Exclusive: Gannon Stauch’s stepmother releases statement about boy’s disappearance

Every word of her statement is intended to explain away some type of evidence, either forensic, eyewitness, electronic/video, etc.

It should be viewed through that lens.

What she wrote here in her self-defense reveals exactly what and where she's afraid LE has or will find evidence.

There is blood evidence in this case.

To be specific, GS's blood.

That much is clear from her description of GS having "cut his foot."

So, let me see if I got the timeline straight - please correct any mistakes I make:

Saturday
Gannon cuts foot in garage and he is bleeding.
SM bandages foot in the garage.
Gannon repeatedly checks gate and is proud he has the ONLY key to gate.

Sunday
Family goes hiking, despite a wound on Gannon's foot.
Family has Burger King.
SM says step-sister can vouch that Gannon at home Sunday night.

Monday
Gannon too sick (or hurt?) to go to school.
SM and Gannon leave home.
SM is seen returning and says Gannon did too (but he is not seen on video).
SM works out in basement.
Gannon leaves house to visit friend after not attending school. Departs on foot through gate rather than another door. Leaves phone at home.
Mystery man takes Gannon.
Gannon is reported missing.

Later
Gannon will return and everyone will apologize to SM.

There were people on there giving her specific advice, on how to post and speak, to get more public support ....She may have actually paid attention...

I've got a couple of those too. Married to one too.

But, I still don't believe her story.

For all you parents out there, if your kid got cut and bled in the garage, would you bandage him up in the garage? Or would you bring him into the bathroom to clean the wound, have access to bandages, etc. Wouldn't you take him somewhere cleaner than the garage?

Sounds like she bandaged him up in the garage, which just doesn't ring true. I've bandaged plenty of injuries as a mom - and if a wound is bleeding, the kid is getting washed under running water.

Honestly Id try to get something to stem the bleeding until we made it into the house. Then I would clean and bandage properly.

Right, and now we have a pretty good idea why LE handcuffed her daughter and had a warrant to search the car.

They found blood on the car and this was her explanation for it.

I wonder what kind of woodworking tool Gannon cut his foot on? Was there a bloody hammer or jigsaw laying around in the garage?

If you don't know what happened, it's hard to create a solid storyline. If you DO know what happened, it's easy to make a false narrative.

Her own spun tale reveals more than she realizes.

We now know he was bleeding. It's going to break our hearts when we find out why.... and I think it'll explain why she couldn't take him to a doctor (11 years old can talk, 11 years olds not raised by you since birth aren't as likely to be controlled and coached into saying what you say they can say) and why, in her mind, she had to get him gone.

I'm more convinced than ever that she got rid of him to save herself.

That poor boy.

Sure some people are careless with their tools and leave them laying around. Kids are sometimes curious and touch things they should not. However, folks I know with woodcutting tools keep them stored properly. One, they are sharp but they are also expensive. Doing craft work like that, in most cases, means you care about those tools.

That was likely the only explanation she could come up for LE as to why Gannon was not captured on camera leaving the house or walking to the friend's house.

Now I am getting an idea why this case is so complicated for LE. TS had an explanation for everything. They have to follow up on everything that she told them in the search for Gannon while running a parallel investigation along side it to find out what really happened. Jmo

After reading the above - all I can say right now is:
Now what? I’ve had a similar theory going on in my mind. Granted it’s a long shot. It is a possibility though not a probability. This is a theory that has given me hope throughout. I’ve tried to back up my theory with substance before she said anything about a key. It is now strengthened a smidgen by her statement.

I'm so curious! I don't have a theory per say but a very remote possibility lurking in the back of my mind, likely just because I want to air on the side of hope with this little guy. I understand if you prefer not to say, just wondering if we're thinking something similar.
