ADMIN NOTE:

Political posts have been removed.

New members need to know that political discussion is not allowed at Websleuths. More long term members should know this and should NOT be responding to such posts. It makes thread cleanup much more difficult when we have to read through 20 pages to see who responded and who responded to those responses, etc, etc.

Please refrain from off topic posts. Not only do they detract from the thread, they also make it much more difficult for cleanup.

Members have kicked the heck out of the air bag discussion. Please do not continue to discuss it as it does not appear to have any bearing whatsoever on Gannon's disappearance.

Don't tell other members what to do. If you feel some of the discussion is off limits or inappropriate in some way, Report your concerns and let Mods review it and deal with it.

Regardless of what the neighbour said (and I also remember something similar btw), the interesting point for me was - why did she back the truck up? How hard is it for an 11 year old to walk out to the kerb? I could understand it if you were loading something heavy, or even the dogs, for their safety - but otherwise, it makes zero sense. Unless ofc you did not want anyone to see how little Gannon was walking/was injured. Or he was unable to walk that short distance. So I think this fact gives credibilty to him walking in some way unusually.

I've thought (maybe even said it?) the exact same. People who have something to hide, hide. Something was wrong with him that morning and she backed that truck into the driveway so that no one would see him. Or, so she thought.

I certainly hope they bill the guilty and the complicit if and when Gannon is found. Like they do irresponsible hikers who consume Search and Rescue resources. Either take assets or put it to work making license plates. :D

A 40 mile radius is roughly 5000 square miles!

So, they're searching an area slightly larger than all of Connecticut (4845 square miles) or, for us Westerners, larger than all of Los Angeles County (not the city - the entire county, which is 4750 square miles).

A typical missing persons case searches 2-6 square miles on a grid search. The official search for Barbara Thomas covered about 4 square miles.

... We need an overlay of the area to know what has been searched and what has not ...

So far authorities are being tight lipped about the specific searches. This is a tweet from a reporter for Fox21 from yesterday.

"Tonight I spoke with the El Paso County Sheriff's Office who confirmed teams were out searching today but would not specify which area. They said the search has not extended outside of El Paso County."

This was my observation as well.

It appeared to be clear and dry day. Not bitterly cold, not raining.

The truck is parked in the street. This is not a long driveway. The homes are close to the street. IMO, a short distance to walk. But she backs the truck in the driveway making it a short walk for Gannon, he doesn't even have to go around the truck to get in. Was this standard, part of the routine or unusual?

Also, was it normal for Gannon to kind of dilly dally around, not move with a purpose when it was time to leave? Right now, my opinion is something was wrong with him that morning when they left the house. What that "wrong" is/was? Not sure. The video is not really clear but it even appears to me he doesn't even close the door. He just sits there. IMO.

Do his pants have a white stripe down the side?

There was a drone used early on. It covered 50 miles surrounding Gannon's Lorson Ranch neighborhood. Not sure about the Civil Air Patrol.

I remember in one of the updates from the sheriff's they said they also used the Flight for Life helicopter in the initial search

Thanks! That gives me a bit more hope that the hit was accurate, but concern about no scent "trail", only a hit.
LE has not confirmed that any dog has hit on Gannon's scent. It was stated that there were search dogs and a reporter asked about the dog's training, were the dogs given Gannon's scent, Not that the dogs hit on his scent. This is very important information to get correct....
ETA: Can not locate video, so MOO

Yes, I think I read somewhere they are searching undisclosed locations.
Mentioned before(perhaps deleted). She would need to rely on known spots or do some research. I wondered if she borrowed someone’s phone to look at google maps. Her own would be risky

Towards the end of this news video they show the scent dogs.
Search For Gannon Stauch: Sonar Device, Dogs, National Guard Members All Involved – CBS Denver

Also in this Twitter video clip, there’s a dog in the distance with the searchers.

We're let in on an interesting tidbit at the tail end of the news video... that the second investigation (other than the physical searching) is underway by a behind-closed-doors group that is attempting to determine if there was "foul play".

Isn't the content of the neighbor's video contradicting what TS initially reported enough for the group to make a decision at this point?

If the truck was left parked by the curb both the driver's and left rear passenger's doors would open in to traffic. As was seen in the video, a vehicle drove by. I perceive backing up the truck in to the driveway the same as many perceive placing a child on rear seating... a safety measure.

The only problem with that, is it came from a reporters mouth, not a statement from LE. MOO

Been following this case and have been wondering, what is the extent le has gone through questioning the step mom? She was obviously the last one to see him, especially with him getting in her pickup and him not returning with her. I'm just so frustrated with the "laws" and the le not wanting to do anything until they have more proof...what more do they need?

Well, this "behind closed doors group trying to eliminate foul play" is clearly a sneaky way of saying "the Grand Jury", no?

I mean, it would dovetail nicely with the prior searching presence of Dan May, no?
