Texas man goes missing after hiking in Colorado

Police say that Jeffrey Pickering was supposed to return to work in Grapevine, Texas on September 5, but he hasn’t shown up.

Pickering’s vehicle was found unoccupied at the Avalanche Trailhead where the Colorado Trail intersects Chaffee County Road 306, according to police.

In a post on the Chaffee County Sheriff’s Office Facebook page, Pickering was believed to have been hiking last Saturday in the northern part of the county. The Garland Police Department reached out to Colorado authorities when Pickering failed to show up for work last Monday.

Pickering’s cell phone was tracked to Cottonwood Pass in Chaffee County and his vehicle was discovered at the Avalanche Trailhead.
