Can we address the elephant in the room. Why on Earth is TS in the Psych Ward?! Either...

1. She’s suicidal or pretending to be.

2. She’s planning on waging an insanity defense.

3. They are protecting her from other inmates. Unfair and don’t they interact in there also?

4. They are trying to protect her from CoVid.

5. She’s planning an escape and restrictions are looser.
6. She's been exhibiting wild and murderous behavior and they're trying to monitor and medicate her so she can participate in her counsel. jmo

Gannon...
I like 3 or 4...
IMHO, she is exactly where she should be, as long as it is a permanent residency.

Aren’t the accommodations better there than in a regular cell? Anyone know? Does she have more protections in their from inmates and virus?

Woah, and how about this?

Attorney for #LeteciaStauch say masks covering people’s faces in court stops them from seeing important facial reactions, and therefore they can’t go to court while that safety precaution is in place.

Which could be like, several months. Maybe more.

Nice try! I imagine that court proceedings will take place via video. In fact, in many other jurisdictions they already are. I mean their client did do a lengthy interview backwards! They better get used to it!

I don't think the main trial will take place for many months anyway!

Perhaps they should just put up a clear plexiglass shield around the witness box. It could easily be disinfected regularly.

Yes!!! I was thinking the same thing! Or they could wear a clear medical shield like Drs. do. I gotta hand it to her defense for trying, but I'm certain something can be figured out to move on with the court schedule.

Spencer has the scoop, y’all :

Spencer Wilson on Twitter

Ok, so @EPCSheriff is basically saying #LetechiaStauch’s attorneys have had video access to do conferencing, but it was restricted to just one hour and not used.

Now they’ve added additional time for video visits as well.

Attorneys were always allowed in for visits in person.
@EPCSheriff also goes on to say while they have had cases in their staff, there are no positive cases in inmates. They previously told me it was only a matter of time.

They are very proud of their safety set up, but understand if attorneys are not comfortable going in.
Sheriff’s office didn’t comment about the evidence delay, if there is one.

But they did flat out say her attorneys have had access (video, call, or in person) this whole time even if it was just for an hour (now additional time added.)

So that’s the fundamental disagreement.

Great job to Spencer for getting the info & clarifying! And in regards to LS getting released early...there isn't a snowball's chance in....

This happened recently in Denver & it's been ALL over the CO news. I think they're going to be thinking twice about early releases!

Suspect in Denver murder was paroled 3 weeks before killing due to coronavirus concerns at Colorado prisons

ETLink to Angel27 post

Gannon...
I wouldn’t expect them to be better, just tighter security, perhaps. Probably more cell or prisoner checks...Hopefully more isolation...

IMO, her life w/o parole has started, no special treatment. however, her attack on LE does allow a certain degree of wariness and extra care to be attached to her treatment.

combining w another post, I rather like the
plexiglass covid protection enclosure for her; reminds me of a reptile exhibit...

You know the inmate who committed suicide in the EPCJ a few days ago? I wonder if his cell was next to hers. Talked him to death.

Gannon...
My favorite post, thank you!

Pandemic precautions at jail explained

Even though the sheriff's office cannot speak specifically about the Stauch case, they did say video visitations are still an option for inmates in Special Management Wards, they just have to be scheduled after 8:30 p.m.

Thanks for sharing that, Cindizzi!

Well, I would guess that her motion would have to be denied since it is not even stating facts!! :D Not that I thought for a second it would be approved (sorry - I don't know the actual legal terminology).

Is a hearing still scheduled for June?

I think number 1 plays the largest part...
6. She drove the guards crazy because she can't shut her mouth and she was moved to psych ward for compassionate relief of guards.
7. She's planning escape and she thought (wrongly) that it would be easier from there.

Thanks for the laugh! :p

They just need to retrofit this one with a microphone for her testimony (if she dares take the stand) :D

She will be Good to Go!

Gannon...
Well, duh?!
But we must be cautious using that term, until after the trial, and she is locked away, for life...in most insanity cases isn’t there somewhat of a slim chance, w/ medication, counseling, etc, they could one day convince
some compassionate idiot to believe them safe to be released? IANL, but this happens in novels, for sure?!

If she can give interviews then she can talk to her attorneys. IMHO! From my understanding, based on the writing and phrasing and dates given in some of the articles, she has been granted an hour to talk to her attorneys but has chosen not to take advantage of that right for some time. Sure, there are *potential* security risks because of the high profile nature of this case but if she recently gave this interview then I honestly don’t see what this issue is. I’m glad she is receiving a proper defense so she does get a fair trial but I hope this is just a formality. This is all MOO!

URGENT- PLEASE HELP TO KEEP WEBSLEUTHS RUNNING ...
  1. Right now there are over one hundred members online and 445 guests . I know that @Tricia is too polite to keep asking but I’m bumping this post because WEBSLEUTHS is an amazing site and just its presence in my life at a difficult time, got me through! I was able to lose myself in WS . Like the 445 guests right now, I was a lurker , a watcher and see what happens for a long time before I took the courage to sign up. Guys and Gals - WE DO NOT WANT TO LOSE THIS SITE . Please, only if you are able, consider donating. Every $1 matters and if all 445 of you lurkers only ever gave this $1 right now, you are still having WS in your life for as long as you want it. Even if you can’t afford anything because of the extraordinary circumstances that the world finds itself in right now, that’s ok. But because of COVID 19, this beloved site is at critical because of lost revenue yet @Triciastill has to pay the bills . So please if you are able to afford anything at all, no matter how large or small , please consider donating. One member mentioned that the link to donate wasn’t the preferred method. If that’s the case then post on here for Tricia’s or a mods attention or message them . But either way, please , if you can , help WS to stay up and running. We are a community here , almost family like . I for one couldn’t not have WS in my life. Peace to all and stay safe.

No chance. She may be mentally ill, but legally sane. Best she can hope for is being moved from the psych ward back to the general prison. She's not going anywhere that isn't behind bars.
