this juror is a columbine shooting survivor.....frankly i'm shocked he even MADE the jury.......why in the world would the defense not have used one of their strikes on him when seating the jury?

Im thinking the defense may want an excuse to appeal the trial later.

Maybe they purposely let people like that stay on the jury to give them an excuse later during appeals if their case goes against them.

Judge Samour says Juror 737 seems thoughtful and he is convinced that the juror is confident in his ability to remain impartial.

Judge will allow the juror to stay. Says he’s thoughtful, candid. Doesn’t give you 1st answer that comes to mind

defense wants judge to speak to juror again after testimony and make sure he feels the same way......

i'm shocked (queenie note......i have never seen a judge let a juror stay on a jury that admits to being friends with a witness/victim)

That's possible but, they have a chance to object right now. If they don't take it then I would think its their loss in an appeal.

@KatSmith: I don't think they can declare a mistrial because the defense did not object to keeping the juror.

I never caught this..But do they actually even know at this point who are alternates versus decision making juror's yet? I alway thought juror's going into deliberations was a lottery after both sides close, give closings and the Judge charges the jury??? Did I miss something? TYIA

I ask that because this juror who knows ( for short time span) may never actually be part of the deliberating juror's...

Shooting survivor Alex Espinosa says when the shooting started he saw "a wave of people" in the front get up and run to the left.

It makes no sense. The point is why even risk it. It would be different if there was not many alternates left or something.

Why even risk it when it is not necessary.

Its almost like the judge was feeling sorry if he had to remove him.

Its just crazy to me to risk it. All the money and time invested in the trial. Lets do it right and not purposely allow things that could cause trouble.
