Ok, If I'm seeing this map correctly:

Since "Police said Jessica Ridgeway was last seen walking to Chelsea Park in the area of 107th Avenue and Moore ..."(thedenverchannel.com):

If we take out this open space aspect for a second and look strictly at the driveable roads, where someone could get her in a car, there are 3 areas where she could have been picked up in a vehicle along her way, (assuming she made it to this intersection and not considering Miller Ct. and Lewis Cir before this point, will return to this) :

1. Her continued route along Moore St.
2. On 106 St. (It is here she would now cut across the open space, bringing her to a couple options next, depending on which way she normally entered the school building...)

3. The parking lot behind / and or adjacent to the school (with all the parents and staff here, this would be a really risky/bold move on prt of the perp)

I don't see any reason for her to go over the bridge and coming back around on Moore St, because it appears there is a barrier there between homes and the school on that side..

So, what I'm looking at is like a sandwich...the open space (nondriveable) is the filling, and Moore /106 and the school parking lot are the bread (driveable).

Am I seeing this correctly?

I was really confused about this from the beginning, because 107th makes a curve that seems to meet Moore St. below Chelsea Park and some open space... where Moore St. continues to make a short straight spot where it then connects to 106th?

That didn't make any sense to me, because that means she walked past/through Chelsea Park and was closer to school after all... so then why would she go and meet someone somewhere else when she was so close to school...?

Or is there another 107th/Moore Street intersection that I missed? Or is that simply a misquote or an idea that someone had...

Or is that where the as-yet unknown eyewitness thinks they saw her?

Thanks spamelope. I saw the tarp picture too. I'm just guessing what these marks mean. But the distance of the overhead pic did insinuate a vehicle's positioning. Could be that darn WM truck. Were the WM truck peeps cleared? The driver or his helper or whatever? tia That truck might have broken down and that's why it stayed there for days. ?

I've missed something along the way. Who was it that said she walked to school with a group of kids? The only thing I've seen/heard is when her mother said that she walked to school with J, and walked home with a big group of kids. If I'm missing something that important, could somebody please point me in the right direction? TIA

I'm catching up so this might've been discussed already but this caught me off guard too. It seemed like "meeting up with this boy to walk to school" turned into "walked school with a group of kids" and I never understood it.

Backwoods, I think that's to clarify that those tire marks are from the waste management truck, and not the perps. Days ago, I saw a blue tarp across the street from the remains site where someone speculated the killer parked. hth

Thanks -- I sort of figured out after posting that might be the reason and added to my post about that possibility -- but without seeing that you had already posted your reply!! :blushing:

If she was not intercepted on a driveable street, and instead within the park or open space area, then I don't see her being chloroformed, bc that would make it more difficult and suspicious to the people around (a man carrying a sleepy girl)...so, this makes me think that IF she was intercepted in one of the open space or park areas, then she must have been coerced via gunpoint and led towards a vehicle...OR misled otherwise willingly, but unknowingly, bless her sweet heart (security guard cop uniform? puppy theory?)
back to square one.

(just brainstorming out loud)

IIRC, LE went to Missouri and questioned the father and his mother. And LE stated on October 10th that the parents were cleared.

http://kdvr.com/2012/10/10/police-c...-parents-call-her-disappearance-an-abduction/

Quote:

Investigators cleared the parents of Jessica Ridgeway in the 10-year-old’s disappearance.

“After thoroughly looking at the parents, we’re confident they are not involved in the disappearance of Jessica Ridgeway,” Westminster police spokesman Trevor Materasso says
Sorry Marilyn, :blushing:
Im referring to the dad of Jessica's friend. The dad of the boy who was to walk with Jessica to school. IMO

I think it's too short of markings or wheel base for a WM truck. jmo But could be. It's always the angle of the shot, darn...

This is where I'm hung up too. If they looked for her bp between home and Js house, that tells me they aren't really sure if she took her normal route to Chelsea or perhaps turned and went east that morning. And I agree why would she get all the way up to w107th and then go to Js if she was so much closer to school?

There is an unidentified person who says they saw her enroute to school. Her friend J said he saw her and walked to school with her and then his father said he was mistaken and had the wrong day. A teacher's assistant said she saw her go into the school but never saw her in the building. Also, IIRC, one other little girl. But they all recanted. Or were mistaken.

So the last person, besides her mom (as you asked) is an unidentified person.

Thanks ExpectingUnicorns, that helps me a lot.

Kim Remmel went missing from Arvada Memorial Day weekend.
"She liked to hike in Jefferson County open space areas and parks, including Golden Gate Canyon State Park."
SBM from: http://blogs.westword.com/latestword/2012/07/kim_remmel_missing_wild_horse_activist.php

She is tiny, too. She might fit, imho. Certainly a perp could escalate by being extra careful with a body in an earlier crime and then leaving more of a show of things later. I wouldn't rule her out as a victim at all :(

Just thought I'd share a video of the monster we will be executing at the end of Oct. Last week SD executed one of the three guys that murdered a correctional officer but Moeller is considered the worst of all here in SD. In the video it tells how he kidnapped an 8 year old 22 years ago and as he was stabbing her to death he was raping her at the same time.

I don't mean to change the subject but today I read about a 19 year old in May 2012, from Westminster was arrested for stealing & animal abuse of hamsters (small animals the article said too) at a Petsmart where he was working at. He said he was giving them to his friends but also admitted he pinched one of them & that he had swung one in the air by it's leg? Now that's scary, talk about overpowering something by strength & size, that's overkill. That to me is odd & sick. Who pinches a hamster?

