Ok, I like this. Generally we don't get any audio or video, and it's live tweets at best.
But this is for jury selection only, right?

  • #502
Is it just me, or is that a really weird thing to say?
I mean, I haven't followed many legal proceedings but is it common for laptops to just fly off the table?

Well, we had an attorney fall off her seat at the table recently so I guess there's that...

Crap, you're right. Fingers crossed the judge bucks recent history and allows audio or video for trial.

Allen said opening statements could begin the afternoon of the second Monday of trial. That's April 4. Trial will be held Monday through Friday, starting at 9 a.m. Judge Werner's recommending attorneys use privacy screens on their laptops in court.

He also said that attorneys' electronics will be tethered to their tables for the trial. Cook asked him to clarify, and Judge Werner said the idea is to prevent laptops from "potentially falling off the table" or potentially "being used at the last minute."

Taking all sharp or blunt objects away...

Yes. I think it has more to do with the defendants possible behavior than anything else.

@Ontario Mom you asked if anyone had seem a laptop suddenly fall off a table in Court

This same Judge Werner had one hurled towards him in 2018.

Outburst as El Paso County death penalty trial begins

Just before the defense's opening statements, Galloway was escorted out of the courtroom for his erratic behavior. During a closed hearing, he threw a laptop across the room, narrowly missing the court reporter.

And of course, our own Rockstar @Cindizzi has the deets on the flying laptop in Judge Werner's courtroom! :D

During the trial, electronics will be BOLTED to the tables, for both sides.

I see defense attorney Will Cook look at Josh Tolini and say, "forever?" He asks the judge for clarification.

The idea is to prevent laptops from potentially falling off the table during the entire trial, but both sides are allowed to take them home at the end of the day.

Cook is relieved they won't be abandoning their laptops for weeks on end.

Lol. I just remembered seeing this story. I think I googled the Judge back when LS wrote him a letter. When I read about the laptop being thrown in his Courtroom, I thought yep he’s up to the task for this one!

LeteciaStauch trial will be Monday-Friday. 9:00 am each day.

Prosecution will need privacy screens on computers so the Jury cannot see anything on them.

Judge says "I know I'm going to get pushback on this, but" electronics will be tethered to the table.

I respect the judge for this decision. He is protecting his court room, his staff and others from a potential outburst from a historically emotionally unstable person. He isn't playin

Would not bet against anything wild happening when LS is around.

Glad this seems to finally be moving along....fingers crossed.

More on the Judge’s decision on denying the Motion re: ADT.

https://twitter.com/colettebordelon/status/1486805765612457985?s=21
"We use phones for a lot of things," says Judge Werner. He says that's the basis for, when you're going to search a phone, making sure privacy of a person is protected.

ADT security system does not have those same concerns, the Judge tells the room.

https://twitter.com/colettebordelon/status/1486806108945543170?s=21

"No one has indicated to me, or provided me with any information, that the ADT system actually involves information that the defendant put on it herself," the judge continues.

"The defendant herself is the one who indicated there may have been someone else in the house."

https://twitter.com/colettebordelon/status/1486806435597934597?s=21

The Judge says #LeteciaStauch is the one who indicated she may have activated the system as well. All of that information would be subject to the warrant.

He understands the concerns about the date range, but says the motion to suppress the ADT system is DENIED.

Extra strong (my words) tethering of laptops incase the demonic T makes an attempt.
The Judge has her number and taking no chances. I like him.

Final tweet from the Gazette court’s reporter today.
Do y’all think this would be AS’ truck? Young is for the Prosecution so probably. JMO

Young asked

Judge Werner granted a motion to release a vehicle, and we're now in recess. Says he'll see everyone back March 17.

Wow -- I can't believe this motion has been dormant all this time. If this is in-fact AS vehicle, I recall he said that it was financed and we discussed whether or not he kept up the monthly payments.

Maybe. I think though it's just as likely it's one of the leased cars (wasn't HH's car leased too in addition to LS's?)

One of the online fund-raisers for AS said he had to keep paying for the leased vehicles even though LE had them. (WS won't let me post a link but it can be found by googling. It's the one his uncle set up.)

And if he technically was the one who leased the cars, I'm not sure LS could have been forced to take on that debt-- a debt she had no way to pay while in jail-- when they divorced.

It would be great if we could get Barry’s trial moved to this judge. The defense did mention a change of venue, right?

Found this from April 30 2021. Final divorce hearing where she didn’t even show up. At 1:22 they mention how much he’s spent on leased vehicles.
