Wonder if any locals recall any neighbors having any outside fires after the date Jessica was taken? Especially anyone that normally doesn't have any burning stuff going on in the yard. The perp may have tried to burn any clothes, blankets, etc... that may have head evidence on them.

Of course this could be attempted in a fireplace too or campsite. Or just tossed the clothes or threw them in landfill or lake.

Just thinking about any trail of evidence that could be found.

Good stuff. That's what Travis Forbes did last year...
You know, I wish the WPD would ask the public this question, bc it would be rather out of place, I would think, esp, since we've had the wildfires and burn bans...Even though those bans have been lifted, I believe, I'm willing to bet people are lighting fires less. I know I'm scared to fart up here since the whole state was practically on fire this summer. Now, it did get chilly the day she went missing...

Respectfully, I would think that if he's a local, he would know that this is coyote country. But then again, if he's new to the area, especially as an illegal immigrant (my possible theory for the day), he may not...

Would a coyote try to move remains? I'm very familiar with coyotes, but I don't know the answer to this question.

I'm so glad that you brought this up, because this has been bothering me from the start. They closed it off, of course, 2 mile blocking point, and obviously searched it diligently with a fine tooth comb. However, I personally think its too soon for people to be trampling all over bc there is always the microscopic chance that something is missed or buried.

The wind has been blowing hard, howling all night. I can't help but wonder what unfound evidence is blowing around.

Denver Post, non-graphic image. The memorials are sad, but I'm glad they are de-creepifying that tree. (I also didn't realize the site has now seemingly been opened to the public, but I also don't watch TV news coverage, just online stories.)

The body was found Wednesday afternoon. Sometime on Friday, the roadblocks on Leyden Road were taken down and it was opened to the public. I took these photos of the site at sunrise on Saturday morning.

I'm not an expert, but I'm willing to bet yes, especially since they have been known to attack kids and pets in the area.

During the service when the pastor read about Jessica he said she departed on Oct 5. I know that was the day taken, but do you think that they have some kind of evidence that is the day she was killed? I don't like any part of this, but I would hope that her time alive with the perp was very quick and that anything painful was done after death.

Just wondering if they used that date for any significant reason other than the last day she was seen alive. . .

ETA: The date was incorrect.

I wouldn't be surprised if he is reading here. Travis Forbes used to come and read here.

I think they are going by the date she was last seen alive.

I am thinking she did know this person, from the rec dept, school ,etc as maybe he offered her a ride. she may have said no she was meeting a friend, he offered to go get the friend as well. He then turned up the street right before the park and took off with her. I don't know. I hope they catch him soon.

It wouldn't shock me in the least if the perp is reading here. And gloating...

One quick thought, probably insignificant, but popped into my head this morning. The city of Westminster includes 2 different counties, Jefferson & Adams. It also includes at least 3 different school districts...Jefferson County Schools, Adams 50, Adams 12. Boulder Valley school district is just to the north in the Superior/ Broomfield area. The attempted abductions prior to JR as well as the similar reports following hers have really seem to be concentrated in the Jefferson County school district boundaries of Northern Arvada & Western Westminster. Seems pretty localized to me...meaning local guy?

new here! been lurking for years but just finally made a profile one MI went private.

I wanted to say and see if anyone else noticed -- they finally put a date of death on JR's flier/page. It used to just say 2012 but now it says Oct 5, 2012. I wonder if that was the parents idea or maybe LE finished an autopsy? or something to be able to know she was definitely killed the first day she was taken?

I have watched some of those specials. It is shocking. Parents were shocked too at how easily their Child was lured despite what they have been told.

Exactly!! So all this advice is worthless if the kids won't do what is suggested. Most of the hidden camera studies show a lot (if not most) of the kids don't do that well when actually confronted with the lost puppy or some other scheme.

I wonder how accurately they would have been able to estimate date of death, based on the decomposition of the remains. Since she was found within days, maybe they could tell, for instance, that she had been dead for more than 48 hours, or whatever.

I did a map last night marking the three points that we know: home, backpack, and remains. I then used the line connecting home and the backpack as a mirror line, and mirrored the triangular shape across that line. The point I came up with is Broomfield.

That leads me to suspect that they WERE able to approximate the date of death based on autopsy results.

Perhaps breakfast was her last meal, and perhaps the date was decided based on the last day that she was known to be alive.
