Yes I agree, zero grounds for appeal!!
I still however don’t think she’s going to get along with any lawyer as they would inevitably let her know how inconceivable her stories are.

Since they’ll be brand new to the case, could it be pushed back even further? I’d think it would?

The court is still trying to recover from COVID delays so even with her former team the case was going to be set back to late August. Delay was inevitable.

I think LS alleged she received treatment in Canada because it's untrue and she'd use the international location as her reason for being unable to provide any evidence of her medical condition and/or treatment for the same.

Seriously, if you reside in the Carolina's and suffering from a mental breakdown or mental condition requiring hospitalization -- what reasonable person would travel to Canada for said treatment! MOO

Pretty funny actually. Canadians have a hard enough time accessing mental health care so how a non Canadian would manage that is a mystery to me.

Unless she had tons of money and went private maybe but if that’s the case she would be able to access treatment in the US.

Just another lie thrown out there to muddy the waters.

No idea what the reference to Canada meant or if it referred to anything real. But the letter seems to suggest the incident was in 2018. Doesn't that date mesh with their time in Alaska? A time that sounded kind of murky?

So far as I know, one can't drive from the "lower 48" to Alaska without entering Canada (although I think you can take a car ferry which they might have done if carrying guns.)

Here’s @4thJudicialDA saying here #LeteciaStauch WILL get new public defenders after all. Judge found a conflict between the current public defenders, so they’re gone for good.

We’ll meet them next week.


Appointment of new counsel will be next week, May 10th at 3 pm.

Prelim is set for August 5-6th at 9 am, but that was pushed back BECAUSE of her current public defenders.

That means we could see this get back on track sooner, but also the new guys are starting from scratch.

Also @4thJudicialDA mentioned he is not surprised by anything in this case anymore, and he’s not surprised by these delays.

The attorneys likely feel the same about her and are happy to be taken off the case.

She doesn't like them...she will have conflict with the next set of attorney's too. She's all about the conflict...she's a contrary you know what and doesn't need a reason at all.

Whatever the conflict was, apparently Judge Bain was convinced it wasn't only that LS didn't like her attorneys. As Judge Werner told LS, that's not a sufficient reason to appoint new counsel.

I agree LS is likely to have trouble with everyone. (And I suspect the judge knew that too. But he couldn't make his decision based on that suspicion if there was the appearance of a conflict. Nobody wants to have to try this case twice.)

We don't know what was said in the closed hearing. And we may as well be trying to read tea leaves as make sense of LS's letter to the judge. (About the only thing I know is true in that letter--- LS was right about her old attorneys dropping the ball on the issue of recording competency evals.)

So I don't know, but my tea-leaf reading suspicion based on the letter is that LS wants to explore a defense the attorneys aren't comfortable with. I'm not an attorney but I do know attorneys have professional responsibilities. If a client wants her attorney to scream "fire" to try to derail a state's witness's testimony, obviously that's not happening. But I believe ultimately the client retains control over certain aspects of the defense. For example, whether to testify, what plea to enter, and so forth. The fact that her attorneys are public defenders is immaterial in that regard.

A delay in the case is frustrating. But even if new attorneys hadn't been appointed, there would have been a delay due to her old attorneys having responsibilities to other clients. It would be extremely unfair to those other clients (as well as to other parties in those cases) to pull the attorneys from those cases simply so LS's case could proceed. Her rights don't trump theirs.

She was fairly upset that her attorneys "shared info" with her family causing conflicts. Bet that is why her daughter is testifying. Hopefully her immediate family has disowned her.

The woman isn't crazy, she isn't truly unbalanced. It's all for show, sympathy and show. JMO but I think she takes great delight in shocking people with her antics.

Well, her playing for shock value, or sympathy or for show has had its run for me. She has taken the life of a beautiful boy, that's serious stuff, heinous stuff and I'm done with finding a stupid smile on my face over some of her ridiculous antics.

I'm looking at this case and I'm ready to glower at her until this is over. Then, and only then I'll release the biggest smile ever followed by floods of tears all because we will have our Justice4Gannon. Sweet boy.
