It was reported earlier in the thread that Gannon left while the stepmom was in the basement with headphones on, I assume from her statement that she did not hear him leave?
which is why I don't understand how she/ or whomever knew he was supposed to go to a friends house a few blocks away. Where did that come from? IMO

Hey All. I'm following and hoping he's ok. It's not looking good.
On another note, can someone tell me how to "watch" this thread?
Top right, under the thread title.

The boy's stepmom was reportedly the last person to see him.
...
Gannon Stauch was last seen Monday afternoon between 3-4 at his home in the Lorson Ranch neighborhood east of Fountain. His home is on Mandan Drive near Fontaine Boulevard and Marksheffel. He was reportedly going to visit his friend a few streets away.

At one point, deputies thought Gannon had stopped by the 🤬🤬🤬 & Go convenience store on Mesa Ridge Parkway Monday night, but after the mother reviewed the surveillance, she confirmed it was not her son.

The sheriff's office says they have information that leads them to believe Gannon ran away. They did not elaborate further. 11 News asked EPSO Wednesday if Gannon is still considered a runaway and was told he is. Law enforcement and family are concerned about Gannon's wellbeing and are anxious to find him. Gannon's father is a member of the National Guard, and the Guard is also assisting with search efforts.

It's been too long, valuable time and clues, evidence gone now . Tjisakes me Soo damn mad ! Not for wasting anyone's time or valuable resources, however you only get one shot at a missing persons investigation. Should always err on the side of caution.....MOO

Sorry if I'm getting Harley Dilly vibes.
And Gannon is even younger.
He hasn't been just chillaxin' with some friends or in an abandoned house all of this time. Imo.

He has to eat and to keep warm.:(

Eta : There's a younger (?) sister at the home.
The older sister has graduated and is living elsewhere, I think.
So when did the sister last see him ?

The department's crime lab was at the house Wednesday, but such a move is standard, as is the involvement of the Major Crimes unit, Mynatt added.

"It's just another information-gathering tool, that's all," she said.

Deputies continued to search for the boy in between calls Wednesday as they did Tuesday, and his information has been added to the FBI's National Crime Information Center database, she said.

Sheriff's Office actively looking for 11-year-old Gannon Stauch, missing over 48 hours - KRDO
A spokesperson with EPCSO sergeant Deborah Mynatt says the reason why the Major Crimes unit was placed as the lead investigators is because Gannon is so young and there is some risk of him becoming a victim.

"It's not normal for an 11-year-old to just run away and not return," Mynatt says. It's also because detectives with Major Crimes can focus more on this case and try to find Gannon before the weather worsens.

Following.
What has the friend said who's home he was going to visit ?
Any prior DCFS involvement with Gannon's family ?
as far as I have heard, all his known friends have been called and none of them know who he was talking about.

Sunday was beautiful. It’s been cold since then. Monday we had rain and then snow in the evening. Upper 30s today.

Colorado Springs, CO Monthly Weather Forecast - weather.com

According to weather.com:

Sunday, 01/26: High 50, Low 23
Monday, 01/27: High 47, Low 25
Tuesday, 01/28: High 42, Low 23

Those low temps are much too cold for him to have stayed outdoors overnight.
If he ran away, he'd have to be sheltering inside somewhere.

I'd still prefer to think he's run away here.
Because if he didn't run away, this is a case of foul play by person(s) known to GS.

There are only 2 viable scenarios here, given the reported facts.

Only. Two.

Stauch’s step-mother last saw him in his home between 3:15 p.m. and 4 p.m. Monday. The home is in the 6000 block of Mandan Drive in Security, which is just southeast of Colorado Springs.

The step-mother said that some time during the 3:15 p.m. to 4 p.m. time period, Stauch left the home to play at a nearby friend’s house. He has not been seen since.

Stauch is 4 feet 9 inches tall and weighs about 90 pounds. He has brown hair and brown eyes. He was wearing a blue hooded jacket, jeans and tennis shoes.

Anyone with information should contact the sheriff’s office’s Investigations Tip Line at 719-520-6666 or call 911, if appropriate.

“Any information may prove valuable in solving the case and could consist of things as simple as anyone remembering suspicious vehicles or people they saw in or around the area on the date of this incident,” the sheriff’s office said.

Exactly.

He’s now (allegedly) been missing for two whole days.

That doesn’t seem to be the norm when kids his age run away.

I also wouldn’t expect someone his age to have the sophistication to make that Google search, and be able to remain hidden over this period of time.

None of this smells right.

Never got to the friend’s house. I wonder if anyone checked with his friends that lived close to find out if anyone was expecting him?
I imagine that law enforcement would have done a neighborhood canvass, and spoken with anyone whose house he may have gone to.

After speaking to those people, they tend to end up with more avenues to explore (more names and potential locations).
