Let's backtrack a second.

Thinking about the HB case and her baby. Most of us were certain on the whodunit abd were completely wrong.

Is there a theory under which her story COULD check out?

Not likely, not defending, just asking...

He's home sick, she has errands to run, sge takes him along.... she leaves him somewhere TO walk home.... expecting he WILL. To learn some lesson. When he doesn't get home, she might realize she can't tell people she ditched him....

A mile from home quickly becomes two miles, after a mile in the wrong direction.

I know everything points to her guilt (her demeanor topping the list), I just want to make sure I'm looking at this without prejudice.

Is there ANYTHING to support her story?

No, because if he was sick, she's a psychopath for leaving him. If she was merely angry, she's insane for leaving her direct witness who's a minor, wandering around in public during school hours, and will tell his story when a normal person sees him, or, he will go to someone asking for help..

Seriously! A child that codes is an incredibly smart child. And if he was the one that googled it, it'd be worded differently.... Like "tracking cellphones" not an elaborate sentence like "can my parents track my phone etc., Etc. "
Yes. That phrasing is only necessary if you are trying to mislead authorities.

I like to picture SM making that search, and being proud of it. Of course when most of us heard about that, we laughed at its transparency.

Nice job to the vigilant neighbor who reviewed his security camera footage.

IMO, the stepmom was very indignant in the interview she gave.

IMO, I do not see a good outcome for this little guy. When details emerge it's going to be horrid.

There are many instances where you think you might be deleting a search on a phone or computer, but they are not really deleted.

As far as I can see, the only objective problem with her story we are aware of is that she appears to have left home with the child and returned without him. This implies that her story of him having left home for a friend's home in the afternoon could not have happened because he wasn't ever home after leaving with the stepmom in the truck in the morning. If there is a plausible explanation for this apparent discrepancy in her story, I would say her story could still check out. At the same time, it's certainly possible there are other objective issues with her story we aren't aware of.

There’s a lot of pseudo code type of programs for kids to learn how to code that aren’t coding coding in the way I think you are thinking. For instance, coding with Scratch teaches good coding skills but is block based, so it’s sort of like coding in LEGO form. It’s still great fun for kids, but it’s not the type of coding where he would know how to cover his tracks, IMO.

I hit post by accident before typing. Live update. No real new info released. Updates on equipment used, etc. The spokesperson did say they were at this location 2 days ago and were thorough, but now they have additional equipment.

My takeaway: they have a compelling reason to be back at this location. MOO of course. GPS info? MOO

Without the camera, this would have been a perfect spot to line up with the story...
True. Except the cause / manor of death would seem to likely be a problem

I wonder if LE had cadaver dogs in the red pickup truck?

Why these search two areas?

1) They have been told GS was placed in the area. IMO, unlikely.

2) Truck GPS has stepmom driving these areas, which are off any through route. Most likely?

3) They have stepmom and GS leaving house in the morning, and stepmom only on video at another place farther away- and without GS. LE may believe these in-between search areas are the most likely spots to find GS.

Four horse-mounted El Paso County Sheriff’s deputies, two dog teams, and 52 volunteers and law enforcement officers also are searching for Gannon on Thursday, said Jackie Kirby, sheriff’s office spokeswoman.

The Colorado Springs Fire Department’s dive team is looking in undisclosed bodies of water near Lorson Ranch, Kirby said. She declined to say which ponds, lakes or streams are being searched, but Big Johnson Reservoir is in the area.

The searches near Lorson Ranch have been in response to recommendations from the public and as a result of detectives following leads, Kirby said.

She didn’t offer any further context about the tips or why the water searches were necessary.

El Paso sheriff’s Sgt. Deborah Mynatt said heavy equipment has been brought to the water search areas to break through the ice after an extreme cold spell froze the ice.

“The weather will not deter us from the search,” Mynatt said during a televised news conference.

This.
The Google search was like saying, "Alibi can be found here! Also, I needed to know whether I could take my phone if it was turned off, or should I leave it here at home."
Would love to know what other bumbles she made that we can't see, but LE early into this did.

Sounds like they really have no idea where he is.
Maybe they do know but aren’t ready to release that info yet. Perhaps they have reason to believe there is some type of evidence out there to retrieve first? And then announce it all a once. hopefully along with an arrest. Just guessing that if they thought GS was in this area, they would have more boots on the ground. It’s supposed to snow after sundown, maybe not much but 50% chance. The 1:00 pm press briefing said they have 52 volunteers out searching, but they have over 500 potential volunteer searchers who have applied and been vetted. JMO
I could be way off thinking like this, need more sleep.

Happening Now: Search & Rescue crews near Colorado Springs utilize K9s in ground search for #GannonStauch. @EPCSheriff says volunteers are also searching Big Johnson Reservoir and will use equipment to break up ice. @KDVR

Many reasons to search these areas. Soil samples on truck, in house, etc. Match soil composition of areas where they are searching. They have expertise and technology in this area that are truly amazing.

Anyone else get the feeling Sergeant Mynatt is a freaking bada**? I can feel her annoyance with social media and the unnecessary tips coming in, but at the same time her compassion and how badly she wants to find Gannon. I really, really like her.
Yes! She knows her numbers/stats, has a businesslike approach, yet has a personable quality that really shines through on camera. I wouldn’t want her coming after me...just saying.

I wouldn't be surprised if the step mother is reading this thread. So many other cases had visitors associated with a case visit WS ... JMO

I think it comes down to they can't find his body, and don't want to say anything at all about what they know, so we're left with "missing child/endangered". With the social media nonsense they're dealing with, can you imagine if they said it's now a homicide investigation?
Plus, I believe current Colorado law on felony murder rules doesn't include child abuse, neglect or endangerment so there's little point in arresting anyone <cough> for lesser charges.

At best LE may have a case for obstruction but even then I doubt it would do any good - most likely LS would lawyer up immediately. So IMO LE needs either a body or strong evidence of foul play to move the case forward. And since there's no statute of limitations on murder they might as well take the time to be thorough and I believe they are conducting a very thorough investigation.

In the meantime it's frustrating but all we can do is trust LE to do their job. Or hope LS talks. Or hope anyone who has firsthand knowledge of a crime talks. MOO.
