I believe the cross is unlikely to carry any evidence itself.

The surface is too smooth for DNA and a quick wipe would elminate any fingerprints.

They also did not confirm which scene the cross was recovered from. It may be from the attempt on the jogger.

This leads me to two likelihoods -

The jogger's description may have included the perp wearing a cross, and this cross was recovered from Jessica's scene, or

It was found near the jogger, or she ripped it off in fighting him, it has no connection at all with Jessica, but it's the only clue they have and they are hoping the jogger's attack will lead them to Jessica's killer.

Personally I'm leaning toward the last option. They have no idea but it's a clue. It came from the jogger not Jessica.

Perhaps there is other religious-type evidence at Jessica's scene?

How would three spots in a straight line, for instance, form a triangle? Like if the evidence spots were three exits in a row off of a highway?

But how often does that actually happen, and on a perfectly straight highway?

I just think people sometimes start getting very mystical about triangles when it's pretty likely you'll get one with almost any three points, for example if I were to list my home, work and favorite restaurant.

I'd be more interested if something came up as a perfect (equilateral) triangle.

If the spots are aligned, you are quite correct, they cannot be trianglated.

My original post should have read,

"any 3 non-aligned spots joined together will form a triangle".

My apologies...but I was referencing Jessica's scene in particular where the spots were triangulated.

I am still reading and catching up but want to get this thought out before I lose it.

LE could be asking for info on local shops that sell this kind of cross, not in the hope that they will find where it was bought, but in the hope that there is NOWHERE local to buy them. Sooooo, if the victim at the lake id'd it as something the guy had on, then LE would know it was unique and would be able to connect the two crimes.

JMO and all that jazz.

Colorado requires a DNA specimen from anyone arrested for a felony per "Katie's Law".

http://coloradoindependent.com/2400...ties-law-to-collect-dna-on-all-felony-arrests

A state Senate panel late Wednesday evening approved a bill to require law enforcement officials to collect DNA samples from anyone arrested for a felony in Colorado,
This is the ongoing dnasaves.org. These are the states that have passed Katie's Law:

There's a lot of them. If you click the link on the upper right hand side of the page that says "Recent Posts by Others on Westminster PD -- See All," he's listed in there. About 8 comments down. Keep scrolling down and you will see more posts by him and he also responds to others' posts. Clicking on his FB page gives more info, too.

ETA: Look in the "Recommendations" section, too.

I didn't find anything too interesting re: that ... but who is that crazy lady who posted her phone number on a public facebook page for someone to call her. Now, that is cuckoo! (Sorry hope it is no one here!!) Can I get in trouble for calling someone on facebook cuckoo?

I'm wondering if Le knows the cross belongs to the perp because of dna taken off backpack and the cross and off of her body and they all match. Maybe it took LE this long to mention to the public about the cross because they just got the dna off the cross back and found a match to the other things? They could have been waiting to see if the cross dna matched?

Seems unlikely. If they had DNA, they wouldn't have to be asking the public for a connection.

Online shopping has pretty much blown that line of enquiry out of the water, in my opinion.

They clarified that what they're really looking for is anyone who knows anyone who has owned or worn that cross.

Seems like they already have the connection.....i think they have dna..they just don't have someone to put that dna with. They are asking for info from people..if anyone has seen someone wearing this cross....or someone that has been seen with this on his possession.

Actually, her home is located in Jefferson County. Her home, school, Ketner Lake, Standley Lake, and Pattridge Park... all of those are in Jefferson County.

The eastern sides of Arvada and Westminster are in Adams County.

Another interesting set of three...

True. But as we have found, it's not that easy to buy a cross that looks like this one online. Nobody here at WS has been able to find one. Yet.

I thought it was pretty interesting that it came up matching the triangle that makes a leg of a pentacle. I'm not sure it's significant; the way the roads around there follow the contours of the land, it encourages that shape. But it's still unusual.

The only post I can find is the one where he says he met with the pd; the rest seem not to be there.

That's the only one I could find also

Ugh impossible to catch up but I see we are still discussing the cross.

If it is homemade there will not be one found online exactly like it. Orrrr it is/was made in quantity and someone put theirown marks on it and changed it up a bit.

1. I have to disagree with you, I think the cross has the potential to hold DNA in where the hole was drilled, unless varathaned (and perhaps even then) it would be rough wood so it would be very hard to make sure there was no trace DNA left in that area.

2. The picture is dated as being taken on Oct. 11th the day after she was found, which leads me to believe it most probably came from the crime scene where where a portion of her body was found.

Where does the road that Jessicas remains were found lead?
