The #TheaterShooting prosecution has been very smart to intersperse the heart rendering victims testimony thru trial rather than all at once

I didn't find the Gargi testimony as riveting as I had hoped.

I wish she would do an in-depth interview with someone from the media about her experiences with JH, and her uncensored thoughts and feelings about the whole thing.

I'm sure that will never happen though!

I know it wasn't. She didn't strike me as the casual dater type girl. I wanted to know was he gentle, rough or aggressive during sex. I hope that doesn't sound weird.

I think her breakup to JH hurt him more than he let on to Dr Reid. First love relationships are always painful when they end. I wonder if she ever referenced his private part to being small because he typed in small on the dating websites I found that odd?

I'm older and out of the loop with relationships these days but does a young woman consider herself a girlfriend even though she made it clear in the beginning it was going to be casual? It seems it's usually the other way around the guy wants the casual relationship. I did catch in the beginning of the testimony that she admitted it wasn't out of the ordinary to ask a guy on a date first. She's very independent because I never would have asked a guy out first. That shows how old I am. Lol.

She made a good decision to breakup with him because as he condition was worsening he probably would have eventually killed her. She was very lucky.

I'm sure any insurance is going for a possible 3rd party to bill---

That was difficult to listen to. Like one of the first victims in wheel chair who could not speak

I kind of expected more as well---I was curious since they kept bringing up everything.

I don't think she ever thought of him as a boyfriend--sometimes it takes a while for that to come---sometimes sex is like the goodnight kiss---different world.
I do know when they were going over every little thing I was expecting the defense to call her the "S" word because it was "friends with benefits"...

Wish I had some answers for you but I'm 70, single and out of the loop too. I am curious about the intimacy between them. Perhaps the PT already knows the answers, finds the subject insignificant to their case and wants to spare his Ex GF any more embarrassment. You can bet if there was any bizarre it would come out in trial.

VERY HARD!!! Tears --- that one really got me. The strength she had to testify with him so close. And he really looks at those pictures like admiring his workmanship...I really don't care for him or his team. I don't care if it is mental health anymore---so very sad

I know it was so sad. He knew exactly what he was doing was wrong. I just don't see anyway around it. I think he just wanted to avoid the DP but knew with a crime of this magnitude he would not win NGRI. Mass shooters never win.

They are hoping for LWOP

I also think they do not feel that any sex issues are relevant to proving him insane.

If they did- we would have definitely heard about it.

This judge also maintains very tight control of what witnesses can say on the stand, so I am sure that was a factor in terms of how limited her testimony was.

Didn't JH (and his team) offer to plead guilty to end up with LWOP? And that request was denied by the state?

Or do I have that wrong....

You are correct!

I believe he hid a lot of what he was planning/thinking from Gargi. He had already lost his relationship with her - he wouldn't risk losing her from his life entirely. Well, not till he committed to his "mission".

I don't think she had a clue about what he intended on doing. She must feel awful that she was ever connected to JH.

Yes, you are correct. I also read that the prosecution had to go for the DP because of the type of crime. I read that in one of the Colorado papers. I will try and find it again.

Yes but DA didn't accept it so only other chance he had was going to trial and using that defense NGRI. Going to trial was the only way left to possibly get LWOP instead of DP. Even if he loses jury has the option to sentence with LWOP or DP.

  • #157
Ok, good, glad I had that right. I've always wondered why the state wouldn't just allow him to plead guilty and do LWOP.

I've always thought that it would help decrease his notoriety if that had happened.

JH doesn't want DP so it was his only option. Even if jury finds him guilty it is up to them to sentence him to LWOP or DP.

I don't understand your first sentence.... you're saying that because JH didn't want to go on death row, the prosecutor had to decline his request to plead guilty and get LWOP?

Also, how does the issue of the jury finding JH sane or insane relate to them deciding his guilt?

I thought the jury had to find him either sane or insane at time of shooting.... and then if he was sane, they could go either DP or LWOP, and if they think he was insane... then not sure what the choices would be there.

I must say..Gold Patrol always brings it back to those who were not just murdered but all those victimized in that theatre..and recognizing even the professionals who had to deal with the carnage were also affected!! Bless his heart! :loveyou:
