Oh I am so saddened to see this. I guess he could not overcome complications from his injuries.

Poor little sweet thing.

I am still praying for a miracle for little Jack. GB him, his grandmother and the others that love him.

I wonder what happened? The doctors said it was a miracle that he was breathing on his own, gurgling and smiling. Was his care inadequate when at home?

I so wanted this little guy to make it.

People like this should not be allowed to reproduce!
This baby has suffered and these monsters should get
DP......that's what they gave little Jack!
So many people would do anything to have a baby,
they should of chose adoption instead of this!

The baby suffered bite marks to his left leg and both arms, bruises on his head, retinal bleeding, a skull fracture, a torn frenulum and a bruise behind his ear consistent with being grabbed by the ear. Doctors told investigators that fluid had to be drained from the baby’s brain.

According to the affidavit, Koller told investigators that he dropped the baby several times, would bite the baby and shake him to get a reaction when he was unresponsive, and had held his hand over the baby’s mouth until he changed color to stifle his cries.

Despite early expectations that Jack Koller would die of his injuries, he rebounded at The Children’s Hospital and was released Aug. 10 to his maternal grandparents. However, his condition again deteriorated and he was readmitted to the hospital, Booth said.

He has since been released to hospice care and is expected to die.

My god.........how did he get a torn frenulum? Those animals tortured that baby...why, why, why.

Drop him off at an ER or church.

I can barely stomach these cases. These people deserve to die. Maybe if we were a tad tougher on monsters, someone might think twice about doing this.

The baby at the center of a suspected Lafayette child abuse case has died.

Boulder County District Attorney Stan Garnett said Jack Koller died late Monday, just shy of turning 5-months-old.

Garnett said a cause of death is yet to be determined but that his office would be looking carefully at the autopsy results to see if charges against the baby's father, Benjamin Koller, need to be stepped up.

"IF" the charges need to be stepped up??? IF???? Oh, thats right-when you beat, torture and eventually kill your own flesh and blood it counts less.

I know I am getting repetitive, but some legal eagle please explain to me why the dad/perp in this case should receive anything less that if he did this to a stranger on the street? And why he is less culpable when it is an infant than if it is a fully formed adult who can actually fight back?

So tragic.

Any word about the mother? I find it so hard to believe she didn't know this was happening. One of my boys has a scratch and I know it. He was an infant. You bathe them, you diaper them...how do you not notice these types of injuries?

Unless I'm mistaken, this wasn't the first episode of abuse, was it? Or did I make that up in my head?

RIP little guy.

RIP baby Jack. I was praying so hard that he would be able to pull through.

My god.........how did he get a torn frenulum?
I had to look that up. I had no idea.

Not that Wikipedia is the most accurate, but it does state:

"These can easily be torn by violent blows to the face or mouth, thus a torn frenulum is sometimes a warning sign of physical abuse."

I guess it can also have to do w/ the digestive tract and genitals? Guessing it was the mouth frenulum based on his other head injuries.

I firmly believe that, presuming the dad is found guilty, he should suffer the same treatment he gave his baby son. MOO

I just read baby Jack's story.
Born to hateful people.
Died at the hands of those hateful people.

There are many who loved you, Jack,
Rest in Peace, the angels are with you.

How horribly sad. At least baby Jack is at peace now and not suffering. I too, as MomofBoys mentioned, wonder about the mother. I read most of the articles here but I didn't read if she was charged with anything or involved at all. Also, was this a one-time beating or had he been hurting the baby since birth?
