Some school district contacts
  • A business called "EZ Lock" - can't find any info on this
  • USAA
  • Lots of individuals, including some that might be Gannon's friends (poor kiddos having to be involved in this!)
  • Gannon's sister :( :( :( :(
  • Gannon's step sister!

This witness list can pretty much tell us where she was.

Whatever they have found thus far has convinced LE that Gannon is deceased. We don't know what it is but I expect the worst.
Same. ^^^

Would just the Human Remains Detection dogs hitting on scent on the truck or rental vehicle be enough proof ?
(thanks to another member who's name I've forgotten who corrected me. It's not 'cadaver dogs'.)
Does anyone here know ?

As far as the Petco loss and prevention, it could be that she “lost” her phone there during her first trip and had to go back and pick it up? MOO

Loss Prevention would be the ones in charge of the video.

Strange that it is the same search location that was cancelled the day before TS was arrested. Maybe they are just picking up where they left off or we can hope and pray she is talking. Jmo

Ita.
That would be the best thing she could do at this point.
Not holding my breath, though.

I spoke with one of the sheriff's office spokeswomen today. She tells me just because you don't see large search efforts doesn't mean they've stopped looking. They are still searching and bringing #GannonStauch home remains their goal.

Loss Prevention would be the ones in charge of the video.

She left her phone at home supposedly. Maybe she stole something (untraceable) to use in the crime, and bought something also that day as a ruse/diversion. Maybe whatever it was, she didn’t want on the receipt. I thought of this a while ago. Must have been something not too big in order to steal it.

Thanks for info on when it would be detected. They might also look to see if hair or skin cells from G, or any fibers from the clothes he was wearing appeared on anything she may have purchased and then later returned to a store. Perfect place to hide physical evidence.

Intriguing idea.

Which brings us along to where LE was weeks ago:

What is missing from the house?

What has fibers on it that tell the story of what happened? Where is the blood evidence?

Is a duffel bag missing? A shovel? Any floor coverings? Wood? Electronics? Bicycles? Hockey sticks? Sports equipment? Exercise equipment? Gannon's clothing? A gate key?

There is one witness who knows an awful lot about these questions: AS.

Oh...and there's a carwash witness. And new retail stores. Things are coming together.

Agreed.
And add me to the last sentence as well.
I will not give up hoping he'll be found and all will revealed.

No one picked up on the blood splatter experts on the list so I thought I’d mention it
It's been mentioned a couple of times by some clever sleuthers.
How they came into the investigation will be mentioned in the PC, I assume.

Just having a read of the Register of Actions
https://www.courts.state.co.us/userfiles/file/Court_Probation/04th_Judicial_District/El_Paso/20CR1358/001/Register of Actions from February 28 2020 to March 12 2020.pdf

Page 4, first line with date caught my attention.
Mandatory protection Order Grant
Letecia Stauch
*****Victim******

Given that they believe Gannon has passed, surely it wouldn't be a protective order against him would it? So who else would be the "victim"
Shall not harass, injure, molest, intimidate, threaten, retaliate against or tamper with any witness to or victim of the acts you are charged with committing.

I worked loss prevention at Walmart and they are always getting brought into court just because they run the cameras and they are the ones that provide LE with the picture and video they need of anything that goes on inside and outside the store!

Huge list. Who names a convenience store 🤬🤬🤬&Go? Somebody skipped the focus groups on that one.
The cigarette/smokable thingys lighters they sell are quite the popular item among younger folk, have been seeing them for many years
