"On Monday, Roderrick Drayton, a neighbor of Stauch’s, shared surveillance video from his home that captured footage of what he says shows Stauch and his stepmother, Leticia Stauch, getting into a red truck in the driveway of their Colorado Springs home on Monday, Jan. 27 – the day the boy went missing. The video later, Drayton said, shows the truck returning hours later but with only the stepmother appearing to get out... ABC News reported Tuesday that a spokesperson for the sheriff’s office did not dispute Drayton’s account of what the video showed but said it was just a piece in the investigation." Neighbor says surveillance video shows missing Springs boy

So, the investigators have seen (and heard) this video, and they do not dispute what Mr. Drayton says is on it. That's confirmation enough for me, that it is in fact Gannon and TS.
I think we can all agree that if both the neighbor and Gannon’s dad have said it’s TS and Gannon, then it is. All the Sheriff’s office said and keeps repeating is that they won’t comment/confirm/deny any investigation info or evidence. That’s always what LE says.

Why are people questioning her shirt though? Are people suggesting the hole in her shirt has something to do with what happened to him? I mean...I have a ton of long sleeved shirts like this. So does my daughter. It’s a perfectly normal thing

Then you, too, are all set to hide any injuries on your hands if need be. Very handy, right? I can't imagine having a ton of these shirts, btw. Nor am I a skater (the only people who wear those shirts in California are skaters or posers). I do get that the might keep one's wrists warmer while leaving fingers free to use a cell phone. Does it get pretty cold where you live? I imagine they are more popular in Colorado than in California.

At any rate, I'm sure LE has asked Dad whether LS's wearing of that shirt is typical for her and how often she wears said shirt and how many similar shirts she might have. She's not talking directly to LE, but there are a bunch of questions that Dad can answer. I bet each one of those questions is excruciating for him.

Oh! Can you cite to where LE stated that what was seen on the neighbor’s video led to renewed crime scene work at the house? I didn’t see that.

What we don’t know either way is that the FBI etc. missed the footage until it was pointed out to them. We don’t know that. The neighbor appears to believe so. But he isn’t aware of what the investigators were doing.

Maybe they missed it. But maybe they also saw it and began to develop a new strategy. Maybe the withholding of the video while mentioning it and the subsequent “unauthorized” release was strategic and meant to exert pressure on someone.

When we’re talking about timing this is a short span of time since Gannon went missing. It would be more telling if it had been months, the neighbor spoke up and then immediately there was a CSI search.

I for one don’t think the FBI and local LE are keystone cops that were neglectful one their duties. Local LE pretty quickly got experts out to help, like the FBI and NCMEC.
The first I heard about the existence of a video was when the neighbor was interviewed for the first time. The video was not shown, but the neighbor said he couldn’t sleep so he got up in the middle of the night and began watching video from before Monday. He says that when he saw what he saw, he notified the father later that morning. The father cried and said it was significant. LE was notified.
LE asked media to withhold the video.
It should also be noted that this same neighbor’s video would likely be studied to determine what went on on Sunday after they returned from the alleged hike. Who went? What time did they get home? Did anyone go out later? Etc.
SM was very specific about Sunday because those activities can be corroborated. Monday she’s not sure of times, she didn’t see him when he left, but she likely told LE she saw him in the house around 3:15 so they would be looking outside after that.

I guess I can understand that, but IMO it doesn't matter. She's wearing a shirt that covers her palm, no one seems to dispute that there's a bandage there, and palm injuries are not a common thing, so it's suspicious that she has one right around the time she drove off to who knows where with her stepson.

I just don't see the value in debating whether she cut the hole herself or a manufacturer did. She could also have easily just kept her hands inside her sleeves like many people do when it's cold.

No offense intended to anyone here... I just don't think it's a major key in the mystery. MOO.
None taken. Agreed. MOO

Has it ever been noted when dad was due home?

My thoughts have changed a bit since my last post. A lot has come to light.

I think something made her very mad a Gannon. So mad she beat him. Hurt him enough to have to seek medical advice via the phone. Tries to pass it off as an illness. Soon she realizes that this will never be believed as an illness even IF poor Gannon does not tell in her. Maybe he even tried to text his dad or bio mom. Who knows? But SM knows she went to far THIS time. Rather than be found to be the child a user she has been and is, she chooses to silence Gannon forever. This is all my story and moo!!

Ps this post may violate TOS as she is not a POI but I had to get it off my chest. Sorry.

I'm catching up but wanted to mention some observations about the video after watching and pausing and lightening and obsessing over it lastnight.

IMO I'm certain that the neighbor and LE have now watched all of the day before and day of (and probably the day after) Gannon's disappearance. ABC World news showed a few stills of Gannon and his sister playing in the yard on Sunday (see attached image) so there is footage from Sunday as well.

The quality of the camera footage is actually far better than what news media outlets are showing. I saw a shot that the neighbor had up on his TV in High Def on one of the news casts (I can't find it now) but it was very clear. I believe they could see exactly what was going on and who was / wasn't there. I also think they could see what SM was carrying in and out. As well as when the older daughter came and went.
They also had the advantage of sound.

The camera that Fox31 showed attached to the house lastnight is the type that moves toward motion or sound. So it's not permanently angled toward the Stauch home. It simply moved that direction when there was movement. Mine does the same thing and it was under $100.

