Gannon's father is a member of the National Guard, and the Guard is assisting with search efforts.

Due to his age and expected weather, the Major Crimes Unit is assisting in the search because they have more tools at their disposal.

The department is unaware of additional risk factors aside from age, she said.

"That's really our only concern, that he's so young," Mynatt said. "It's cold outside, it's going to start getting late here soon. We want to find him, get him home and put him in a safe environment."

Stauch did not report to school today, she added.

Deputies are actively searching for the boy in between calls for service, and the case has been forwarded to major crimes detectives. Such a move is made when additional investigative tools, such as the ability to obtain deleted information off a phone, are needed, she said.

Staff Sgt. Zach Sheely, a spokesman for the Colorado Springs-based Colorado Army National Guard 100th Missile Defense Brigade, confirmed to The Gazette that Stauch's father is a member of his unit but could not provide further information.

"Here at the brigade we're taking this extremely seriously and we're doing everything we can to help the family," Sheely said. "We definitely want to encourage anyone with any information to call that phone number and just cooperate with law enforcement."

Gannon left his home yesterday Jan 27th at around 3-4pm to visit a friend a few streets away but apparently must have not made it to the friend's house. So I'm wondering why they are calling this a runaway situation, especially with him being so young? Perhaps he has ran away before? No mention that Gannon had a cell phone. I hope he just decided to go to a different friend's house and is hiding out there or something and is found soon.

After what happened to Harley Dilly, why would any LE assume a child of that age has run away? JMO, it seems unlikely given the child's age and the weather conditions this time of year. Where is a child that age going to go in the middle of the winter in Colorado?

I hope they begin treating this as a missing child/possible abduction. I hope local LE is canvassing the neighborhoods, asking questions, reviewing security cam video and checking on the usual suspects.

They’re calling him a runaway because allegedly the last search on his phone was “can my parents track me if my phone is off.” His phone was left at the house.

The family says people have been searching since Monday and have already covered a lot of ground looking all over Lorson Ranch, Fountain, and beyond for Gannon. Flyers have been handed out and posted in a community-wide effort to bring the boy home.

Al Stauch, Gannon's dad, said, "He's not really the type just to walk off."

Search parties formed on Monday night and drones were even brought out to try and find the young boy.

John Wilson took his drone out on Tuesday. He said, "I have the ability and the skills, and the know how to do so. I know the family. The father is military. I spent 12 years in the military so that's a family I know wouldn't let me down, so just doing the same thing."
.......

A little after 10 p.m. on Tuesday the El Paso County Sheriff's Office showed up at Gannon's home. Law enforcement walked up to the home and appeared to be searching in the backyard with flashlights. The garage door was opened and a car was pulled out. We are waiting for an update from the sheriff's office on why law enforcement was there.

Can you help us find this runaway:
Gannon Stauch. Last seen 01/27/2020 in his home between 3:15pm-4pm in Lorson Ranch.

Our Patrol deputies and Major Crime Detectives have taken extraordinary steps to search for Gannon. He’s very young, it’s dark and cold outside and we want to bring Gannon to safety.

Please call 719-390-5555 if you have seen him or know of his whereabouts or dial 911 if appropriate.

"Deputies told 11 News that Gannon Stauch was last seen Monday night at the 🤬🤬🤬 & Go convenience store at Mesa Ridge Parkway. He was wearing a blue jacket and jeans and left his home on foot. However, the sheriff's office later learned the sighting was incorrect. The mom reviewed surveillance footage and confirmed that was not her son.

The last known sighting of Stauch was Monday afternoon between 3 and 4 p.m. in the Lorson Ranch neighborhood at his home. He lives along Mandan Drive east of Colorado Springs near Fontaine Boulevard and Marksheffel. He was reportedly going to visit his friend a few streets away."

BBM. So apparently there are no confirmed sightings of Gannon after his family allegedly last saw him leaving his home to go to a friend's house on Mon 1/27 between 3-4pm. Gannon had not gone to school on Monday, he had stayed home sick. It is unclear when the last time anyone besides family saw Gannon before he went missing, though I believe he did attend school on Friday 1/24. Hoping for more updates some time soon.

"Told my wife he was going to play and then...haven't seen him since," Gannon's father said.

He said Gannon took off for a friend's house on Monday at about 3:30 p.m. Within a few hours, he said his wife knew something was wrong when Gannon didn't come home.

"We kind of do the street light rule - when the street lights come on or it gets dark, they better be home and it was like maybe 30 minutes past that...started to worry at that point. Then I started texting all the friends that we know he goes to and nobody had seen him," Stauch said.

He said Gannon didn't let them know what friend's house he was going to in the neighborhood and that this was "unlike him so that's why we're obviously really concerned."

Eventually, the police were called.

"Once we went through that whole checklist it's like, you know, where could he be?" Stauch said.

"Told my wife he was going to play and then...haven't seen him since," Gannon's father said.

RSFB. Hmmm I thought the original story was that Gannon had called or texted his Dad for permission to go out and play. Now the story is that Gannon told the stepmom he was going to play. ???

Going to look for where I saw the original story in MSM...

The department had previously reported that he was last seen at the 🤬🤬🤬 & Go on Mesa Ridge Parkway in Colorado Springs near Fountain. But upon reviewing surveillance footage Tuesday, his stepmother said the boy suspected to be Stauch was not him.
