How far away is this from where Kara (I can't for the life of me remember her last name) went missing?

Kara Kopetsky (if that's who you meant) went missing in Belton, MO which is over 600 miles away from Deckers, CO.

The NamUs UP casefile doesn't indicate gender, but based on the size 11 boots, and chewing tobacco, I am guessing that this UID is male.

From the items that were found, in my opinion, this was a person that was experienced in being out in the elements. The nice quality hiking boots, the head lamp, the camelback hydration daypack, clothing, gloves, etc. suggests maybe this UID regularly hiked, as this UID had the proper items to be out on a hike.
IMOO.

That would still fit with Terry Lemay.

Yes, it would fit Terry LeMay, but what is confusing for me, is the Skoal chewing tobacco. Terry is a health coach, so it is odd to me that he would use chewing tobacco knowing the health risks of it.
(Maybe the chewing tobacco belonged to someone else, even if this could be Terry LeMay?)
I did find a youtube video with the voice of Terry LeMay and this is part one where he promotes the Photon Genius( along with another gentleman Warren Starnes) about detoxing. Terry LeMay worked at the Energetic Life Center in the Denver area.
There are a couple more parts (2 and 3) on Youtube.

Hmm, good point.

I wonder if there is a visible Expiration Date on the Skoal tobacco?
I wonder if the barcode is visible? Maybe knowing these things can help identify
the timeline?

I wanted to add that the name brands of these items found with this UID are of quality, well made clothing and boots that are consistent with being sold at REI or perhaps other higher end hiking and outdoors stores. This UID's taste is of quality, fit, durability, and the cost suggests a certain taste or lifestyle.

Someone was out in cold weather.

Yes, definitely prepared for the weather.
I wonder what season, as it can snow from October (sometimes the end of Sept.) until April or so. The nights get rather chilly too throughout the year.
If he was out in late fall or winter, the headlight would come in handy if he were hiking and it got dark.
The empty ear plug canister case and gun.....maybe for target practice?
And who knows the gun could be protection against mountain lions or bears?
IMOO.

I'm wondering about the gun myself. We don't know cause or method of death, correct? Although it seems odd to put on all your hiking gear and then kill yourself.

I have been having trouble with links lately, sorry if it doesn't work.

I think this is an excellent PM! I'm not familiar with the area, but it looks like a 3 hour drive from where his car was found to where the remains were found (?). I definitely think you should call it in, though. All the other details seem spot on.
