One thought I am unable to get out of my head about this Gannon Stauch case is that it is mighty strange, indeed, in this year of 2020 in the 21st Century, that any child over the age of about nine or 10 years old would willingly allow him or herself to become separated from her/his cell phone. Kids today cling to those devices as if they are attached to them for their very survival, like an oxygen tank, both for the logical reason of being able to communicate in phone mode but also to play games and text their friends seemingly inconsequential things (although often very important to their young minds).
The way children relate to their portable electronic devices makes me wonder how my age peers (“Baby Boomers”) and myself ever lived until we were adults without having a portable telephone on our bodies at almost all times. Granted, there were many more public pay telephones in the mid-20th Century than are in service today, but still.
And yet the reporting of the GS case has mentioned that his cell phone was not on his person when he disappeared, was left behind at home. So if GS was unable to bring his cell phone when he left his home, that means he was probably unable to locate it, thereby another red flag about “Stepmommy Dearest,” who either put him into a condition (before he left the family home) such that he was unable to think about a missing cell phone or else deliberately hid the phone from GS so he had no choice but to leave home without it.
Furthermore, I have been perplexed by the report that GS’ cell phone had been used, evidently after he disappeared, to inquire if persons could be tracked if their cell phones are turned off. Has it ever been established who used GS’ phone to make that inquiry? Was that inquiry perhaps posed by Albert Stauch, upon his return home from military duty, attempting to discover how he might locate his son. Or was it “Stepmommy Dearest” who perhaps asked that question, not wanting it to be found on her own phone?
And since I am mentioning this subject of the cell phone, I sincerely hope, if they haven’t already, that law enforcement (the FBI probably most equipped to do such) will confiscate the cell phones of SM and GS and turn them over to the most competent information technology (IT) specialists available, to see if anything may ascertained from either phone that might possibly assist in the case of GS’ disappearance.
The Gannon Stauch case motivated me to join Websleuths. But for all missing persons "Leave No Stone Nor Boulder Unturned," remembering every missing adult was also once somebody's child.
