If I had to guess, I am thinking the jury will at least go into next week. The forms alone will take 2 days to fill out...LOL

There was 1 case I remember the jury saying that even though they all took a straw poll in the beginning and they all seemed in agreement, they still wanted to review the evidence to be sure of their decision.

I suspect something like that may happen here. They know the case is serious after months of testimony so they will want to be certain of their decision. So I expect it will at a minimum be into next week. I hope it is today but figure it is not too likely.

Im sorry to hear others who have had to deal with family and friends who had any sort of mental disorder. I have 1 relative that is somewhat schizophrenic and they have her on strong meds that work wonders for her. They tried to change her medicine a few times and we have trained her to make sure she tells the Dr. that this is the only medicine that works for her. So they got her back on it and she does pretty well so long as she gets that certain medicine. It is some sort of monthly shot that seems to have the most help and she does get some other pills as well.

This particular person is well aware she is not well. She luckily is not violent and seems rather harmless although she does get upset at times and curses up a storm when she is not doing well.
She will actually let people know when she needs her shot. She is good in that way.

That is what is so hard with mental disorders is there is such a huge variation with different situations.

ok, in the downtime on verdict watch- I've been listening to the Jamie hood trial. It's quite entertaining, I must admit. The defendant is acting as his own attorney! it's really something watching him questioning witnesses, in his lingo. Ex. "Why y'all not git a search warrant". Check it out.

@xxxxxx I was - key word being was. If we don't get word by 2 PM, Mon. will be earliest we get #theatershooting verdict. Jury's off Fri.

I think it's the right thing to do (announce the verdict the same day). Not only for the families but also for JH. I'm sure there is a constitutional right somewhere that says he has the right to know as soon as it's decided!

I agree. The 3 hr delay is really strange. Judge didn't say 'it will be announced the same day no matter what time'.
He did say the courthouse closes at 5:30 pm.

In the MacNeill trial, the jury was allowed to deliberate as long as they wanted & they weren't sequestered!
They went all night & verdict was announced around 1 am on a Sat. morning.

If the courthouse closes at 5:30, there doesn't seem to be any leeway on this. To keep it open for the verdict. IMO

IMO, I too think it won't be until next week before the jury reaches a verdict. There are mountains of evidence to pour through. They have been listening to testimony for weeks on end and the amount of time just waiting to be in the courtroom between going over juror's questions, scheduling conferences, even getting seated in their chairs has to have taken its toll, as well. So I think they will do the best they can until tomorrow (unless Friday is a dark day), relax over the weekend and reconvene Monday, refreshed with a clear head and with a verdict.

that's why I added what I did---I keep coming across conflicting reports---
That McNeil one really was impressive. They did that with even less physical evidence than they have currently (IMO)

Does the jury have to fill out the forms before they ring the bell that they have a verdict? Or do they buzz that they have a verdict, then fill out the forms during the 3 hr. wait. It wasn't covered in jury instructions.
