The court is allowing #LeteciaStauch to change her plea to not guilty by reason of insanity. Looks like both sides believe the trial date set for March 28th will be pushed back for an expert to evaluate Stauch. Likely won’t make a decision until March 17 about trial.

Judge now addressing #LeteciaStauch, who is in the courtroom. He is reminding her she will go through a mental evaluation and what it could include. She has the right to remain silent during the evaluation, which can be used to determine her sanity. @KOAA

ALSO #LeteciaStauch defense has filed a motion to proceed with a trial to the court and wave a jury. Stauch believes because of the pretrial publicity, the court can’t find a fair jury pool. Judge won’t make a ruling today.

Judge says he will not make a ruling on this today, but he will make a record of this.

He tells Stauch that if she were to waive a jury trial then he would make the sole decision about the outcome, rather than a jury of 12 people that must come to a unanimous decision.
