What if the trashbag lying at the scene was simply in the hands of the worker who was picking up trash? He might have freaked out and dropped it. I know I would. Maybe he started to put a container or something else in the bag and found the body?

I agree and while I was reading your post I thought to myself (if there is still missing body parts) --he might still have possession of them. Just throwing that out there too.

Jumping off here...This reminds me of Lauren Geddings. Her torso was found, but obviously because the killer timed the trash pickup wrong. To my knowledge, they never found the rest of her body. The torso seemed an obvious plant until you saw his reaction that they'd recovered it. Simply wondering if we're seeing what's there. This case breaks my heart all over again.

From the same article posted by The Truth Will Out

There was a green pickup truck that was parked there yesterday. Because this was such a remote area we really don’t see that many people,” said Mourie.

“Most of the people who come here to walk their dogs are regulars. You very seldom see somebody new show up. And then to have him show up and walking down through that area all of a sudden. I never saw the vehicle before, never saw the guy before, so I was a little suspicious.”

It's possible he chose to place her by the tree so that he could remember where she was. It's possible this stretch of road gets monotonous. The tree could be as simple as a marker. A place that, if he were to pass by again, he would know exactly where he had placed her based on the tree.

In previous comments, people have remarked that the WM truck is still there. Why? Is it secured? Some have mentioned that they were able to go there and have the place " to themselves." The trash truck is still there? Why? Why wouldn't the police take it to a more secure location if they believe it holds evidence?

Tin foil hat theory: It could be a decoy, holding cameras, and used to lure the perp.

IIRC, there has been some quite confusing mention of a "community center" in the area. Is anyone here aware of where that is on the map in comparison to Jessica's home, the park and the school?

I agree. I think he is a BTK type killer (thought this since they found the backpack upright on the sidewalk). He is taunting LE. I think her body was probably missing her head (at least). And he is like "follow me to where I put the head ... this is fun for me!" (sicko). I also think he might get frustrated there is very limited coverage of *him* on local news right now.

I almost suspect that local news channels might have been told "hey don't give time to this off the top of news and give it minimal attention." I have noticed today they are starting off with more attention on the Colorado theater shootings and kind of burying the Jessica story. I think this might be to "piss him off" and they think he might do a "hey look at me!" move.

All just speculation and my opinion only, but that has been my sense of it.

But what if that, "Look at me" move is kidnapping and murdering another child?

If you stand at the place where the body was found, you can't see any houses. The guy who called Nancy Grace lives at least a mile away from where the body was found. He may have been able to see the boom when it was extended up, but it was impossible for him to have seen the investigators working around the body from his kitchen window. What he probably did see was the staging area which would be roughly 1/4 mile from his home. He may have even seen the fire truck while it was at the staging area.

The real lesson here is that eyewitness accounts are often inaccurate. Not because people are lying, but because our memory doesn't work like a TIVO machine. We reconstruct our memories every time we dredge them up, often unintentionally enhancing them with information that we learned later.

Yeah, I believe you that you can't see the crime site from his house. I'm trying to figure out whether he did see something (like did he walk down the hill closer to the scene than he wants to admit?) or if he's just, as you say, having mixed memories, and if so how reliable what he said is.

Not that he seems to have seen much of anything of importance :p

It's more likely that the newsrooms and more importantly their viewers are utterly exhausted by this case. It's not fatigue but literal exhaustion. There are no vigils today. No balloon releases. No PD press conferences. There is no sound. (and TV thrives on sound). What would your story be? People are still scared and no arrests? That's not new. There is no new news today as best I can tell other than Wyoming and it's not connected. And tomorrow will be a huge day with the memorial service.

Today was a chance to give everyone a chance to catch their breath.

Well, that would be tragic obviously! I am not sure what you are asking ... you think they police/media should give him more attention so he doesn't kill again?

Then where is the rest of her body?

If he did it just for convenience, the pieces would not be missing.

(I still assume the skull is missing due to lack of dental ID).

Even if animals had've got to it, the skull is too heavy for them to drag far, they would have found it.

Where are the pieces of trashbag?

:waitasec:

She's also pretty small, and portable.

Physically removing parts of a body is hard work. It would add to the inconvenience, not relieve it in my opinion.

:cow:

He could have it or they could be in a Dumpster in Denver. We just don't know.

You are so right!

Toddlers don't burn down the house if they aren't left alone with matches.

It is up to the more responsible people to ensure temptation is out of their grasp.

It's not the guns per se, it's the gun laws that I have issues with.

Every toddler can just go and buy as many matches as he wants. :(

:banghead:

Exactly. But I don't think it's the gun LAWS that are the problem, it's the people who don't respect the laws. It's not that difficult to buy guns, you can buy them over the internet and crooks in big cities sell them out of the back of their vehicles. Teenagers are getting hold of them somehow, but finding out where they got them is harder than people think. It's not always from their parents. Gang members have guns, and my guess is they're not registered.

There is more than one suspect in the Arvada abduction/enticement attempts.

Omgosh, what if they are working together?

I personally thought they would do endless stories of children back at school for first day after finding out Jessica was identified. And have more experts talking about what they are telling children etc. And about first day back to school. It was barely a blip.

I am hoping that between the cell phone data analysis of calls hitting the three towers (PLEASE let him have had his cell with him!), and the processing of the DNA swabs, that they're closing in on this maniac. And I hope he is seriously anxious, paranoid and in distress.

I'm sitting at a town meeting in superior (where bp was found) and they have the local sex crimes prosecuter speaking Not really confirmation about the type of crime committed but Interesting

If he was on foot or bike he would have made multiple trips to dispose of body parts. I think he put them in various places....trash, dumpsters, body of water, etc. All local places no doubt.

Gah, just stopped on NG on my way to Monday Night Football and sure enough they were talking about the possible ties to Wyoming case...

I put both of them on my map in the OP

You said that LE might have told the media to "back off" so the killer gets annoyed that he isn't getting attention, and he does a "look at me" move. We are talking about someone who has already murdered a little girl. There's a possibility that a "look at me" move could involve another child. Like, "Do I have to kill two kids for you to pay attention?"