This boy needs some help quick. I hope someone in LE knows about this and can check his whereabouts. Quickly :what:

Animal scatter? Red markers? It appears to be to me. I surely hope she wasn't harmed anymore than she was but I'd take a huge relief knowing she wasn't dismembered. jmo

I wonder if he will try to contact LE in some way if in fact he didn't dismember her? He may be thinking "hey, I did it but I didn't cut her up, I'm not a sicko". You would think that someone who wouldn't dismember someone way be a little offended by everyone thinking that he did.

Police seek links between Jessica Ridgeway and May incident nearby

For the first time in the Jessica Ridgeway murder case, investigators released the description of man who used a chemical-soaked rag in an unsuccessful attempt to abduct a 22-year-old woman near Ketner Lake on May 28...

..."Police are trying to determine if there is any connection between the two cases," authorities said in a bulletin to media...

...On May 28, the young woman said she was grabbed by a man described as white or light-skinned and between 18 and 30 years old, with brown hair and a medium build. He was about 5 feet 8 inches tall.

The woman had initially jogged past the man, police said, then he grabbed her from behind "trying to put a rag over her mouth. She said the rag had a chemical smell on it. She was able to get away and called 911 from her cellphone...

It's a very family oriented neighborhood - lots of kids. No real crime. Also, pretty sleepy - lights off by 9pm typically. Of course this was a Saturday night and the owners of the house where the bag was dropped were reportedly out and saw it when they came home after midnight but didn't do anything about it until the next day. It is not unusual at all for kids stuff to be lying around - bikes, scooters, toys, etc. I think this is why the backpack was ignored for as long as it was -- just not that out of place. One other point that may be important. The weather that evening and day was as cold and wet as it has been since last winter. It had started on the Friday that JR was abducted and really didn't improve until late in the day Saturday. On the typical Saturday morning there would have been lots of people out and about, but that just wasn't the case that day.

As I've posted before, I think in assessing the location of the BP drop, it's worth looking at and considering the path from the body drop to that location. (I for one believe it was done in that order). If you were heading to highway 36 the absolute most direct route would to go north on Indiana (CR5) to McCaslin to 36. The entire area on your left (west) is open space and is basically uninhabited for all of those miles. Similarly, on your right (east) there is really nothing (if you were looking for an area with homes) unless you head back toward JR's neighborhood (via 96th) until you come down the hill on McCaslin and cross Coalton. The FIRST RIGHT is Christensom Ave. (Yes, there is a turn at South Indiana, but there isn't much along there except a school and fire station). This is the entrance to the neighborhood where the bag was dropped. Again, no homes along that short stretch and a choice of either left or right on Andrew Way. If you turn right on to Andrew, the home at the corner of Alpha (where the bag was dropped) is the first house on the right where there are no windows facing the street. (I think it is only 5 houses in -- not very far) Christensom is also the last place that you can turn before you get to the highway that is not a larger road or a commercial area. Unless you've seen it (although frankly the Google Maps show it pretty well), it's hard to believe you could drive 7-8 miles and not see any residential areas but that is the way it is.

http://goo.gl/maps/Ifd6e

I continue to believe that the traffic cameras at the intersection of 86th and Indiana (CR5) hold a crucial piece of evidence. I just don't see how the perp got between the three known locations without passing that intersection at least twice.

BBM

Do the traffic cameras there actually record anything, or are they live view only? Takes a boatload of storage to record and keep "film" on file for any length of time, especially if you have a large number of traffic cams on the grid.

I may have my cities confused, but I thought I saw cams there which look incredibly like the system used in Spokane, WA area by WSDOT, and the cameras can be remotely operated 180 degrees, up & down and all around (kids song in there somewhere?? and zooooooooooom way in. But they don't record a second of what they see. Only livestream.

http://www.srtmc.org/trafficcameras/#

maybe wasn't the greater Denver area? But I spotted some like this someplace online recently, and I've been checking for Denver news first thing every day before anywhere else in hopes of seeing a break in this case. Might have been on one of the TV stations sites.

Have been wondering why LE said that Jessica was last seen near 107th and Moore... I keep reading and re-reading the rewind and think I finally figured it out. At one point, after they searched the neighborhood and had firetrucks en route to Chelsea Park to light it up so they could search, an LEO said that it looked like a dog was "heading to" an address near that spot on the road.

I am deducing from that, then the subsequent statement in the media that she was last seen near here, to mean that perhaps the dog tracked her scent to there, and since they do not know if she was spirited away conclusively at any other point, they are calling this her last known location.

Also in the rewind it seems that the father of the boy she was to be walking with waited around at his house until 8:40, before driving his son to school. It still doesn't make any sense to me why she would have walked all the way there, but I guess it makes sense to LE.

ETA: All the above was my paraphrasing... [ame="http://www.websleuths.com/forums/showpost.php?p=8435263&postcount=2171"]Websleuths Crime Sleuthing Community[/ame]

i dont recall hearing abt this one when it happened.
hope i pasted that correctly

sorry, forgot to give u a location/ perspective.
this neighborhood/ elementary school "Sheridan Green" is probably 1.5 miles due east of JR's neighborhood

Wow, thanks, hadn't seen this one. Another case to add to the possible comparables, for sure. 5 ' 5, hispanic male? The list of possible suspects' physical descriptions is growing.

I think the boy might have got his wires crossed on where to meet & time or was on facebook or something and forgot. The perp caused this, no one else. They know who they are. fu jmo

It's okay Dr. Know. I kept thinking about how in my very southern part of the country we have perps doing trash pick up along the highways rather than jail time. And wondered if it may have been the same up there. After our "public servants" pick up the area the regular WM people pick up their bagged efforts. This gave me second thoughts until I decided it couldn't even squeeze into Occams Razor
