I cannot watch, as I may not be able to stop crying today.
I'm sure glad they live streamed it though, for everyone who loved that little boy and was unable to be there.

Thank you for the link. It was a beautiful service. However, I had trouble hearing the grandmother; they needed someone there to adjust the microphone according to the speaker's height! AS's letter to Laina at various ages was absolutely heartwrenching. Yet, I know his words today will be there for her throughout her life. It was wonderful that AS was there for Gannon, but he didn't forget about Laina and what she is going through.

Hopefully the church will put it on their website to view because his grandmother spoke great about him, she had me in tears as they all did. She must of been a teacher because she spoke very well through her tears and heart ache. The service was very well organized imo.

I just have to ask although I know that the virus is hindrance in the process ... but what is taking so long for this to get under way... these types of cases should by all means be out on the front burner not on a first come first serve basis ... that needs to be changed every where . I am not sure how the law works just curious.

In my state we can’t seat a jury (one judge and county is experimenting with zoom for jury selection) and without that we can’t have criminal trials - I don’t know what CO has in place to work around this issue - we have some locals so perhaps they can chime in?

We've seen many cases here that sat on a back burner, some for years. Thank goodness member @Niner tracks a bunch, otherwise they would fall off the WS radar.

Sometimes it's due to the lack of a body, sometimes it's because the defense files a mountain of motions and sometimes it's because the DA is building a solid case before proceeding. It takes a lot of patience and can get frustrating.

I agree that the system could be better. For me personally I have to keep reminding myself that the extra time is better than an appeal down the road. At least in most cases the suspect remains in jail while the clock ticks.

Honestly I think the Defense is LASEY ....and don’t want to take the extra measures to do what they have to do

No info yet on jury trials here in El Paso County unfortunately.

This article (and many others) says those with jury summons after August 17th should monitor the court’s website for updates. As of today-the last day of the closure due to the outbreak-they haven’t shared any updates.
Jury trials postponed due to COVID case at El Paso County court

Here’s another article about the jury ban that was imposed with the closure. New jury trial ban imposed in El Paso County amid coronavirus threat, chief judge says

Or having a conviction overturned due to lack of adequate representation by the defense counsel.

The law should NOT let that happen that just is just purely crazy

I don't understand. You posted earlier that the defense team is being lazy. If they were, that would be grounds for ineffective counsel. I would prefer the defense team try their darnedest to give her the best defense possible. That is her constitutional right, just like it's my right and your right. We can't pick and choose who gets due process and who doesn't. If the prosecution has a strong enough case (which I'm sure they do) then a jury will find her guilty. We have to trust our legal system.

Looks like the Court has quashed the subpoenas requesting her records from Widefield School District, Academy School District, Horry County Schools and Fort Carson PPMD.

When I first saw the prosecution’s request for these, I thought Fort Carson was for medical records thinking perhaps she went to doctors on post. Just found out that PPMD stands for Police Provost Marshall Division.
Wonder what kind of records THOSE were?!

I'm not sure I've ever seen that before. From wikipedia: Provost marshal is a title given to a person in charge of a group of military police (MP). The title originated with an older term for military police, provosts. ... A provost marshal may also oversee security services, imprisonment, fire/emergency services and ambulances.
