For those wondering why Gannon was treated initially as a runaway:

NewsChannel 13 reported Wednesday, it is the policy of the [El Paso County] Sheriff's Office to investigate reports of missing children aged 10 and older as runaways, until evidence is found to prove an abduction or kidnapping has taken place.

It concerns me on the press conference how the police said they’re not looking into sex offenders at this time. If they truly have no idea where Gannon is, why wouldn’t they be looking at or at least talking to the sex offenders in the area? I can understand not thinking it’s a sexually motivated crime, but if they’re clueless as to where he is, all avenues should be explored until exhausted.

Not sure if this is allowed, but it was on the actual news channel on television, so maybe? They somehow accidentally put the banner "BODY DISCOVERED" with GS's name on it. They apologized afterwards and said it was a mistake. What a mistake to make. News Channel 5

Mistakes do happen but God, that is awful.

The feel of this Presser reminds me of the Presser for Nathan O'Brien and his Grandparents. It was very clear that they knew things we didn't. I can see Nathan's mom, clear as day, who spoke at the PC. She looked totally in shock and possibly even drugged. Nathan's father was inconsolable. My heart ached for him. As it turns out, LE had basically told them that they did not believe they would find them alive and were already investigating Douglas Garland when that PC was held.

I just get that feel here. I want nothing more than to be wrong.

I think the reason for that being that LE in fact has a pretty good idea of who might be involved in his disappearance, and it’s not a SO. Generally with a missing/endangered child, SOs are a first line of consideration.

The fact that they aren’t tells me a lot.

It is? Respectfully, I can think of a case here in the past few months where people clearly thought the victim's partner was responsible and another where they suspected the parents, and both cases turned out very different.

It’s 40 miles from me according to maps. I’m only 2 miles from GS’s neighborhood. Garden of the Gods is half that distance. There are a lot of good hiking spots on the west side of town.
