That’s funny cuz first thing I thought of yesterday with 900+ mileage was what the hec? Did she drive to Texas? Sure it’s just coincidence tho and car was brought there by another renter from Texas at some point. Moo

However, with only 5 miles on the mileage out odometer reading, IMO* it's more likely the franchisee that owns the Budget location in Colorado is headquartered in Texas. The fleets are plated and then usually delivered to the rental location by transporter.

*should have added that my opinion is based on having worked for Budget Rent A Car for ten years, back in the 80s. All the Washington state locations were owned by a Seattle-based franchisee.

Apologies for going OT, but it was just something I noticed when I was looking at the rental agreement copy posted by kittythehare.

Am trying to figure out how it went down when she picked up her husband at airport, in a rented car, and then, what? Dropped him off, and left for a full day & night? Or what? Did that not seem weird to him? Did he go with her?

I've seen a photo on-line of an LE/MCL tech taking a photograph of a house front that is across the street from the Stauch house, possibly as an evidence piece to establish the location of a neighbor's surveillance camera from which LE may have obtained relevant video recording(s).

I know the angle of the photo the tech was taking because behind him in the background was an MCL van parked on the Stauch house side of the street, and on the other side of the street across from the van was the crashed-in-front vehicle parked along the curb (this vehicle can be seen in RD's surveillance video).

I've been trying to locate the photo of that scene but so far, no luck. I didn't realize the content of the photo when I saw it early today but then realized what is was after I recalled the crashed-in-front vehicle in the background. By that time I had already closed that browser tab and have not yet been able to find that website. Still looking....

Have you tried looking at your web history to find it?

Agreed. Her reason is BS and agreed there could be another driver.

Curious as to why you think she wouldn’t have time? I’ve been trying to piece together her movements and it seems to me that she wasn’t under much suspicion at this point because they thought G ran away. She volunteered she didn’t stay at her house because bio mom arrived. So to me, it seems like she might have said “I am going back to the hotel to crash” and then drove to Kansas and back instead.

I totally believe she had time! Others on here do not.

What is the Jody Arias mention? Not familiar. Are you saying she could’ve filled up a gas tank before she left and had it with her?

I was borderline obsessed with the Jodi Arias trial, and this is what I was thinking, too! @kkdj we're on the same wavelength here.

@DocStetson, she's referring to JA's attempt to create an alibi for when she murdered Travis. She said she wasn't in the area at all. She said she'd never even driven through the state he was in. She'd turned her phone off, had all her bases covered. Except those darn gas cans. She borrowed 2 gas cans and purchased one (for a total of 3 5-gallon containers, so 15 gallons total) and filled them at gas stations, paying in mixed ways (cash for the gas cans and debit card for her car, even stopping at different gas stations to fill so she didn't cause suspicion). Her massive mistake here was keeping the receipts for all that gas, which made them focus more on her odometer and how many miles she put on the car since her last oil change, I think?

She'd also removed the license plates from the car, colored her hair, etc. It screamed premeditation and alibi-building. Absolutely bulldozed her. They wouldn't have paid any attention to that odometer, I don't think, if they didn't find those receipts.

However, this isn't possible for TS, because she rented a car and if the mileage jumped out to us, it certainly jumped out to LE.

I was thinking at some point later that afternoon, when bio mom got into town, she opted not to stay in the same house with her husband and his ex. So she made a big deal about it and got a hotel room. But then instead of staying at the hotel all night, she could have got into her car and moved the body somewhere a little further away. 300-955 miles to be exact. If a person is trying to evade a murder charge, a 955 mile nighttime drive is well worth it to them I suspect.

Does the rented car look like her daughter's car?
I think the daughter has a white Jetta. I'm not sure what make or color the rental was. Was that revealed in the interview? I keep meaning to look for it but I can barely keep up.

MOO It's hard for me to believe a rental with 5 miles on it and stating 955 +- miles on it upon return is an error in mileage.

Now, if the entire thing is fudged in some way, then yeah, maybe so. But to misconstrue a brand new vehicle mileage is highly unlikely.

I think it’s odd though that the gas out states 8/8, but gas in just says “/8”. It should say 0/8... and that’s if it’s returned empty... orbit would say 1/8 if below quarter tank. I just think It’s weird. Maybe it’s not final yet, and was just a pre-invoice and she was getting the final after... (which we have not seen yet)...

The pic of the rental receipt doesn't say what year the Rio is, but IIRC, TS's daughter's car is a VW Jetta.
Don't quote me on that, I cannot recall where I read it.

Both are small, white cars. To someone who doesn't pay much attention to small white cars, yes, they would appear somewhat similar, imo.

Thank you kindly. Your posts the other day about the watch taught me a few things. And this Jodi Arias case is at the very least interesting since gas and odometers were the red flags that unraveled the story.

It already charged for the late drop off/extra day so I take this receipt as final.

If it's all one huge company, probably cars that are dropped off far from where they are rented are just adjusted on the books. And re-rented from the place they ended up at. Of course they still charge an arm and a leg to drop it off in a different place than it was rented.

Yes, a car dropped off to a city other than where it was rented will have a drop charge tacked on most of the time. Enterprise where I live will even charge a drop fee if you rent in Vancouver WA and drop the car off at the Portland airport, which is less than 20 miles away.

When I worked for Budget at SeaTac we hardly ever waived drop charges, unless it was weather-related. Think fog in Seattle & flights are grounded so someone drives the rental to Portland to get a flight home.

We very rarely had to get a dropped car transported home, unless we were really low on cars.

CrimeOnline viewed a Budget Rental receipt and confirmation number that indicated a white Kia Rio sedan was rented from the Colorado Springs airport at 8:50 a.m. on January 28, 2020, under Tecia Stauch’s name. The car was returned the following day at 1:20 p.m.

I think the 955 miles is a big distraction....one to get things off real issue of where Gannon is. I am sure LE dealt with rental car stuff already as it was impounded already. Releasing this info to us (LS) is a way to get us off track so she has time to come up with more ways to contradict what’s being said.

It was a white Kia iirc, 4 door.

I caught up and read 680 messages last night. I read every other page and go back if something jumps out at me. My question is this, after all of the stories we have heard, if T provided Crime Online with the rental receipt with details redacted, is it possible she could tamper with the mileage on the receipt, re-scan it, and keep us up all night? Who provided Crime Online with the receipt?

YES.^^^This. She might not have driven to Kansas. She might’ve driven an hour and a half further out into remote Colorado and driven around for a while to find the best spot. But this is at least a plausible timeline in my mind.