All that to say that if Gannon had returned to that house at all after 10:13am on Monday I'm near certain that they would know. With LE saying they aren't disputing the neighbors claims that he has "the last sighting of Gannon" I'm comfortable assuming that after 10:13a he isn't seen at or walking away from the front of that house at all. That's not to say he couldn't have left out of the back of the house (my kids do, often and cut through yards to friends houses)

However, I also believe the neighbors claims that Gannon appeared "sluggish" as if "he might have been drugged".
MOO I don't see SM bending over to pick up something that dropped. I see her helping Gannon into the truck. Unless he was injured or under the influence of something she wouldn't have had to help him at his age. I find that part very "off" and evidence that something was wrong with Gannon.
The picture in your post, is that a still 🤬🤬🤬🤬 of Gannon and the little sister playing? The neighbor did say he say Gannon and his sister out playing that day. Just curious.

I don't think LE or FBI was in possession of any videos from RD prior to Sunday.

From the interviews I saw with RD he did as LE had asked and viewed the time frame on Monday afternoon to see if he saw Gannon walking anywhere. He did not. So he didn't report anything because he thought he had nothing.

It's not like LE goes and collects all the cam footage in a neighborhood ; they ask citizens to review and turn in anything that might be relevant. I also don't see anywhere in any of the dozens of interviews I've seen with RD that he implies that LE missed something.

RD clearly said in multiple interviews that it was bothering him when he was up late and he couldn't make things out well on his iPad so he put it up on the TV and looked at a larger time frame. The result was he saw what he did. He went to AS the next morning (Sunday) and they notified LE.

Same. If you live in an area with any sort of crime - car thefts, package theft, vandalism, etc, the cameras can definitely offer peace of mind. I'd say 50% of the homes on my block have them. They seem to act as a deterrent more than anything. We've caught people "casing" late at night, walking and looking at each door for a bit to see if there's a camera. People who steal/etc aren't looking to get their faces caught on camera. More for home defense than for snooping.
Even in my area which isn’t really high crime...we have a lot of retirees who like watching other people’s business . Now that it’s growing though we have more car break-ins. People also use it to see whose dogs are pooping on their lawns . We got a Ring because my husband frequently goes out of town and I got a doorbell ditch at 1am that scared the crap out of me.

Just want to add. LS said in her infamous interview that she was shopping because she didn’t have any clothes because she couldn’t go into the house once bm showed up.
1- this shows that she wasn’t staying away just for BM’s convenience, she couldn’t even take her personal belongings with her.
2-the sweatshirt was recently purchased and perhaps the intent was to hide this injury.

Good point!

The Keystone Kops are in Boulder, not Colorado Springs.

So we do have that to be thankful for, at least.

Does anyone know the father's full name? I am finding the stepmom's name easily, and the mother's name, but not the father's first name. TIA.

  • #756
Forgive me asking if this has been addressed and I missed it, but did the stepmom give any reasoning in her story for allowing a child to go to a friend’s house when he had stayed home sick from school that day?

I wouldn’t be surprised if they got pings from her phone and are doing searches based on that. She had the youngest in school that day, no mom is going to go 4 hrs with no phone while their kid is in school. I’m just hoping that she is also horrible at directions and had to use google maps or gps. Hopefully, eventually they will have physical access to her phone and be able to obtain map info.

I REALLY think they won’t get phone pings because I REALLY think she left her phone behind. I just have a feeling.
I first thought that hopefully she had her phone because her youngest was in school that day, and you never know when the school might need to get ahold of a parent. But I wonder if she had her oldest daughter as a point of contact also. Given that GS dad is National Guard/AGR I wonder if they have it set up to where if the mom doesn't answer they call the oldest next. Would make sense to me given the dad can be in training at any time. If that's the case I don't think she would have taken her phone with her.
MOO

All I’ve heard of is one camera facing his driveway where I’m sure his car is. Probably has one at his door as well. That’s reasonable. Probably about $1,200 for that.
ITA. They showed the actual camera it came from on the very first broadcast announcing (it was the one he was sitting on the couch. Ill insert the link in a min) they had footage. It's not in a weird place at all. It's on the far right of his garage, above the garage door, the the space between the top of the door and the eve of the roof. Not in a weird spot at all. I think people don't realize how close together these houses are. It would nearly be impossible to set up a camera in that neighborhood and NOT get a piece of your neighbors property.

Tecia Stauch explained that on Sunday, she took Gannon and his younger sister hiking at the Garden of the Gods Park. Afterward, they stopped by to eat at Burger King, she said. Gannon reportedly did not attend school the following day.
...
Reportedly, Tecia did not know which friend’s house the boy went to on Monday, according to Al Stauch, who said his wife told him that Gannon didn’t specify which friend he wanted to visit, NBC 5 reports. The stepmother said she couldn’t comment on the details of the case at this time.

I just want to add that as a parent, when my kid didn't go to school they also didn't go somewhere to play later that day. And also, not knowing where an 11 yo child is playing is just bad parenting. I haven't heard of any friends' parents coming forward to indicate they saw Gannon that afternoon. What was the excuse why he wasn't in school that day? usually a parent needs to call the school to state why the child would not be in attendance. Just my thoughts on this situation. I believe we know how this is going to turn out. :(
