It would be useful if everyone for a few blocks in every direction did what this man did and go back through any video they have. They might spot the red truck and you might be able to see how many passengers are in it and to/from which direction it was going.

That is a great suggestion, Curious. Tedious, yes -- but well worth the effort.

Jmo I think when a child may be in danger the requirements for search warrants are at least reduced...some sort of emergency situation? Does anyone know for sure? Still wondering if this house search WAS the first one...why. Also trying to research re: permission to search...do all residents have to give it or just the owner...is Gitana here?

Anyway still stuck on why house was not thoroughly search right away...or at least as soon as LE said he was not seen on video...jmo

Ahhhh, yes that makes sense. Thank you! I know I have had a hiking app on sometimes, and I'm guessing it probably catches something here and there once in a while to track. I have zip knowledge about that, so thank you!
Off topic but I listened to an interesting episode about phone pings and towers on a podcast called Mile Marker 181. It was an episode called "I'll explain when you get here". Basically they can sort of say you were this far from this tower, that far from those towers and guess at where in between those towers you were. It is not an exact point but a good start.

I read earlier on this thread (might have been thread #2 though) that Gannon Googled something along the lines of “can my parents find me if my phone is turned off?” before he disappeared.

Could it be possible that the SM took his phone and searched that instead to make it look like he ran away on his own?
or incognito/code /sneaky way to see CAN LE TRACK MY PHONE IF I TURN IT OFF.....

Poor dad and bio mom !
I am so sad for them right now. :(
Me too they were broken hearted in their earlier interview when they thought he was simply missing - now? I cannot imagine knowing she lied about Monday and the trip to the friends

But I think it said that the media, (ABC) has been making the attempts, and she has not responded to them. It doesn't say that she isn't cooperating with LE. Or did I miss it too?
well after her last interview talking about the big blue meanies I doubt she's cooperating.

Eta : LE meant for this information to be reported on.
They are amping up the pressure, it would seem.
They know what they're doing and have called this a "...piece to the larger puzzle".
Very revealing terms.
Something's afoot.

This is how this article would appear.
Surveillance video shows stepmom with Colorado boy before he went missing - ABC News
This is confirmed in msm and they wouldn't report it if not allowed by LE.
Regardless of Drayton's remarks.
The news station would leave it alone if not confirmed.

Of importance is why was Gannon walking slowly ?
Was he in pain ? :(
There is a story unfolding and it's heartbreaking.

Every case seems to have the LE is operating covertly and drawing the perp out thing. But I do agree that LE knows what it’s doing.

While everyone is focusing on the car and Gannon getting in/out of it. I noticed in the press conference that the detective was pretty specific that something lead them to targeted, specific searches. I'm speculating that happened prior to the video being released as they moved their operations.

So what potentially led them to move? I think that may be a bigger clue of what's going on than the video is. Is someone talking? Is that why they aren't overly concerned with the video being leaked?

I really hope they hadn't already made a deal

There was someone in this thread who said they were stopped by a young child on Colfax asking for money to get water. He said the kid looked dehydrated and young. He also asked the kid how old he was and the kid said 15. I mean what if she drove from colorado Springs to denver and just left him there sick hoping he would just succumb to his illness.

I am from a whole different state so forgive me , would that fit the 4hr time line?

Even if she drove through areas without cell coverage, a picture would still emerge.

It wouldn’t be as specific as if she had continuous communication with cell towers, but it would give them a general idea (she went out of service here, and came back into service here).
Thanks!!

I noticed she said even going back to a week before he disappeared.

The testimony from le in that case in California where the 4 member McStay family was murdered was a great tutorial on phone pings, triangulation and all the rest. I learned a lot. And they convicted the guy based largely on that evidence. Plus the financial stuff.

Doubtful bc protection is for the accused. As for consent, good for consent to all but I think limited to what visible. Can’t invade non consenting party’s privacy. That’s a criminal law person question.

Good point. ^^^

I noticed in the first presser and today LE were asked both times if step mom was cooperating... the said "no comment".
So who knows ?
I'd assume if she was we'd know where Gannon is , dead or alive.
If she has lawyered up she probably would be advised to say nothing though....

When the investigation started they may not have had enough evidence to obtain a search warrant.

After, all, he was reported as a runaway and at the start they conducted the investigation as if he was a runaway.

I'm thinking this was intentional in order to throw them off or hinder the investigation.

Imo

I'm curious about the command center moving to their facility. Is this done so they are away from news and family? Or so they can examine evidence? I don't Know if I've ever seen them moving their investigative command center back to their offices, have you all?

My mind goes to dark places.

Walking slowly... drugged? Benadryl....

Two hour drive to the middle of nowhere.... leave child practically unconscious somewhere he'd never find his way back from? Could it be something so horrendous?

Run a couple errands, home by 2....

Hubby will be so sad, she'll be there to console. Marriage saved....

How bad is this case going to get?

I can't shake this feeling.

FWIW, I don’t believe LE is baiting or trying to pressure SM. They’re focused on what that video told them and what was in the house, along with a long list of things we know nothing about. They’ve already said the social media explosion is only impeding things, and since they’ve probably had her figured out from close to Day 1, I can’t imagine they would make more of a cluster of the situation by leaking this. All it would/will do is cause countless calls by people who suddenly remember seeing a woman and a boy at the gas station, etc. etc.

If they wanted to generate info, they’d say “We need to talk to anyone who saw a red truck in this vicinity, on this date, between the hours of whatever.

After listening to all the things that LE did in the Susan Cox Powell case, I would believe that they could use this tactic. However, they were pretty angry in the presser, so I'm backing off that theory now.

LE does NOT want that info out there.

We want information. They want conviction.

How frustrating for LE to be thwarted by social media. One outlet abides while another scoops it.

I hope nothing here on WS jeopardizes justice.

JMO

I hope so too. I'm really shocked that the new agency went against LE. You think you'd want to maintain that relationship as a news outlet.

Yup, for Miralax ...she is an idiot, would have done better with a written statement even with her lies.

I buy Miralax at Walmart.

Some people have RXs covered - so there may be advantages to getting an RX. I still think it's total hogwash, though.
