It's been down in the 30's at night in Denver. Didn't sound like he was wearing a coat, just a sports jacket. Hope he just went somewhere and didn't contact friends or family. Here's a google map of the area. Google Maps

Before his disappearance, 26-year-old James Montoya had a lot to look forward to.

"He was ready to go to the Marines in a month and a half from now and he's really excited. that was his dream," said his father Eddie Montoya.

His family describes him as extremely extraverted.

According to Salazar, on Saturday night, April 1, Montoya went by himself to the Hangar 101 Bar in Lakewood to play pool and hang out, as he often did.

Salazar said Montoya left the bar around 2 a.m. Sunday, and about thirty minutes later, he posted a Snapchat picture of a car in front of a house near Federal Boulevard and Alameda Avenue in Denver. And that was the last time anyone has heard from Montoya in the last nine days, Salazar said.

Salazar described Montoya as kind, loving, hard-working and deeply devoted to his family. She said he was a carpenter who planned on becoming a Marine this summer.

"He would never choose to walk away from his life here," Salazar said. "He is the best person there could be."

According to Salazar, she and Montoya have been dating for about a year and often imagined a long life together. Now, their future is on hold as the search for Montoya continues.

"It hurts, it's been so lonely having to come home to an empty house," Salazar said while fighting back tears. "Him not walking in the door, greeting me, asking me to give him a big hug."

It should be noted that the bar and the last known location are much too far apart to walk in 30min. It’s close to five miles, he had to get there some other way.

The reporter in the video at this link says according to James' parents, he left the bar with another man who he met that night. Also, his phone was found in Weld County.

“He went to their house and that’s where our son took a picture and put it on Snapchat,” Corinna said.

The search for a missing Lakewood man is ramping up more than a month after his disappearance.

[...]

"$2,000 might not get anybody to pick up the phone or to, you know, do anything, but hopefully $10,000 will peak somebody's interest and speak out," she added.

Corinna said her son left with people he had just met. No one has heard or seen him since.

Her son's cell phone was later found on the side of the road in Weld County, according to Corinna. Investigators are now looking through it to gather more information.

The body of a 26-year-old man who went missing from a Lakewood bar in April was found in Sawatch County. His family spoke first to Denver7 Friday.

"The sad update that I wanted to make sure to let everyone know is that our son James’ remains have been found," his mother Corinna Montoya told Denver7 on Friday morning. "It’s not the closure that we wanted, but we’re thankful he was found. His body was found."

James' father, Eddie Montoya, said his son was in the peak of his life and was registered and prepared to join the U.S. Marines.

He often said his son had the heart of a lion.

“It’s been a wild ride searching highways and byways and ditches and swamps and bridges and dumpsters and alleys and everywhere you can look," Eddie said. "And then miraculously, his body was found in a place that nobody would have ever found it. It was just a miracle.” ❤️

The family, seeking closure, visited the site in Saguache County.

"Realizing that we will see him again," Eddie said. "We will.”

Hames Montoya
James Montoya, 26, disappeared in early April after leaving a bar with two men the night before he was slated to meet with military recruiters, his mother Carmen Montoya told The Daily Mail.

His corpse was discovered in July near Moffat, Colorado during an unrelated search for Edna Quintana, 55, who went missing in the same area in May.

‘They’re calling it The Boneyard because so many people are being located there, and it’s such a secluded area,” Montoya’s mother told the outlet.

She said she personally went to the isolated site after her child’s remains were discovered.

“To see where my son was, indeed, there’s no cars around,” she said. “You can be in that one area for hours and not see anyone.”

Arvizo lives in Denver but may be in the Alamosa area in south-central Colorado, police said.

From the quoted link:

During a press conference on Tuesday, Clark said the remains were found off a county road in an open area north of Saguache Municipal Airport on July 26.

However, investigators determined that he had been killed in Denver. Clark said that while James was riding in a car with the strangers near W. 49th Avenue and Bannock Street in Denver early on April 2, he became involved in an argument and was shot and killed in the vehicle.

He said police believe the suspect then transported the body to Saguache County later that day.

On Sept. 5, investigators arrested Amber Jean Dominguez, 30, and she was formally charged by the Denver District Attorney's Office with accessory to first-degree murder after the fact, Clark said. Investigators have obtained an arrest warrant for Arvizo.
