He probably wasn't 'dying' fast enough. Maybe she is his beneficiary on the life insurance etc... Poor old guy, this lady looks creepy. Does she have teeth? Don't look like it.

Yes, she could be a relative. Her skin doesn't look bad but she sure needs some concealer for those under eye circles. I've heard of so many men who have women coming around to "see" them and are always needing help. The men I've heard of won't listen to their friends about the women either. They want them coming around for some reason. Of course, the article doesn't say what this man thought or reason for the girl being there.

Maybe she smoked pot but that would be the least of her concerns, the face on the mug shot is the bugeyed "meth mug" of someone who hasn't slept in days. Stimulant abuse is a major cause of unpredictable fits of violence.

Or they were both drug addicts. Being elderly does not preclude one from being an illicit drugs abuser. William S. Burroughs was a heroin user for 60 of his 83 years and seemingly proud of it as he famously said speaking of his best friend Jack Kerouac's premature death "death flows out of a bottle like life flows out of a syringe." His opinion not mine. This could explain them (young girl and old guy) getting along (sort of) since the only thing in common that matters for heavy hard drug users is that their friends/lovers/people they hang out with be drug users like them, past a certain point they couldn't care less about an age difference.
She looked more dismayed to me, like it was just hitting her that they were charging her with a crime. I don't want to think about how many people in this town must be meth users then, if that bugged eyed look means "meth user".

That look alone doesn't make the meth addict, the other two telltale signs are a gaunt appearance due to the anorexic effects of stimulant drugs and the presence of rotten/missing teeth. There is also the extremely foul breath cause by the drug but, thank God, that can't be conveyed by a picture. It's also her behavioral history that makes me think she's a stimulant addict.
